I don't know exactly but I know you have to turn GPS on:

Put a check mark in the box for this setting:

Settings > Location & Security > Use GPS Satellites

With GPS turned on it will use a little more power than if it's off. If you don't use Bluetooth, go to Wireless & Networks and uncheck that box to save a bit of power.

Sound doesn't work on mine. I'm going to contact Vizio to see if I can get a replacement. Other than that it works well.

One of the speakers doesn't work. Anybody else having this problem? I contacted Vizio and they said that the tablet needs to be replaced but they don't have it stock. Isn't it strange how you can't find these tablets anywhere and even Vizio is out of stock?

I've been tinkering with the tablet and so far am pretty happy. Loaded about a dozen games and have only had 2 issues,
Great Little War Game crashes just before you start the battle (Contacted game maker, they believe it's their fault and are working on a fix)
And Rocket Bunnies is kinda sluggish, which is odd since it plays just fine on my phone, which has the same CPU/RAM, but ah well.

I bought 2 of them (one is a gift) and the gifted one is at 38% battery right now after sitting around for 7 days and 2 hours, mostly on stand-by with some VERY light use every other day.
Using the other one somewhat normally, needs to be charged every 2 or 3 days
So overall, very happy with battery life.

It's no Xoom, but for the price, GREAT tablet! Still considering possibly selling the one for me and getting a nicer tablet, but just seems so hard to justify the cost difference for what you get.

GPS doesn't work for me either.

I had "Use wireless networks" checked as well as "Use GPS Satellites" in Settings-->"Location and Security". When I turn off "Use wireless networks" it never gets past "Waiting for location" when I go into the "Navigation" app.

Does GPS work for anyone I'm wondering???

Mine is in good shape except it loses about 10% of the battery power per hour, even when not being used. That's obviously a problem, so I'll be contacting Vizio for a replacement.

Sorry about the delay, but I have a suggestion, make sure your finger is NOT on the black border, if you swipe from there over the screen, usually nothing happens. Hold your finger on part of the actual display itself for about 1/2 a second, then swipe over

No telling when, your best bet is to watch for them during the next woot-off (that's when they change from doing 1-day-a-day to doing a few in a row for 3 or 4 days). Usually see past items during a woot-off. Check back each day and keep your fingers crossed

If you're near Denver though, I may consider selling mine for what I paid... still waffling between doing that and buying a nicer one, or sticking with this hrm

This is my 3rd Vizio tablet. I bought 1 from Sam's and 1 from Costco and 1 from Woot. That is how happy I've been with them in general. Overall Vizio's customer service is top notch. When I first got the tablet it didn't support Skype. Over time they've rolled out quite a bit of updates to improve the tablet.

For those of you having GPS issues, download the "GPS Status and Toolbox" app from the market. Here is a link.

https://market.android.com/details?id=com.eclipsim.gpsstatus2&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5lY2xpcHNpbS5ncHNzdGF0dXMyIl0.

Let it download the A-GPS data from the internet (make sure you are connected). This GREATLY speeds up the acquisition time. Make sure of course you have a clear view of the sky. The first time I waited almost 20 minutes for my Vizio to get a fix. Even when I fly all over the US now using this app allows me to normally get a fix in about 30-50 seconds even in a new location 2,000 miles away from my last location. Keep in mind that in a city with tall buildings it may be much longer or almost impossible to get a fix at first. Go to an intersection so you have better line of sight to the sky in this situation. Once locked on it will do pretty good. This applies to all GPS units not just the on on the Vizio. My only complaint so far with the GPS is it seems to read about 2-3% low compared to all my other GPS units.

One big plus of this unit is you can use a micro USB connect to charge and not some special connector that only works on this. This is one of the few tablets like this. My HTC phone charger and my Blackberry charger both work fine on it. Kudos to Vizio. I wish my other tablet where like this. Only my HTC tablet does this.

I do love the universal remote control. I wish it had a learning feature but it doesn't. So far it's worked on almost everything except a Maxell sound bar (SSB-1) as I can't find any codes for it or some other device it is similar too.

All in all a great tablet and an amazing deal. I use one of mine mostly for a car PC to monitor the OBD-II settings via bluetooth and the Torque app. I can monitor boost pressure, fuel trim and all kinds of other useful stuff as well as do data logging of my runs at the track.

It would have been nice if it had 3g or 4g as well. Fortunately I have a few other connected tablets and can also use the hotspot on my phone. I probably use this more than any other tablet I have (iPad 3g, rooted Nook color, Motorola Xoom, HTC and Asus Transformer) because I like the size and resolution. It isn't amazing in any one area but really doesn't have any serious faults for what I use it for. I got rid of the stock launcher and life is good. The leather folio is a nice touch and saves your $30. If these are on a Woot-Off I'll definitely pick up another for my kids. Can't be the price and full market support. I do wish though it had Amazon market support. The free app of the day is a nice bonus.

I purchased this for my daughter for Christmas, and yesterday she came to me and told me the speakers weren't working. Sure enough - no sound, and only the Right headphone was putting out sound too.

Called Vizio customer service and they were SUPERB.

I have a Recertified (as opposed to our refurbished) tablet on the way to me to check out and set up, then they are paying to ship hers back to them (with a hold on a CC of course)... I couldn't have asked for better service or response from them, especially since my daughter LOVES her tablet.

Few things,
How do you feel about the Xoom vs Transformer?

Also, which launcher are you using on the Vizio? I've got Zeam and it seams to do well, but sometimes it looks like it needs to reload and redraw the icons when I exit from another app, or even just a settings menu, rather than be there waiting as soon as I exit.

Last, when did you last try the Amazon market? It's working fine for me... give it another try!

I use go launcher EX and ADW but I like Go better for the Vizio.

As for the Xoom vs. Transformer I'll take the Transformer any day. The docking station works great. Only real downsides to me for the Transformer is I wish it had a full size SD card slot and better battery life. I typically don't get any better than the Vizio (6 hours) but at least with the docking station I can almost double its run time. This is one area where the iPad is CLEARLY superior but I am holding out hope for the new Transformer Prime.

So you got your Vizio to work with the Amazon app store? I just tried again and it works. Thanks!

Ya, app store worked as soon as I tried it, so either the Vizio 1.5 update, or something Amazon changed since you last tried? I think I would have returned/sold it right away if that failed, I've "bought" LOTS of free apps these last few months with the intent of using them on a tablet.

I actually looked at go launcher but it looked a little too fancy in the screenshots, and I was worried about performance so I skipped it. But tinkering with it now, seems to be moving along well, thanks for the suggestion!

For your SD card, I think the Transformer supports USB host mode, so you should be able to connect an SD card reader to the USB port I think? Not as easy/compact as just popping the card in the tablet, but if you badly need to read an SD card with the tablet, should get the job done.

I have tried my best to like this tablet, but it has some issues. The batter life is C.R.A.P. It takes forever to charge and only lasts about four hours if you use it lightly. Now? It won't charge tonight.

Any woot veterans that can help me figure out how to return/access the warranty?

Has anyone here had their credit card number recently compromised after calling Vizio support? If so, please speak up so we know if the issue is with Vizio.

Two days ago, my credit card number was used on a fake credit card at 3 close locations in Houston, TX, Randalls, Target, and Exxon. I called the stores and have the suspect on tape and I filed a police report.

This is less than 2 weeks after I gave my credit card information over the phone to a Vizio rep who was unable to authorize my credit card because their system does not allow different billing and shipping addresses. After several hours on the phone, in a conversation with Chase also on the phone with both of us basically yelling at the Vizio rep that we are seeing authorizations but Vizio not seeing them, the Vizio rep talked to his supervisor and gave up and sent a replacement to me (which I am supposed to receive by tomorrow).

Less than 2 weeks later, my credit card number was stolen, and Vizio is one of a couple places I am suspecting that may have compromised my credit card.

I am having a similar issue. I don't remember having seen anything on the Woot specs about it being a Refurbished or re-certified unit. You guys are usually really good about letting us know if that is what we are buying. I purchased 2 of these tablets and used one for about a week before Christmas, and gave the other to my daughter for Christmas. Within 12 hours of each other both of our tablets power ports were wiggly and mine doesn't take a charge at all. My daughters will only charge when the microUSB is pitched at a weird angle and held completely still.

I called and started the warranty replacement process last week, sent in my receipt and got my confirmation email from Vizio yesterday. I then called in to the support line and got it set-up so that I would get 2 NEW tablets in a few weeks (they are waiting for a new shipment is what I was told). I was given the choice between waiting for new tablets or getting re-certified tablets and a $65 Credit for each defective tablet. I chose to wait for new. This evening I got a phone call from support stating that they don't know where Woot got the tablets, that I could only get a re-certified and not a new one and no $65 credit either. The support person stated that she couldn't find the email regarding how they were supposed to handle Woot purchased tablets, but stuck to her guns about my Woot tablet not being a new tablet.

I need some help on what to do here because I really like the tablets and they do exactly what I wanted them to but I don't want to deal with a customer service nightmare. Nor do I want a re-certified tablet if mine is, in fact, new. Gimme the 411 WOOT

When Woot offered this tablet, they did indicate that they were refurbished.

When I received mine, it was literally DOA; it would start, but I couldn't get beyond the first screen. I went through the reset process like others have mentioned, but to no avail. I ended up calling Vizio directly (they have been great - so far) and they're sending me a re-certified VTAB.

One note to pass on: if anyone has contacted Vizio directly and they've agreed to replace your unit and provided you with a UPS tracking number, do the following: under Shipment Reference, 1) enter your Service Request #, 2) designate Destination Country, and 3) enter your zip code. You will now see tracking info. One of Vizio's support reps tipped me off on that. Of course, had I known that a week ago, it would've saved a lot of time and effort on my part trying to determine why the the heck the replacement unit wasn't shipping.

pohlmacs

quality posts: 6 Private Messages pohlmacs

I received my replacement, and it does not have the audio crackling/mute issue. The replacement re-certified unit seems to be working well with no problems in one day of use. I have had to contact Vizio service chat today for them to e-mail me a prepaid shipping label to send the defective one back to me, which they obliged with no push back.

I loved this tablet for the price, especially the GPS.

However, it now refuses to charge. Nothing. Wiggle the cable, no good.

What are my options for support? Contact Vizio?

I still have the box and receipt.

It was connected to my Google account and doing backups to the cloud (I think). When I get a new one how can I restore my settings? Not concerned with individual files, just all the apps and settings.

Thanks!
