Same thought. I see that pop up all the time. I would like to get these for my young sister though, I think she'd like them, but I'll end up playing with them mostly since she'll surely lose them all.

Caution, these things will cause you to goof off all day. I've easily wasted hours of "work time" due to these.

Same here, only I don't have a young sister to blame it on. I'd lose them. And the dogs would find them. And the vet bills would be bad.

Best item woot sells. I have about 6 sets and honestly I'm buying this...

Also their pricing is insane compared to most of the other places you can get this. Usually about 50% off.

Some are held for charity, and some for fancy dress, but when they're held for pleasure they're the ones that I like best.

These Are rare Earth magnets. I would expect woot to be selling these at 50 dollars in a few years. Buy 3 now! It's a sound investment!

I was just about to check out a cart on thinkgeek with these tomorrow morning, because I figured "If they didn't show up in the woot-off, they must not be selling them anymore." Go figure!

This works out better, even considering my $10 off thinkgeek coupon and their buy 2 get 1 sale. Especially thanks to the coupon I got from my very favorite Jumbowoot.

Woot = $70 for 4 (2 sets of 2) +$5 shipping
Thinkgeek = $70 for 3 (buy 2 sets get 1 free) + $7.69 economy shipping (-$10 coupon if you happen to have one on a catalog.)

So, $17.50/set vs $23.33/set, before coupons and shipping. If my math is right. I failed geometry in high school, though. Maybe I wouldn't have if I had these to make shapes.

I'm surprised that Woot chose to sell this Yellow set, when Christmas is coming up. They've sold a Red and Green(Teal) set for $29.99 that is much more chromatically appropriate for the season. Even the Gold and Silver sets are more festive. Then again, Woot is an overstock/liquidation seller, and they sell whatever is available.

As you can see by the icon on the lower right, the Red/Green was previously sold around Christmas.

This is probably the best color choice. I bought a couple og the green ones several months back and the green coating is already peeling off. Consider this before buying these with any other color. Just my opinion.

Thankfully they come with carrying cases, because the last thing you need is to worry about magnetic balls just flying all over the place.

I mean it isn't like they stick together or anything and I'm sure they fly around and just haphazardly pop off and go rolling across the floor waiting to trip your boss the next time he steps foot into your cubicle.

Probably would have got this, but I used my coupon on a Woot Shirt, little upset about the new price, and I would have rather seen the christmas pack.

I actually bought this set last year for Christmas gifts for two teenage boys, and they arrived Christmas Eve! They were also well appreciated.

I told myself the next time buckeyballs came up on Woot I would finally cave and buy some for myself. But now the price has increased, grrr. The question is should I wait a little longer on the gamble that the price might come back down in the future? Or should I just take the plunge and go for it, knowing I'm still getting a great deal?

Science lesson for the day: "Rare earth" magnets don't refer to the actual rarity or availability of the magnetic material or magnets themselves, its referring to what they're made of. Magnets like these are made out of neodymium, which is one of the elements in the two rows below the main periodic table, also known as the 'f block' to chemistry students. These elements are called "rare earth" elements, hence the name "rare earth magnets". Sounds fancy, huh? =)
