We use one of these for parties. People always have their own songs on their phone and with this anyone can plug in and share thier tunes. They can be the DJ...unless you invite the guy that bought the Pro DJ system last night then he's the DJ.

Please note this will not charge your device, only play music through it's speaker.

well then what are those 3 usb ports for?

Why? Just because the MSRP is $80 is no indication of actual value.

How is it MSRP when they have a store on their site and that's what they were selling it for????

Though since it is also a usb hub, couldn't it then be used (in conjunction with your favorite usb syncing cable) to charge your favorite device? :P

"iLuv iSP200 Stereo Speakers with USB Hub for PC and Laptops." "Everyone knows that you can never have enough USB ports on your computer and this speaker bar gives you another three to work with." "I tried using one of the USB ports to plug in the Apple charge cable so I wouldn't run down my battery if I got carried away listening to music and fell asleep while it was going. I don't think it worked. It didn't reflect that it was charging and the battery still seemed really low when I finished."

It's to connect your laptop or computer. Those quotes are from some of the Amazon reviews. Others have tried to use as a charger and have failed. Consider yourself warned.

I have a monitor w/ no built in speakers. I don't really know _why_ they even make those anymore, but they do. Clunky or not, this would actually be useful for that. Less clunky than the old two-piece speakers (although you could adjust separation with those...)

1.0 out of 5 stars Deserves a Bad Design Award, October 27, 2010
By RuthAlice "ruthalice" - See all my reviews
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: iLuv Stereo Speakers for Mac/ PC and Laptops (iSP200BLK) (Personal Computers)
The iluv speakers definitely deserve a design award for the most poorly designed and worthless user-unfriendly design of any product associated even tangentially with Mac products. First there are two cables to connect the speaker to the laptop. One is of an acceptable length but the other is hallf its length. They both have to go the same distance, but one is twice the length of the other. That alone tells you the lack of thought and common sense that went into the creation of this unusable worthless equipment. The cord is too short for it to work with a laptop on any surface other than a desk and then only if the speaker is right next to the laptop. It is the stupidest, most worthless piece of junk I have ever wasted money on. Then to top it off, when I finally sat the speaker on the arm of my chair because the cord is too short for anything else just to hear how it sounded, it was tinny and pathetic. The sound is only marginally better than the built-in speakers...which begs the question. Why bother spending money if you don't even get decent sound. Unfortunately, I put the packaging in the recycling before I tried it out, assuming that iLuv would not produce something this craptacular or i would have returned it. as it is, it isn't heavy enough to be a doorstop so it really is a useless lump of junk.

Anyone know if it happens to work (as wished) if you plug a USB wireless adapter in it?

If not, anyone know how I could play music from my mac wirelessly to a couple speakers?

Thank you for pointing that out. I was going to plug in my smart phone to charge it, while playing music. Guess I would have to plug the phone into a wall charger instead? So why would there be 3 USB ports? You're not going to plug in a desktop and 2 laptops into this at the same time! What else would you plug into it sumultaniously?

Probably not a fair comparison. My opinion when compared to Sony or Samsung bars. Yes, I've heard them. The bass seems to fizzle out kinda quickly. The lower the frequency, the less volume there is. High notes were okay. Midrange seemed less than the other two in volume.

Well, I am in for one. I have nothing but my laptop's built in speakers, and since I am on it more than my desktop, what the heck?
Plus, I can plug my iPhone into it for extra speaker assistance when watching a video or listening to music, sans earplugs.
Plus, Woot gives a money back guarantee, so what do I have to lose?
I am a true audiophile, but you have to compromise for price occasionally if it isn't your top priority to play laptop tones (yes, I mean computer tones, not tunes) on the Onkyo. (My Audio/Video receiver.) Love my Onkyo!
Wish this forum would go back to worthwhile reviews, instead of whining and junk posts. I am just saying...
