Another half off. These things are awesome. I've got this HD video of off roading near Mt Saint Helens that blows my mind.

As for cameras like this I don't think I've seen woot selling them which could be an exciting trend. I might be in for one at this price.

Here's one of my friend's most recent (pretty) videos. He doesn't seem to have it in Super HD but it gives you a good idea of the feel: Video Link

these are *great* helmet cams. if i hadn't just gotten a contour on amazon, i'd be on this like purple on eggplant.

this is the best price i've seen, too.

I know what you mean. I thought I got a great deal on my Contour when I got it for $140.

My only complaint is that these have more fish eye that I would like.

The heck with the camera - I want to try that flight test!

I wonder how hard it would be to adapt this to a tripod mount - I've been considering a GoPro for in-car track video, and this price is very tempting but a helmet mount is useless to me.

I have been wanting one of these for a long time. While I would love the Hero2... better color, wider view, etc...comparison video here ... for $129, I may just have to buy this one until I can afford the Hero2. Hmmm...

Thought anyone?

ive seen people rig it up to their recaro/sparco headrest, and ive seen someone affix it to their headlight housing somehow.

There's a $8 mount to have this work with a tripod.

Tripod mounts are available for under $10 from GoPro and many online retailers.

I have one I use as a dash cam. Really good quality video during the day, but not good enough for nighttime video recording.

At night, you can't make out license plate numbers, even on lighted streets. And any headlights completely glare out the image.

I'm still looking for a good dash cam for day and evening use if anyone has any ideas...

This is the first generation. They just came out with gopro hero2 that has better lowlight capabilities and more frame rates. If that means nothing to you, then this is a great deal for a fun, waterproof, and pretty much indestructible camcorder. They are a lot of fun and if you are outside in the day, the video is crystal clear. Their tv commercials are shot with them and they hold their own on hd channels.

Here is the Vimeo page with a bunch of cool examples of what this camera can do.

The sticker mounts for these are rated to 200 mph, so I don't know what your driving but I bet it will work.

Figures. I just got this cam for like $250 at Best Buy not long ago.

This thing is fantastic, it must be said. However we have had some serious light issues with ours. If you're not out in the sun, the picture gets really grainy. My little used in trekking around a swamp. With the canopy above blocking out the sun, the vids weren't all that great. Also, going in and out of the sun appears to have given this thing a small stroke or something. The vids get really weird when the light level changes quickly.

The second drawback is that you can EASILY double the cost of the cam on the extras. Extra mounts, different mounts, the chest harness, the attachable screen, SD cards, the extra battery, etc.

BUT...if you are in a spot where the light will be pretty high and constant, it is bloody fantastic! And it's dead simple to use once you get used to it, even without the screen.

Very highly recommended, and at this price, It's just an unbelievable deal!

This is a really good piece of equipment. If you search the GoPro on youtube, you will be amazed. Hodgsonhawaii for surf shots and this guy does a good job on helmet versus chest mount.

And more on mounting.

Are these(first gen) able to do 3d? I know you have to have a sync cable though.

I was literally pricing out GoPros on the internet about 2 hours ago. This is crazy. I prefer the motorsports package, but I can always buy all that stuff (mainly the suction cup mount) separately. Too bad it's not the Hero 2.

I bought the tripod adapter. It attaches to the plastic outer shell, not the camera. It works fine. Very stable, but a little bulky.

I knew the prices would drop a bit from it's original $300+ with the GoPro2 and GoPro3D coming out, but when I saw this was the Amazon Gold Box deal of the day on Nov 26th for $169.00 (at least $30 less than I'd ever seen it before) I jumped on it. Dang, if I only knew woot come through. At this price, all I can say is wow!

If you plan to do lots of underwater video consider getting the eyeofmine.com housing that doesn't have the convex cover over the lense.
