Doesn't say iPad compatible. Must be low current and thus not compatible. Unfortunate.

Woot! Now 100+ woots for me!
That's 87 woots (Including Twelve Bats On Crack!), 12 Sellout.woots, 8 wine.woots and 4 kids.woots, and finally, 2 shirt.woots!

What in the world is the cover needed for?

bmxjimp

This product would be a lot better with two USB outlets. That way on long road trips, my wife and I can both have our phones plugged in.

My username didn't change to jimp for my birthday, but I understand. Thanks, we're good!

A note: last time this came up, no one could find any listing with the output amp rating. So this may not be good for any device above the usual .5 watts that older USB devices like. This means iPad's, and other newer devices may not get enough power from this device.

any chance this lasts 3 days? I'm still waiting on something I like. So far, it's all stocking stuffers and gifts for other people. What about me, woot?

Works on Iphone 4s great, the cover is for when you have it plugged in to the wall. It covers the car plug end. You don't need it it just looks nicer.

Amazon has it for $12.25 (prime eligible):

Anyone know if it is 5W or what output?

(I cannot quite make out what it says in the picture.)

I have one of these and I like it. I think I paid like $15 or so at Best Buy. Just wish it had more than one USB slot though.

You apparently don't own an iPad. The iPad charger supplies 10 watts, and an iPad will REFUSE to charge if you don't use a 10 watt charger.

You can actually get these on eBay in bundle packs for a LOT cheaper. Of course, there is no cover. But really, it's not necessary considering the fact that you are probably going to leave it plugged in the car.

im going off on a limb here but i would say it should work. Honestly I haven't encountered in my time a underpowered usb charging device

Output is a pathetic 0.5A according to the photo. Anything under 1.0A is pretty weak for high-drain devices.

I'm in for one. Can always use one of these.

About 15:45 today, right on schedule...

fwiw, I believe this one is about 500mA output, which is quite low on the scale. Don't confuse the mA rating with the voltage... yes all USB2.0 is 5 volts, but the capacity for output varies widely - some devices charge at 150mA, others require 2,100 mA or more...

Wish this one was documented better...

Not sure I buy that. If it was high output I'd buy 3, because it would charge everything including my tablet. But I have several cheap chargers like this that are only good for small things.

There is a picture of the output rating on this site:

http://www.cyberpowersystems.com/products/accessories/usb-chargers/CPTUC01.html?selectedTabId=specifications&imageI=#tab-box

I was able to make out 1A output at 5V DC

edit: On closer look that is actually 0.5A

Thanks.

So 2.5W plugged into A/C and 4W plugged into DC. Meh. Not so useful for me.

The Blackberry charger I borrowed during a meeting today was unable to keep my Nook Color (running CM7) going for more than about 45 minutes...

This would barely trickle charge an iPad.

If you leave the cover off when it's plugged to the wall, does it generate a repetitive Frankenstein-lab-like wiggly electronic spark between the naked electrode and the ground contact?...

Not impressed. You can buy a Griffin Powerjolt dual USB car charger on Amazon for $6.66 with free shipping if you're on Prime. Smaller than this one, name brand, better output, two USB instead of one, smaller to pack... And of course one click.

But then of course there's the fact that its clearly EVIL.

Mine arrived a few days ago.

FYI the package says there is a tether cord included. There isn't. At least not in the two I've opened. No big deal though.
