Good enough for games for me!!!!!
I don't understand the need to play brand new games NOW!
The new $40 games will be $2.50 in the bargain bin in two or three years- and by waiting a couple of years I know whatever budget machine I will have at that point will run them fine.
My 5 year old computer runs Rome Total War just fine! ;)
Better graphics and technolody != more fun. Some of the best games I ever played could be played on a chip less than one gigahertz.
If I still had a floppy drive I'd play Master Of Magic tonight.

LOL does not mean LOL... yes, I know it does but it doesn't really.
Translations:
Funny - Not really amusing so I'll say it is to make you feel better.
LOL - I see the humor in that.
ROFLMAO - This was funny enough to make me smile.
ROFLMAOPUB - I may have laughed slightly.

This is actually a decent computer for basic gaming, home office, and general computer use. You definitely will not be playing Skyrim very well and the amount of upgrade you would need wouldn't be worth it.
I've never had problems with our HPs and they all lasted until we were ready to upgrade (5-6 years) then we sold them to another family who are still using the laptop and tower.
The only brands of computers I have ever had problems with are Apple (two failed harddrives with four months, sold it shortly after), Compaq (total motherboard failure after a year and a week and would have cost more than the computer to fix), and E-machine (screen burnt out, got it replace...that happened three times. It was a defect, so they finally let me trade in for the Compaq). When I worked in retail tech support most the computers that came through for service were E-machine, Sony, and HP. I'm not sure if HPs came through a lot because they were "bad" or because they were the top selling brand around this area. As far as service, that includes accidental damage (dropped laptop) and virus removals. As far as actual hardware issues (screen burnout, bad harddrive, etc.) I would say we had way more Sony units with hardware failures then we ever did HP.
Signatures are harshing my mellow.

I was laughing at all the smiley faces he put on the post. I just thought a couple of LOLs would have been belonged in there as well.
I'm just a little odd that way.

Regarding Children- it's about balance.
Yes, they do need exercise- and physical play helps them learn co-ordination skills, etc, as well as keeps them healthy.
However, I wouldn't say Children should be kept away from computers.
1) They will grow up in a world even more computer-dependant than we are in. It is a bleak world for the 6-8 y/o today that grows up not understanding computers.
2) Computer play for puzzle like games have been proven to grow the neurons in certain regions of their brain (making them better at puzzle solving).
MONITOR how long your kids use the computer- don't bar them from using them.
