Today my pages would get stuck, say "done" and then I would have to refresh. By the time I finally got the "buy it" button, I clicked it and then was told "This sale is sold out." I babysat the computer the entire time, but I still failed. Will I ever get another Burgandy Olfactory Center Between all the woot sites, I have "wooted" 159 times (many times 3 items) for a total of 341 items. That's not even counting the two-for Tuesdays. Do you think having too many previous woot purchases has my user id blocked from rc? ...they know I'm going to buy anyway, so why should I have rc? Should I create a new user ID or start using my husbands? I have so much surplus woot I can't even put my(surplus) house on the market until I clear it out.

There is no rhyme or reason to it. Just dumb luck.

It's the same for me. I got 3 in a row last year but since last Oct I've come up with zilch, zip, zero and nada. Got my Christmas bonus today along with a Burgandy Olfactory Center Can't complain for sure today.

No, the first page is "I want one", followed by "this info is correct", and finally "buy it". If you get to the last page and click the button you have a chance. If the next page is blank or otherwise fails to render or times out I back up click the button again (can't hurt).

Erm, I was pretty sure I hit all of the pages, buddy.

I want one --> Credit Card security number --> Confirm address/order (pressed the buy it button at the bottom) --> Started going to but never finished loading "https://www.woot.com/Member/OrderConfirmation.aspx"

So what page is it that you believe I've missed?

I live in CO and I got to the order page right away, but I didn't get a Ballast of Currents until they were almost sold out. It just seems totally random.
And the confirmation page didn't even load when I won the glorious Burgandy Olfactory Center I found out via email - which was probably the most exciting email I've gotten in years.

Been a member since '07, tried and tried to get one of these... At first, I'd stay up for hours upon hours as you never knew when they were going to pop up. I was excited about trying and disappointed when I didn't get one. Lately, they have been popping up at about the same time every time. I check the videos on line and it seems like they have really been crappy these past few times. I no longer wait and I'm no longer disappointed. It was slow at work, checked the time and thought, its about time and so I logged on, I clicked the f5 numerous times after the camera sold out and sure enough, it popped up, and I immediately clicked "I want one" as I have numerous times and sure enough... error 503 as has happened so many times to me. didn't even get to an order page. But hey, I said I'm not disappointed and I'm sure I'll try again someday, but I'm in no hurry... congrats to all who got their umpteenth Burgandy Olfactory Center or for those who got their first, and for those who have been trying this as long as I have and got their first one, you are the ones that are keeping me believing that I will eventually get one.

People tend to blame Woot's servers, but the reality is, your connection takes multiple "hops" before it gets to Woot's server farm. Any one of those hops can fail, causing you to lose out on a Burgandy Olfactory Center

With that said, the critical failures tend to happen at the final "hop." What path your connection takes to Woot's servers determines where you enter their server farm... and that last "hop" into the server farm can actually be funneling in from multiple different paths, each with hundreds or thousands of other people all trying to squeeze through that last hop.

When you're coming from a high populace state with a lot of people Wooting, and when you're using the same provider most of those people are using (Comcast, Time Warner, etc.) you're going to have a higher chance of running into a bottleneck because more of you are following the same path to that final hop.

The speed of your connection can conceivably have impact too, if only from the standpoint of your connection going out a few milliseconds before everyone else on your path - if you get to that last hop before everyone else, you're probably going to get through.

Could Woot open up more paths into their servers? Yes. But if their peers (the places your connection is hopping from) don't play along, it isn't going to do a bit of good.

Anyone who has done a lot of MMO gaming has probably run afoul of this same issue a time or two.

Note for IT pro's: Yes, I have simplified this explanation down to the level of a kindergartener and left a lot out, I know. :p

Dear TPW,

In the spirit of the holiday season, I respectfully request good craps and electronics! Though thou shalt not whine about the crappiness of the crap received, I have little use for a seahorse bag, solar powered doll house, and a set of climate cubes. In all seriousness, really jazzed about winning my 2nd, really hoping it's of more use to me than the last, but i'll appreciate it any which way. Thanks Woot!!!

When you hit that last button and get a white page, reload it. All it takes is one successful POST attempt from the very last page to get an order through.

Haven't won a Burgandy Olfactory Center since April 1st 2011.
But today I did. Bag of Coal!!!!!!!!! Bringing my total of Burgandy Olfactory Center to 8. Thank you Wootazon
~
Went through so smooth too. It's usually not that smooth. Have the Burgandy Olfactory Center been crappy lately? Haven't really checked back to see what Bag of Coal people are getting. Bag of Coal use to be pretty cool.
~
Woohoo!!! Now the countdown until the Burgandy Olfactory Center is delivered.
~
Will it be a Christ-mas themed Burgandy Olfactory Center 8)
~
Looks like the last craps were crappy without a letter. Do the letters occur anymore?
Last crap was Nov, 9th.
