I bought the similar ones for a cell phone in a recent woot. They work great, are truly watertight.
in my camera case, little pillow is what makes it float so when it falls overboard it stays dry and retrievable.

If this would protect my ipad from other types of fluid besides water, then I might be in

a Ziploc bag works very well to protect an ipad against splashes, dirt, greasy fingers in the kitchen, etc., and allow you to work the touchscreen just fine.

Okay, so I bought two. One to give to a friend for his iPad and one for me just in case my 10.1 Galaxy tab happens to fit. (Look, I drop things a lot. Ziplocs don't come with a wrist strap, dammit!). If it's not a fit, I guess my son's Star Wars action figures will have a fun new spaceship for rainy days. Suck it, Anakin!

Had to get one of these for my 8" Vizio Andriod Tablet which i got in December. Planning to use it as a Marine GPS (with EarthNC for Android) for my boat this summer. Can't wait.

The beauty of Woot you only spend $5 but it is worth $20.

I can actually see this coming in handy!! I was at an outdoor show ( Rick Springfield..don't laugh he is REALLY good live...even the men were shocked!) and it rained. I have never seen so many ppl scurrying around looking for anything waterproof/resistant to protect their smart phones..if it was water resistant it was being wrapped, torn off of something and cuddling a phone.

People get real creative when trying to protect their phones!
