I have to say, my Rokus have been the best gadgets I've ever purchased. And that's saying a lot since 1) I'm a geek, 2) I have an iPad 2.

Woots since 9/2/2008: Woots 34 (Barrels of Crud 8), Kids 3, Shirts 2, Wine 1, Sellout 2. = a bunch of useless/useful items.

Interesting, I was just looking at the XD 2 today. I wonder if the "new version" is worth the extra $25.

Is it compatible with my TiVo?

Also, does it need to be hooked into my computer or is it a stand-alone?

Yeah. And so does my XBox 360, my PS3, my Wii, my cell phone, and oh yeah... my f#$^ing COMPUTER.

Does the PS3 do Amazon Instant? News to me.

Apparently this is the fun the Colonel was talking about. Getting us all worked up like a bunch of little school girls waiting to go to an NSYNC concert.

All you folks far removed from the east coast are gonna have an extra good shot at the upcoming baggo as us on the right coast head for the cars and spend the next hour or so commuting homeward.

Should be up right after the next item.

Recently bought the new Roku LT and it is awesome. I was actually wanting to get one of these older XD versions however because they still have an ethernet port. The newer versions (besides XS) don't have them. Thinking of picking up this one for the bedroom now!

If it works like the WDTV live and Aios media players I have that's a great price so you can share all your media content easily on your network to your TV.
I use both players all the time and even picked up a HD Home Run Prime so I can cap all my favorite shows in HD from cable and play them on my network after editing them down. I don't know how many media files it supports but for this price if your even curious it's worth a gamble.

I just use my husband's PS3 for all of the same functions. We found one of the last "old" PS3s in the area, by accident, on a super sale, with a bundle package. It's just as good, AND it plays video games.

Newer != Better (in all cases). Sorry. The original Roku's had wired ethernet in addition to wireless, and an optical audio out. The new ones don't have the wired ethernet unless you buy the most expensive one.

Bought this same thing as the Dec 5 woot. I love it! My 8 year old niece loves it, too, primarily because of the Disney Stars and Disney Music sections under the Disney Roku channel. There's a whole Selena Gomez series of interviews & videos that she enjoyed while I was washing dishes, way out in the other room where I didn't have to hear or see it.

It's also kinda cool to take one of these boxes and velcro it onto the back of an old monitor. Instant WiFi-TV conversion. Great for the kids room.

PS3 doesn't have an Amazon Prime application, so if you ponyed up for their shipping program and want to enjoy the videos as well, you need an alternate source for streaming.
