Bought the blue ones a few months back. This was the easiest clean-up ever for Thanksgiving!!! I did not have my normal yearly melt down and just throw away the dishes, I highly recommned E

Two quick points:

First, these containers are of only middling quality. The closure system uses fairly flimsy plastic tabs on the top which fold down over plastic bumps on the bottom. It's secure enough, but inelegant and, it seems to me, flimsy.

Second, these are advertised as BPA-free. The set I bought last time from Woot arrived in the flimsy cardboard and plastic packaging that screams bottom of the barrel Chinese manufacturing. Nowhere on the actual containers did it indicate that they were BPA-free. I just don't trust that they are as advertised, I guess.

GRIPE GRIPE GRIPE.

Who has any use for so many little containers. I would like to see a set of decent size, minimum of 2 cups.

These are the best containers EVER! I keep a lot of fresh fruit and veggies in these. They last about 3-4 times longer than any other container. Fresh berries will keep up to about 4 weeks. Just ordered a set, and I think I'll order one more since it's such a great deal.

Agreed that this isn't a great deal. While the Lock 'n Lock containers are high quality and water tight, the containers in this set are FAR too small. You can get a set of these in better more usable sizes (i.e. sandwich and soup sized) at a major online retailer or the Ginormous Happy Faced Mega Retail Store for almost the same price. I'm skipping this Woot non-deal.

I have some and they are very hard to snap locked. They don't leak at all but I like the rubbermaid set better.

Keep in mind these have an upper temperature limit of 210°F. Water reaches a rolling boil at 212°F. In other words, you can't cook in these, or even microwave anything to the point of a rolling boil.

Also keep in mind that foods high in oil or grease will heat higher than 212°F in a microwave. That can melt the plastic so monitor the container carefully. Once the food is reheated, stop the microwave. You can see the effects of overheating in styrofoam takeout boxes from salad bars. Microwaving often results in holes that are brown from frying in the heated oil.

This is true and a vital point.
These things are best for cold or dry storage, but they really aren't meant for high temps. I use the smaller containers for spices or refrigerated sauces. The larger containers I use in the deep freeze or pantry to keep air/funk out.

It is the time of year for discounts, so if you like your soups mouth burning hot, opt for glass storage like pyrex. You can find some good deals on it.

I purchased three sets (2 orange, 1 blue) the last time these were offered on Woot. I love them, particularly for pantry organization. Unfortunately, what I want is more of the bigger sizes, or I would have already ordered.

All of my bigger containers from my last purchase are dedicated to storing and organizing things like oatmeal packets, pasta, dried beans/rice/lentils, Splenda packets, etc. I just need a deal mostly consisting of the medium to large sizes and I'll be in.

These are awesome. I got the ones with clear lids last time they were on woot! and I am so happy. I recycled/threw out all of my other containers. They are air/liquid tight and don't warp or otherwise deteriorate in the dishwasher.

Yes, some of them are small, but they are the perfect substitute for a plastic baggie when packing lunches. I use the little ones for chips/fritos/whatever.

The largest ones will hold small cookies (think spritz or small cutouts) best. If you try to use them for larger cookies, you may not be able to fit many cookies in each one!

Bought a set of these last time they were on Woot just a few months ago. They say they are microwave safe for reheating, but the first and only time I tried reheating spaghetti, the container was stained and and had some damage on the inside (like the typical damage you see when using cheaper microwave containers). Tried contacting customer service about a month ago, still have not heard back.

I bought these the last time they were on Woot, and absolutely love them. Being BPA free is an added bonus.

Before buying these, my Wife and I had a mis-matched set of various different types of plastic-ware that occupied 1 entire standard 2x2' cabinet and one separate drawer for the lids. Now, the full set of Lock & Lock resides in the cabinet, lids and all!

I pack my lunch most of the time, so the small sizes are a perfect 1-portion size and fit easily in my lunch bag. I can also comfortably bring soup for lunch and not worry about spills. Thanksgiving leftovers were much easier to handle this year too thanks to the larger sizes in the set.

I do worry about how long the lids will last, but then again, they are cheap enough that I would happily buy a replacement if anything breaks.

All in all, very happy with my Lock and Lock purchase.

Lock & Lock containers are the best out there, bar none. I know some people prefer the glass variety - for me, the plastic variety have been tremendous. I own many different shapes and sizes of them to the point where I've given away almost all of my others.

The plastic is thicker than most others, and stands up to repeated abuse.

As has been stated earlier, you have to be careful when reheating with them but they can be used in the microwave as long as you don't try to reheat them when sealed (ugly, ugly things will happen if you do).

Also, if you want to run them through a dishwasher cycle, I recommend removing the rubber seal from the lid and washing that by hand so it's not impacted by the heat levels of a dishwasher.

True. There are three larger ones but the rest are small. Also, they don't stack. However, all the good things people have written about them here are also true and we're glad we got them.

cleverett wrote:Wow, if they were selling that set today (even at $19.99), I'd buy it. Those are much more usable sizes for me. That answers my question: Lock & Lock does make sets with only larger containers, and Woot sells them.

I doubt that Woot has much to do with the sets; I'd imagine that Lock & Lock offers Woot a price on a specific set of their containers, and Woot either accepts the price or not. I doubt that any Woot purchasers are putting together custom sets in order to put one over on their customers. (I was a purchaser for both a nationwide reseller and a distributor in a previous life, and in that position you just don't have time to do things like that.) Some of the commenters here prefer the smaller sizes, and for them this is probably a better deal than the one in August. For me, not so much.

Thanks for the info, I'll keep my eye out for a set with larger containers.

Current offer is a 33% increase over the August offer 28 piece $14.99 price but it does include a 78oz container as well as the extra smallish containers.

The key is the "chasing arrows" triangle with "5" and the P.P. under it which is the resin code.

PP (Polypropylene): SAFER
Common Uses: Bottle Caps, Storage Containers, Dishware

Google "plastic BPA ratings" for detailed info; but this a safe type of material.

Does anybody EVER use the smallest containers?

How often are you going to need to store exactly two baby carrots in an airtight container?

I don't use them as often, but the smallest containers are good for condiments. A couple of days ago I used one for salsa to go with my lunch.

I have a slew of this storage ware. After I bought the previous set from Woot I went to the L&L online store. They actually have some good prices on their clearance or on sale pieces. I stocked up on so many pieces I don't have any room left to store more but naturally, I had to buy this set too. No they do not store inside of each other. They will sit on top of each other with the lids on but not stacked inside. Do take up a lot of cabinet space. I love the little containers. Great for left over sauces/condiments and for taking dressings to work. Small Lego pieces.

There have been several posts over the past four pages that have reminded me how handy the smaller containers can be. I use them for everything from craft/office supplies to M&Ms, dressing/sauce/condiments, a few cheese cubes, even cat food leftovers and treats.

Unless they're indicated as the Lock and Lock *stackable* sets nope they don't stack neatly.

I have a couple of Systema small containers as well as many Lock and Locks. The systems are different (at least on the small ones I have) as they have 2 long clips/closures where all L&L's have 4 (each side has at least one clip depending on size of container). The density of the plastic is quite similar. No difference that I've found in the water/air tightness. Hope that helps!

I have to second this. Maybe one or two of them are a decent size for packing lunch, but barely. Two are too big, and the rest are so small I honestly can't find any use for them. This was a disappointing woot for me.

They may be BPA free, but plastic is a poor product for storing, freezing, or heating. I use glass or ceramic...much healthier.
