My Galaxy Tab I bought 11/29 was perfect and still had all the protective film on it I would expect to find on a new one.

Look at the graphics below, which is lifted from the front page. See the snail icon on the bottom left, that says "Arrives by Christmas"? That icon changes as we approach Dec 25th. In a few days, it'll say, "May Arrive By Christmas." And then a few days after, "Too Late."

When this Woot was first posted, it said "Too Late." The staff then corrected the mistake. See this post. Theguruguys posted "Its shame they won't ship by Christmas" before the correction.

Click on "write us" at the top & ask them nicely (service@woot.com) to add a 2nd one to your order. Hopefully you'll reach them before they're sold out. Good luck!

Customer service at Vizio not sure if it will have ICS but it will run on the tablet. Let’s hope for ICS. They’re not going to do honeycomb.

Each account can only order once per day. That order can consists of 1-3 items. Normally, you can notify Woot to add to your order by forwarding your email receipt to service@woot.com, and adding a note about the change. Unfortunately, this Woot is about to sell out and staff most likely won't get your email until tomorrow.

Your best bet is to create a new account with a different Credit Card and order ASAP. This isn't exactly against the rules because it's talked about openly, even by staff.

Honesty, we're talking about a low-end tablet here. I like mine a lot but I recognize that ICS may not be in the cards. If I really wanted a top tablet, then I would have spent the money required to get one. Either man up the $ or expect something that's in-line with what you pay. Pretty simple stuff. Vizio = value, not cutting edge.

Why do you say that? The official word from Vizio was that Honeycomb will be available once things stabilize. See this post.

This sounds like the classic true story of Chevrolet struggling to sell its Nova in Latin American countries. Executives were puzzled as to why they sold so poorly until someone pointed out to them that "Nova" sounds like "no va," which means "no go" in Spanish. Not a good name for a car.

I passed on these because I already have a Xoom. But now I read that it has a IR Blaster!! These would have made great universal remote controls for my elderly parents with bad eyesight.

Anyone know which universal remote app it has installed?

I don't know the name of the app, but here is a video overview.

i couldn't decide between this or the kindle fire for my daughter's upcoming birthday. thanks for the comment.

YOu might consider getting them an RCA Voice-Controlled 6 Device Universal Remote, which Woot sells frequently. In fact, it was sold on Dec 5th, 2011 for $12.99, I believe. As the name suggests, you can program it to recognize voice commands. Furthermore, it's a learning remote so even if your equipment's codes are not in its database, you can still program it to emulate your remote.

There's a Shipped icon with a snail and light bulb on the blog page.

http://www.woot.com/Blog/ViewEntry.aspx?Id=20746

Does this mean the tablets have shipped?

My order status hasn't changed since placing it.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

No. That icon means that when it is shipped, it will ship via smart post.

I wonder what you do if your device is one of the 5% not supported. Can it learn? Can you feed the codes is from universal libraries?
I wonder if the remote screens can be customized with buttons that act on multiple devices, and if macros are supported (is this a REAL remote, or a gimmick)?

Anyone have info?

Thanks!

Does this tablet have access to (REAL) Market? - YES

I wonder what you do if your device is one of the 5% not supported. Can it learn? Can you feed the codes is from universal libraries? - NO, it cannot learn as it has no IR receiver the only hope is they add your code in an update.

I wonder if the remote screens can be customized with buttons that act on multiple devices, and if macros are supported (is this a REAL remote, or a gimmick)? - NO, The remote app is very limited and you cannot control more than one device at a time nor can you customize or add macros. If you want to call the remote app just a gimmick then go ahead. Still nice feature to have although abit limited

Don't get one if you are hoping for Phillips or Logic Tech type LCD universal remote, you will be disappointed. The only hope is that the hardware is there (less an IR receiver)so lets hope some 3rd party makes a better app for it.

This also supports Google maps and has GPS built in.

My GF will be disappointed as well. The longer the wait the greater the reward. What's with all the hate on the board. If you don't have anything helpful to say don't say anything at all. Giving bad reviews is one thing, posting slander is just dumb.

It looks like they're shipping. Mine showed up in "track by reference". It shows as shipping via FedEx Home Delivery, which is probably what they needed to do to get it to us before Xmas (thanks Woot!). No estimated delivery date however.

Edit/Update: my FedEx tracking now shows a delivery date: Dec 16, 2011.

To be honest, at this price I am simply hoping for something that's "better than terrible". I'm not expecting iPad like performance, but I would like to be able to play some basic games, stream music, watch youtube/netflix/hulu and surf the web.

I did the research, I still won't know till I hold it.

I'm pretty sure FedEx Home Delivery is FedEx Ground; the slowest, cheapest method available. Still, within a week we should have them.

Go to the fedex tracking page, select "track by reference", put in your Woot order # and your zip code & if it's in FedEx's hands, it will show up (along with the official tracking #).
