Former bridal shop owner here - I used a commercial Jiffy steamer on everything in the store with no problems at all.

A tip to reduce splatter and droplets - the higher you can keep the head of the steamer, the better. If the tube is allowed to tilt down, you'll get splatter. If you're doing pants and need to be lower to the ground for a minute, bring the head back up and let it puff out steam for a few seconds before continuing.

Another tip - if it's possible steam from the inside of the garment, pressing the head against the cloth whilst holding the garment taught. You'll see steam coming out from the outside. This is the best way to get rid of wrinkles, especially on thick or heavy fabrics. On more delicate fabrics, you don't need to pull taught, but steaming from the inside will still work better. Be careful though, you can burn yourself.

Last but not least, use distilled water if you can. It will increase the lifespan of your steamer.

Steamers are the greatest!!! Especially for people like me that are awful at ironing.

As the vendor/manufacturer of this product, we can assure you that it will work finr on any type of fabric. People use if for many different applications. Why not a car? Great Idea!!

Same goes to fabric blinds and curtains (as some asked.) as well as microfiber sofa... and more.

Probably, but a better choice for that would be a hair drier since it would provide DRY heat. Main reason locks freeze up in the first place is internal moisture.

As manufacturer of this product. The telescoping pole is adjustable in height.

so yes, lower it for the picture, extend it when you are steaming a long coat etc.

You will need a cloth in your other hand to wipe up the dirty condensed moisture if you use this for cleaning, rather than wrinkle removing. Most steam CLEANERS have a vacuum attachment to pull up the water, or at least an absorbent pad.

As the vendor and manufacturer of this product.

This Sunbeam Garment Steamer (S1400) is indeed a 1500 Watts steamer.

(even if the model # or other websites would make you think differently).

My mother hung new drapes on her sliding glass doors and they are terribly wrinkled. My iron died just the other day, I use it every morning. Guess what, at this price I'm in for one! I will bring it with me next time I visit my mother and take care of those curtains. Thanks for the tips on using distilled water, I will stock up.

This one has a hook on top for your hanger, so you can steam your garment safely.

I worked as a suit salesperson for a while, and we used a similar steamer to remove wrinkles from every garment that came off the truck.

My manager was a former Army officer, and he expected every suit, shirt, and tie to hang perfectly even and wrinkle-free. Sometimes he made us go over to the shoe department and shine their display models. If steaming was good enough for him, it's good enough for you.

I've used one on fabric roller shades that come wrinkled from the factory. Works fast and great! Also helps loosen stains in the fabric, easily blotted away after that.

Just this morning, I was lamenting the demise of my Rowenta steamer (killed by mineral deposits resulting from my use of tap water), and here Woot has offered me a suitable replacement at a price I can actually afford. Perfect timing, thank you! In for one, and this time, I'll be using distilled water!

The other option is to get a Britta and filter the water of deposits before using.

To all others invest in a water softener and save all your appliances from damage.

teedo757 wrote:My wife said no but I do most of the ironing so I am thinking yes. Before I do the unthinkable and order this after being told no by the wife I need some reassurance that this works. She said her sister had one and it stunk and did not work well. I am looking to use it for my dress shirts (cotton) since I hate spending the time to iron them. Does this do as well a job as an iron getting wrinkles out or will I still need to iron the shirts? Is this just a "refresher" to get small wrinkles out or can I take my shirts out of the dryer, stream them and then have them ready to wear?

If you're just ironing to get the wrinkles out because you left the clothes in the basket for two weeks, this is perfect. If you're pressing your shirts to get them perfectly starched, this will not work.

If I use this to get the wrinkles out of the 'skivvies' that I am wearing, will I end up being 'really steamed' or just end up with a pair of hot-pants?

He wanted to wear his favorite shirt, but didn't have time to wash it. He was in a hurry and thought steam-cleaning his shirt while he wore it would save time. Instead, he got a minor burn. He told me he saw an infomercial once that showed someone cleaning their clothes while they wore it and thought this was the same. He learned his lesson the hard way...
