I love salt/sweet combinations, but I can't stand pretzels! They are too dry, starchy, bland, whatever. How about french fries and icecream, though?! They are the best!

ciarlar wrote:pretzel m&ms - brilliant idea, heart-breakingly disappointing execution. the only reason? the chocolate is so sub-par, the salt is PERFECT for highlighting that fact, which makes them nasty.

I agree. I was so disappointed when I tried them, and I couldn't pinpoint it at first, but you're exactly right. If the chocolate were better, those would be GOLD.

At first glance I thought this was a general sweet/salty poll, so my first thought was of my grandmother. When she would make a chocolate cake, she wouldn't have a slice at dinner, but later at night, she would cut a piece for herself and eat it with a handful of Pringles.

I forgot about Take 5. They're awesome BUT Trader Joes has a peppermint yogurt dipped pretzel chip thing that is especially good for the season.

tl;dr the comments, so this may have already been mentioned: Pretzel bun burger or roast beef sandwich. I first saw it on 'Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives', and lemme tell ya, they're a pain to reproduce. Well worth the effort, though.

Jumping on board with the take five crowd. Good combo. We let the kids make caramel apples a couple years ago and to use the left over caramel I poured a 1.5x8 inch line of slightly broken up pretzel ties on wax paper and poured the caramel over them, when cool I poured melting chocolate over that to make my own super "take five" bar. Man was that good, with a little of the extra salt from the bottom of the pretzel bag sprinkled over the top.

Also have to slam the pretzel M&M. I don't get it. Everyone likes chocolate and pretzel. How can they get it so wrong. Hershey's needs to counter and show them how it's done with a pretzel kiss.

Butter Toffee peanuts! Sweet, salty, tooth-breaking crunchy and oh so good with an ice cold beer.

Of course in these tighter economic times, Beer Nuts are the go-to alternative.

And to save someone else the trouble, I'll ask the eternal question: What's the difference between Beer Nuts and deer nuts?

Sugar 'em up and send 'em home

You start with the dark chocolate covered pretzels, but you break 'em up into a chocolate & dulce de leche milkshake.

On another note: such a thing exists as pretzel cones?

I need to find me some of that.
