Lots of these going in Texas...

...therefore, Woot is buying these up itself to create faux demand and convince gullible Wooters that this is a popular, must-have item.

Either that, or people are really desperate to move this thing along to the good old Bag of Coal.

There was a sign out front of the restaurant that said "Free WiFi Anytime!", so I went in, slapped in this PCMCIA network card and rocked that WiFi circa 1999. Is this Y2K compliant?

1) PCMCIA: People Can't Memorize Computer Industry Acronyms.

2) Use this to add a second network card to an old laptop and make it into a super-duper configurable powerful router that uses less power than a desktop with two network cards.

That said, I still can't bring myself to even pretend I need one.

Why? Seriously. Most laptops ship with Ethernet. No laptops ship with PCMCIA anymore.

However you'll also need what's called "browser." You can grab a CD of software called Netscape at some specialty retailers.

Thanks for the tip, I just purchased Netscape Navigator Gold! Can't wait to start hitting up Gopher sites.

I heard the next Burgandy Olfactory Center can only be acquired if you are using one of these as your network interface. Better get at least one!

I wonder:

Could I use these for a tile floor?
Maybe a kitchen backsplash?
Coasters for the coffee table?
Skipping across a lake?

This isn't even Burgandy Olfactory Center worthy.

Not only is this a POS, but it's a reeefurbished POS. C'mon woot, did you miss a decimal point here, even at $0.79 this would be a tough sell.

Useful for turning your old 486 craptop into a router running pfsense or something, ONLY if it already has an integrated ethernet port! Otherwise, you'd need two, and the obtrusively dongling protrusion on this card prevents you from slotting two adjacent to each other.

If this was Wi-Fi it would be so old it would require one of the flip up radio antennas.

Loop it to each other and share your laptop with your laptop! See if you can confuse it! I wish they had that for the Gameboy Color back in the day so I could trade Poke'Mon with myself and collect them all!

I would consider buying one as a cheeky retro business card holder, except the super-old 16-Mbyte Cisco flash card (which slides into a PCMCIA slot, but my laptop doesn't have the pinouts for it to actually connect) I have at my desk cannot be taken apart, so I won't waste the money on buying this one only to be disappointed.

You could sharpen the flat end of this... They'd make pretty good prison shanks for $8.

What else could this be used for?
