Amazon Link - About $500 there... But that is new...

It's an alright deal, you'll save about $80 (I take that back, $180 so many Toshiba Satellites out there!... Woot seems to love Toshiba Stuff though... Probably will find some accessories during a Woot Off!

It's about on par with their usual sales laptops too, not a huge discount but a good value.

:P

LED displays are nice...

this one seams to be a previous model however, looks like the current is Toshiba P775D-S7360

however it is a bit more cash... but not a refurb as well..

hmmm...

I find the write up rather preposterous, the 17.3" display would never heat up near the same temperature as the circuitry, you could never evenly cook a perfect Penni!

I'm not saying stupidity should be punishable by death, but if we take the warning labels off of the products the problem would cure itself

17.3" display with Intel integrated graphics? It's definitely not a gaming machine but would be okay for movies.

My mom just got the C675-S7321 (slightly different version of the one Woot is selling), and it's a great laptop so far -- bright screen and it loads fast. The sound is horrible, though... sounds like it's one of those old transistor radios. I don't know if the one Woot is selling is the same.

Don't look at me, I'm hideous!

Eleven bags of crap and counting.

Agreed, not a gaming laptop... if one is looking for a gaming laptop and a toshiba, I would highly recommend the Toshiba Qosmio Gaming Laptop series.

I've owned a x505 for 3 yrs now and love it.

18" display fast video, cpu, mem...

it's showing it's age these days, but still better than your average new laptop...

but they do start at 1k...

Hmmm... I wonder. If I make that sandwich a double decker grilled cheese panini can I say that it has a "dual core?"

Sigh, no HDMI..

ref: comments on amazon

which really limits it's use for even movies...

i'm telling ya, its a Qosmio or nothing with toshiba : ) I'd love to see one of those on woot sometime : )

Hey Woot Staff,
You might want to remove the following line from the Features Section....
"Enjoy the ability to pinch, swipe, rotate or scroll through images on the display screen with a simple brush of your fingers"
I do not believe that this has a Touch Screen.

[Moderator: Fixed to refer to the touchpad. THANKS!]

That is one delicious looking grilled cheese sandwich. I'm seriously going to have to make one right now. woot style.

Edit: That was a good sandwich. If you want to make your sandwich extra awesome sprinkle some shredded sharp cheddar on the outside and grill for a crispy cheesy exterior.

No, but it has a touchpad with MultiTouch which I can only assume works with some viewer app.

Well, $spouse just bought one, having been looking at the C675-S7308 for about $550, after complaining about how horrible her netbook is. Can't say I blame her, and I've always had good luck with Toshiba laptops. I've been meaning to move my hard drive back to my Satellite S131, just for the additional memory and larger screen size (1280x800 vs 1024x600 on the netbook). If these are still available when I wake up on Sunday, I'll probably get one myself for home use, and reserve the netbook for my (limited) travel...

Oooooh, good catch. You read the description! THANK YOU!

However, that bullet point has been edited to refer to the touchpad which does have those nifty neato features. If you happened to buy this thinking it had a touchscreen, welllll.... email service@woot.com to cancel your order if you wanna.

If I buy this, will the sandwich be included?

Can somebody at least include a link to that picture of a sandwich?

WOW, a 17"+ laptop for $329 ... who would have thunk?

SOme thoughts...

- Hardware wise, it's a desktop replacement with its large screen large keyboard and even a numeric keypad. Unfortunately, the Dual Core 2 ghz CPU is slow. But if you're a typical non-gaming home user who word processes and websurfs, this should be fine

- LED backlit display is energy efficient and less prone to breakage,

- Has a webcam which is not always the case in such low cost laptops

- Come with 4gb RAM which should be sufficient for most users. I've seen laptops in this class come with only 2 gb

- Drive is pretty small at 320gb, but one can always easily add an external drive. 5400 rpm is standard for laptops. It's slow but energy efficient

- Touchpad has multi-touch so you can do gestures as one can on a capacitive tablet. I've never seen a touchpad advertised with this ability before but my guess is that all Touchpads can be multitouch as long as there is a driver or software to support it

- Only has 2 USB 2.0 ports while most 17" laptops have 3 or 4. And this is only USB 2.0 when USB 3.0 is now out,

- No HDMI out, or eSATA for high speed backups.

- No PC Card or ExpressCard slot so there is no real expansion capability except through USB. For example, there is no way to add USB 3.0.

- No special multimedia buttons or features. On the plus side, that makes for a much sleeker and neater keyboard

- Pretty light for a 17" laptop.

- Larger keyboard means a larger case, which means more air running through the components. This laptop should run very cool, especially given the slow CPU and hard drive.

All in all, a great very usable laptop for a typical [non-gaming] student, and even older parents. At $329, it's bargain.

I think shipping the sandwich in the laptop would void the warranty.

However, you'll always find photo credits with a link at the bottom of the sales page so click and drool.

No, I did not buy one but I did go to the Toshiba web site to check their specs.

I don't think that's a typo since it doesn't claim that there is a Touch Screen. It simply says that "images on the display screen" can be manipulated with gestures. If I'm not mistaken, all laptop touch pads are capacitive sensors that can accommodate multitouch gestures via software. You can indeed "scroll through images on the display screen with a simple brush of your fingers" on the touchpad.

In for one. My last laptop (HP) shorted out on me a few weeks ago. I happen to have the funds and wanted a 17" as an upgrade. DONT play games or edit video and plan on dual booting OpenSuse with XP: so more then enough horsies under the hood.

It pisses me off whenever manufacturers try to mislead consumers by slapping the letters HD on any old screen. A 1600x900 screen is not high definition, anything labeled HD should be above 1920x1080.

It's $334.99 shipped! At this price point the word "gaming" should never be used. Anyone serious about gaming is going to shell out over a thousand dollars, or simply go with a desktop computer with a good graphics card, larger display and hooked up to a 7.1 surround system (not so portable). This laptop is for an office worker who occasionally brings their work home with them. You get what you pay for, a machine that is built for basic needs, and doubles as a portable DVD player.

From my personal experience with Toshiba, they build their laptops to last. I've had mine for 6 years now, and it still has all of its original parts. It has even been dropped several times from a distance of 3 feet on to a carpeted floor without any ill-effect, though I wouldn't recommend testing that. I originally paid just over a thousand dollars for my laptop to play World of Warcraft. It has 2gb of DDR2 RAM, an Intel Core Duo processor rocking 1.86 Ghz, and a 120 Gb hard drive. It runs WoW, not well, the frame rate is slow, but what do expect?

I bought one of these Toshiba refurbs last month from deals.woot when it was $299, not sure if it's the same model but the specs are similar. It's a good investment for my kids as a Christmas gift. I got it about 2 weeks ago and so far it's been good, but I haven't messed with it much except to runn a bunch of Windows Updates, rip out Norton AV, install Avast AV, install antispyware and OpenOffice, and remove some of the bloatware.

My wife griped that we should have bought 2 of them. So I'm thankful this one came up. Wish it was before Christmas, but one of my kids has a bday in January, so this will work out fine.

One thing I did have a concern with was shipping, they dropped it off at the front door and left it! Fortunately my wife was only gone to pick up my daughter from school so it wasn't alone for long. I'd much rather sign for it but that me. I suppose this will be delivered the same way so I have to watch the delivery schedule.

I have a Satellite I bought in 2004, an A70 (Canadian model) that, other than a battery that no longer holds a charge and a fiddly power connector due to a cat landing on it jumping on my desk a few years back, is still kicking ass and taking names today.

Toshiba makes great products.

I own basically this laptop except I have the Costco version from 9 months ago.

So I have a smaller screen 17 true inches (Much smaller).

People say that all laptops are alike but I have bought Toshiba's for 12 years now. My last died because the screen would not stay up.

I paid $699 for mine I wish I had waited what a deal.

Only problem with the Toshiba is been PRINTER DRIVERS. This answer took three hours on the tech support. Be sure to only down load PRINTER drivers using Internet Explorer not Fire Fox!

There I saved you hours of bizarre problems.

Woot on!

Merry "war on" Christmas
