So should I get one of these before I head to bed? Or should I just get a Motorola Xoom Family Edition?

Well parents are the same no matter time nor place / So to you other kids all across the land / Take it from me / Parents just don't understand

Depends what you use it for. Can you get a $39 adapter for the droid toys that let you plug in an XLR mic with phantom power? Then pick from a half dozen audio recording and editing apps? (Works on iPhones and Touches too). That, plus some good writing apps are a media content makers friend. (Too bad the camera is crappy...Jobs must not have done a lot of photography.)

To those that are wondering why you need a tablet if you have a laptop, the answer is you don't NEED one. The same way you don't need a pressure washer to clean your sidewalk. You could use a broom and hose....isn't that fun?

I just sold my rooted CM7 Nook Color to a co-worker, and missed out on 1saleaday's 32gig Xoom by 3 minutes (two days ago). 64gig Playbook (now with Android market ability) is only $299 new, but I think I want bigger than 7 inches (that's what she said!). In for one. It's only money after all!

If you have a TouchPad, you already have a 10-incher ... with android apps coming next month.

Yeah, I know. I originally bought the TP to install Android, but I've come to really enjoy WebOS. Just can't bring myself to mess with it yet, hence the search for a 10 inch Android device.

Where is this information?

I looked at today's product page and don't see any mention of how it will be shipped. This would be golden to know for future possible purchases at least in my case. SmartPost takes a ridiculous amount of time to arrive. I still haven't received my 16gb Thrive as the package languishes for days on end at each stop.

I see that these are refurbs, but does anyone know what was actually broken that they needed to fix?

I doubt there is anyway to know that. I do know that many are "open box" returns with all Factory Refurbished items.

morriea wrote:The 'Cloud' comes in many forms. I use a very simple setup through DROPBOX. Download it to you PC, Phone and tablet (for Android it is in the Market). Simply drop stuff into the App from any of the devices and it will be accessible on the others. On your PC just go to dropbox.com.

Also, using the Amazon Market or Google Market you can purchase Apps and just leave them there...download as needed and uninstall if you need room....you ALWAYS own them and can just re-install as needed. Great for the FREE Amazon Apps every day.

Thank you. I've heard of Drop Box but had no idea that it was all automatic. I will definitely have to download ASAP. For a phone I use an iPhone 4s. Love the cloud on it and I'm sure I'll love it for the Thrive. Thanks again.

Well, dropbox is automatic from your PC to the cloud, but from cloud to phone/tablet, it does not automatically download everything.

I THINK you can pick "favorites" that it will keep up to date now, haven't looked in to it lately, but a few months ago it didn't auto sync at all, you needed to manually up/down load anything... it had some uses, but frustrating to come from the full-auto PC app to that on the phone.

Yours has a problem then. Mine is automatic in that everything is available on all of my devices. It does not DOWNLOAD to all devices, but is available to download...that is the point. My stuff is being STORED elsewhere(the 'CLOUD') and not using valuable memory. Simply choose what you want, and download it. (internet connection needed, but that is true of ALL cloud storage).

Ah glad they got it to be more automatic. A while back I was looking for a way to have it automatically upload photos from my phone, but you had to do it 1 at a time, also I recall needing to re-download my keepass file any time I made changes to it on my PC if I wanted to see those changes on the phone file.

Yes...you do need to choose that which you place in dropbox. Every change does not happen unless you move the file to the icon. That just makes sense. SKYDRIVE is a good way to actually make changes to documents in the cloud.

While I am on the CLOUD topic...since this is an Android Tablet you will need a Gmail account. You get FREE cloud storage with it and can edit documents and store them with googledocs.

A lot of you people crack me up.... "Why by this when you can wait 2 months and get a quad core.... but then I'll wait 6 more months for the 6 core tabs.... but before I buy one of those I'll wait 6 more months for the 8 core tablets.... but I won't buy one yet!.... because in 2 years they'll be releasing the 12 core tablets....." You can all waste your time nit picking about which one to buy while I'll be enjoying my Thrive

I just came across a Thrive forum issue where in users were complaining that their screen cracked while cleaning/using. While this may have happened due to excessive pressure, has anyone experience the issue with normal usage??? ... If its just cheapo glass on a expensive pc of hardware .. am hoping Toshiba fixed the issue before selling them
