Since the last firmware update, my Roku XD isn't worth the time of day. Locks up regularly and tech support is totally worthless.

Very Very True.

just looked at the back of mine, and it does indeed have red, white, and yellow composite-out connectors, so it otter work with any tv that has composite-in connectors.

I bought one just because of this. I have our tv hardwired right now since it is a Samsung "smart" tv, but the apps for the tv are really lacking. They are slow and infuriating to use.

Plus my Liveexercise.com website now has a Roku channel, so that is a bonus. Actually I am hoping my husband can watch MLB games through it. It is $25 for the season. I wish they had NFL, but MLB and UFC will be awesome for us.

Signatures are harshing my mellow.

It only comes with RCA cables in fact. I just bought it when it was up last time, so I started using it this last weekend. I went on Amazon and bought an HDMI cable for 2.99, so will know better how the HD looks in a few days. The RCA cables work fine and setup is easy. I like using my Xbox more for Netflix, but the Roku can do a couple of services that my Xbox doesn't (and there are likely things I just haven't found to do with it yet as well) like Amazon Prime videos and the free news clips channels.

Refurbs come from mass marketing. QVC had Roku XD as their TSV a week ago, there will be many returns/cancelled orders. Costco has the XS model in their warehouse, again look for many future refurbs.

Yes, it has both that and RCA, though you don't get an HDMI cable with the unit.

Purchased one for my sister, and I already have 3 myself. Yes, it is the older gen BUT it is the perfect choice if you are buying for someone with a mix of CRTs and high def TV's in their house.

ATTENTION ANYONE WHO DOES NOT OWN A ROKU: It is worth the price of any of the boxes to have Pub-D-Hub channel alone, and there are lots of other channels.

Got one of these last week (have an older one as well) and I like them. That said, I still prefer using my Wii to watch Netflix instead of the Roku. Seems the software on the Roku won't let you get subtitles whereas you can through the Wii.

I watch just about everything with subtitles. When you've loud kids or a fussy baby, subtitles make all the difference.

I wish this did more than just streaming.

As Netflix is available on so many devices now it doesn't make sense to spend $50 for a box that just streams

Lots of tv shows available via amazon/netflix/hulu.

I'm not interested in sports, but I will say that when I was setting mine up I passed up at least fifteen specialized sports channels. I would say you are likely covered.

do some google-fu for "roku channels" and check it out yourself.

The ones Roku are selling brand new for $49.99 are the 720p model. This Woot model is the 1080p.

it seems that this one is the slightly older model, with the new one being a bit smaller and having an "XD" emblazoned on the top of the box. Seems like a decent buy, being $20 less than the new one on Amazon. At least with this one you don't get the guady "XD" on the top advertising your model choice.

Actually today Roku is running a 20% off sale on the HD version box, bringing it down to $47.99 for a Version 2 brand new box, with free shipping. Certainly a better deal than Woot is offering. Maybe that is why it is taking so long for Woot to sell out of these.

Let me put it this way: When I was still in school, I missed several classes because I would get hooked to a season of 24 (on Netflix), and thanks to my roku, would have unlimited access on my tv.

It is awesome.

I stand by my comment that it is the poor man's DVR, especially if you already have a netflix account. I spent under $20 a month on Hulu+and Netflix, and the best part was, unlike a DVR, it didn't run out of room!
