That's it Woot. I'm done. It's been a fun ride, and I've gotten a few decent items, but most everything is crap. Like the refurb mp3 player with the 90 second battery. Or the crummy portable rechargeable universal batteries that shorted out said mp3 player. The replacement mp3 player, a Sansa clip, with a broken clip. The bluetooht headset with a rebate that expired the day before it arrived in the mail. The Roomba (which works well so far) that starts at random times, setting off the house alarm. And lastly, the Burgandy Olfactory Center that has escaped me no less than six times due to overloaded servers. Fool me once shame on you, fool me seven or more times, shame on me.

I'm out. No more woots.

Apparently there's a warehouse in Texas somewhere that's filled Raiders of the Lost Ark style the rafters with Dyson vacs.

If these vacs are that good, why is Amazon always trying to unload them through Woot?

End of rant. No more woots for me. Goodbye and godspeed.

I wanted a Dyson until I read the reviews on Amazon and now I think people are paying way to much for a vacuum that may or may not last past a few months before they have to get it fixed so yeah I think I will pass.

Anyone know if attachments from other Dyson vacuums will work with this model? I need to replace my old one that fell down the stairs, and I'd like to use some of the attachments from it that aren't included with this one.

Great vacuums and last a long time, but once they do break, good luck getting parts.

Bought this the last run...great vac, but they are refurbs...My brush wheel button stopped working after a few months...now it just "sucks"

Dyson vac's are great, they don't look like it should work but it does.
Mine works too good, I have old carpeting that gets too sucked by my Dyson.
Absolute necessity with animals.

I've had a Dyson for over 5 years and haven't had any issues. It's always worked great for me.

Meh I'd pass, Dysons seem to be a bit of a marketing gimick.

I have one of these and it sucks way harder than any Dyson I've ever used.

So, yes it's more powerful than even myself.

All Dyson have major flaws. It is in their extendable wands for stairs. The dsign is flawed and a major drawback. When you detach the wand, the top part is nonbendable. Therefore you can't bend it like other vacuums to get in tight areas or do the stairs. You must go back several steps in order to get the proper angle. I bought 2 Dysons and am regretting it. Bisell has better product. Dyson has great weight for movong around which is it's only perk. Claims great suction, however, my Bisell grabs twice the amount. I give Dyson a 3 out of 10. Being that I have 2 large houses and and office, I would love a refund on mine but know it won't happen.

We bought the DC14 (non-ball) model here at Woot a while back. So far, we like it a lot. At Woot's price, it was a great buy, and it performs well on carpet, floors, and upholstery, *provided it's used according to the instructions.*

And @robertey: really sorry about your succession of unsuccessful Woots. We've been really lucky, I guess. Only really actively using the cite for the past three months or so after one (very happy) Woot back in '08. But every purchase has been a win for us.

Definitely hearing you about Burgandy Olfactory Center though. Tried it once and that was plenty, thanks. No interest in participating in another server overloadfest for no real reason. A waste of time. Worth trying once, of course - but a waste of time beyond that.

yuqimao wrote:Does anyone own one of these? Can you tell me how well it works? And also the whole potentially scratching floor thing is why I haven't gotten one yet...

I don't own this specific model, but rather the DC25 Animal, however it is a really good vacuum. Prior that that we had a top end eureka and while it was a nice vacuum, it doesn't hold a candle to the Dyson. When I first got the dyson, I had to do some testing. What won me over was vaccuming the wool rug that we have in our living room. First I did each half with a different vacuum (the dyson and the eureka). I was astonished with the far greater amount the dyson picked up (not to mention the loose fibers from the rug). Then I ran the Dyson over the half that the eureka had cleaned and the dyson picked up so much that the eureka missed.

AS far as scratching floors, it has not scratched my hardwood floors and I do vacuum around the edges with it in my house.

"115 Airwatts" !?!?!?!?!

I work in Biomedical engineering, with suction and electronic equipment. It is rated in MMHg, MM H2O, KPA, I've never heard of AIRWATTS. Electrically it would be rated in Amps, Watts, or HP. Something smells here. Also if that's in watts it would be 1 Amp. rather low for a vacuum.

Bought this last time it was offered on home.woot. - It's OK - I thought it was the larger one at first, but I'm OK with the smaller one. It's easy to take up/downstairs, works well on said staircase, and was all in all a decent deal.
AS far as the refurb goes - everything was new except the brush head which had some wear. Everything else was glossy and clear where it needed to be. No dirt in it, filters were new. From what I've seen most people buy the dyson from places that have a decent return policy - and either decide it was too expensive, didn't work like they thought it should, or they had some other issue with it that didn't deal with the machine actually not working. From personal experience - cleans just as well as any other $200 vacuum, but I wouldn't pay more than that for it.

One way to check is to click the community link at the top of the page. It will list the woots that have been offered. It is the first thing I check in the morning when there is a woot-off so I can see what I missed and curse my need for sleep.
