You think this would shift quicker if it was labelled an iKeg?

To make root beer or birch beer you simply mix the flavoring stuff into a bunch of water and some sugar and bottle it. It comes out pretty good. There's no actual brewing with those kinds of things.

I used to make beer for a number of years. Over 300 gallons in batches of 5 gallons at a time. It was GREAT. Mostly I made brown ales but my oatmeal stouts were excellent. Ummmmmmmm beer.........

Just bought this. I have one already, love it to bits. For $19 that's the cost of the darn refill, and I'll get another set of the PET bottles (which are actually *fine* for storing beer).

God it's a great system. No sediment either in the beer, all of my carboy friends are jealous....

That could be because smart phones, tablets, and other devices have been slowly killing the MP3 player market over that period of time.

Yes, you can use supplies from your local homebrew shop, you just need to use half as much per batch. This is great for those of us interested in having 2 to 2.5 gallons going at once and not 5 gallons going at once... or who would rather have multiple small batches. No, the standard recipe as included isn't spectacular (especially if you rush it as fast as the directions suggest), but there are better refill kits on their site--or on Amazon.

Yes. You bottle carbonate with this kit, meaning you add a little sugar to the bottle as you are bottling, and in a week or so the remaining yeast in the beer converts that sugar to alcohol and carbon dioxide, carbonating the beer in the bottle.

Bottle carbonated beer tastes a little different than force-carbonated beer. It feels like bottle-carbonated beer has smaller bubbles.

You can make root beer, but you dont want to mix the equipment. you never get the root beet flavor out of the fermenter or the bottles

It's not the same price as Amazon. They have the deluxe kit without bottles for $25. This woot is for the premium kit with bottles, which is $38 on amazon.

I've been using this system for a couple years, and most of the beers turn out great, and I don't mean crappy miller lite/coors/bud great (for some reason people actually consider that great), I mean craft brewery great. If you get the premium beer malts they taste even better. I got their premium nut brown and it turned out better than the local microbreweries. You can also use this for from scratch brewing, and they sell scratch ingredients on their site including different types of yeast.

I grabbed one so I can do 2 batches at a time now.

I don't mean to be the beerer of bad news, but there is a lager who was cutting down trees in the woods and is aleing. He needs a stout hand for assistance.

This kit is an INEXPENSIVE and GREAT way to find out if you like the hobby! Don't listen to the haters...it makes decent beer if you follow the instructions. If you were thinking about home brewing, this is the BEST way to get introduced to it.

I just had to post to say I actually had a math teacher in high school named Mr. Boozer.

I also bought one of these about a year ago. Made 8 batches of semi-drinkable beer, and one batch of pretty damn good beer, by most standards (lots of dry hops!).

This is definitely a good gateway to "real" homebrewing, I'm just now buying my "big boy" brewing kit, I'm ready to take it to the next level...

They're not yuck. They're pretty decent actually. Good starting point for someone looking to get into brewing. I enjoy experimenting with their recipes and I get a fairly good brew. Doing a Russian Stout now.

Do yourself a favor and go to your local homebrew store. They'll be helpful and willing to tell you what you need, and you'll have a greater appreciation for brewing.
