I got mine on the 9th and have been playing/tweaking it the past few days. Coming from someone who doesn't have a smartphone, I think it,s fantastic. It's my first real piece of the future, and unfortunately' I can't stop playing Angry Birds.

For those with CM7 installed already, is Netflix a little blurry for you? is it assuming I have a phone resolution instead of a tablet?

Got mine last week but included a broken usb cable (the micro usb portion was snapped in half). I used my sisters cable and it all looks good. Been playing with it for a couple of days with no issues other than getting a new cable.

So after my TP working perfectly for the past few days, I now have a strange wifi problem. My TP is fully updated and I was connected to my router and surfing with ease. The next day I powered up and saw that it wasn't connected to my network anymore. In fact when I opened up wifi preferences it wouldn't see any routers (I can usually see mine and about 4 of my neighbors'). I turned off the wifi and then back on and the networks showed up again. TP tried to connect to my network, but then it gave me an "Association Failed" and then all the wifi networks disappeared and went back to searching for networks. I'm stumped here. Any advice on what to do?

I had a similar problem. Try changing the channel on your router to any number less than 5. If you don't know what I'm talking about just google "changing router channel" and follow some of the instructions on the first few pages. I changed mine to 1 and now it works perfectly. Hope this helps and solves your problem. (I was having problems on android CM7 btw not webos, I've dual booted mine)

My touchpad arrived with 35% battery life out of the box. No cosmetic defects. Loading CM7 on it right now and will update to CM9 when video problems are fixed.
Great buy!

I received the 3 16g HPTP's the Tuesday after order was placed, I cracked one open right away, sold the other two on ebay, for 249.99 and the other $260.00, not bad for 169.99. After a week of use I am thinking of listing the 3rd one. Only upgrade from the iPad 1 is the cam, I overclocked to 1.5,1.7, and 1.9 and installed preware. I found that my jailbroke iPad 1 as fast or faster on all tests ( angry bird app, facebook app ect...), And the preware apps are not that great and much MUCH harder to deal with cracked apps. You might look into selling on eBay, clear a $100 and pick up a iPad 1, Jailbreak and have 100,000 more choices, especially free apps. I was really not happy about the cost of the few apps they have. I am not a Apple fan boy, I use and prefer my ZUNE over my iPod, and use a Vista desktop.

I think you are comparing software and not hardware; it really depends on the OS. iOS is a great operating system and runs very quickly. It's minimalist in the world of mobile OS's and that is not a bad thing at all. Keep in mind that WebOS has a fraction of the people working on it that iOS and Android have. Don't think that this tablet is a slouch. I have the most recent Ice Cream Sandwich build on mine and it runs fairly well. The processor and memory are as good as any tablet you'll find today (save for the Transformer Prime), and for 220 dollars, it is the best tablet you can buy in terms of bang for your buck.

Also, you compare the TP to iOS essentially, not the iPad. Android is as much a viable alternative to WebOS as is suggesting someone sell their TP and buy an iPad.

My advice: install CM9 and see how you like it. I think you'll find it enjoyable and usable.

I have been having issues maintaining a strong wifi signal since day one. I can't be more than 5 feet away from my access point in order to stay online. Any further and the signal is very weak and eventually drops. This is at numerous locations. At home all of my other wireless devices are working flawlessly. It seems to be strictly the HP TP. I've tried changing the channel, static IP, 802.11 b/g only and ect. Any one else having wifi issues? Any suggestions? Thanks.

So, sent my TP via HP supplied box for repair. Sent on Wed, it arrived to service center in El Paso, TX on Friday. As of 5 minutes ago, no update in their system. So my TP is hopefully being operated on...prayers it goes well! I want to play with it...sigh...

UPDATE: about 2 hours later I recieved email: "Your recent order numberblahblah with HP has been processed and a device has been shipped to you"

That was FAST!!

UPDATE 2 (15 Feb): So the tablet arrived this morning, wife plugged it in (I am at work) and it connected to WiFi just fine. Can't wait to go home a play! 3 more hours!!!

Just noting, received mine on Monday. Booted right up, no blemishes, no issues. Snagged wifi without a hitch, updated, charged. All told, happy. Even though I got mine a full week after many wooters. Haven't bothered with Android yet, though I'll consider it after ICS gets a bit more useful. As for right now, Splashtop and tethering through my phone gets me anything I need anywhere I want.

Also, I happen to have a Pre3 as my phone. The "Tap-to-Share" feature is pretty cool. Not nearly as useful as advertised, but still pretty cool. Though, being able to text and answer calls from the tablet is damned awesome. Very nice not to have to pull the phone from my pocket while on the touchpad. WebOS is staying on as my main OS as long as I keep the phone, if only for that reason.

I came back here to find out about loading a different operating system on this new Touchpad and see there are now over 50 pages of comments. Wow!

Can someone point me to best page(s) that would instruct me on loading other operating systems?

I downloaded the updates to WebOS and now it seems the tablet won't turn off. It goes dark, but it appears that it's still on. Also, which virus protection is recommended for these devices?

Since loaded the new WebOS updates, Gmail is difficult to use. When I'm in my account I can't page down. Swiping the screen doesn't work.. Anyone else experience that?

Yeah, that's really strange. About how long are you allowing it to charge?

Also, HP has been pretty good about helping with warranty support, so maybe contact them if it's still not working. Please feel free to email us at service@woot.com if you have any questions.

Make sure that the US prong adapter is securely twisted onto the power supply itself. The unit that plugs into the wall is actually two parts, not counting the USB cord, and some have posted that theirs was loose and not charging.

Got my Touchpad about a week or so ago...

Half Battery, Fantastic condition... No scratches or dings. Only issue is the Volume Down Button is REALLY stiff... It works, but its not right.

I put Preware and CM9 on it. Works like a champ in both enviornments.

NO Wifi issues.

I don't spend any time in Android. I love WebOS! It does everything I need.

I had to send my 32GB TP in for more respiffying... the touchscreen was picking up input on the left side of the screen if I picked up the right side of device (and many times for no apparent reason). In general, I was never able to interact with the device for more than a few minutes after boot.

Hopefully I'll get it back from HP soon and be able to talk about what a great device it is. I sent the device in on Monday it is not yet updated on HP's support site as received.

Mine did the same. Fortunately I was able to use my wife's charger to test it. My charger was bad. Went to HP Warranty service, chatted via text, and received my replacement charger today (UPS overnight). New charger works fine. Didn't get hold of them until Wednesday night.

Same here. I don't dislike Android, but I like webOS more. I wish NetFlix or Hulu Plus was offered for it, but there are a few streaming video sites that will work, including abc.go.com, thewb.com, cwtv.com, crackle.com, syfy.com (sort of) and (if you have Cinemax or HBO and a cable company that supports Max Go and HBO Go) they'll also work. The sad thing is, there is no reason for Hulu not to work -- they had to specifically block TouchPad as it did work originally. I don't quite understand it, you're watching the same ads as you would be if you were watching it on your computer. Android and iPhone/iPad had to have special programs -- the TouchPad didn't.

Ok, as its been awhile now I came back to see how everyone was doing. FIRST!!! these devices HAVE problems with wifi and touchscreen issues and the list goes on and on. Nothing to do with Woot though its all HP on that stuff. Anyway I absolutely love my device, first day I put CM9 Alpha 0.6 on and have not been back to WebOS. The biggest and best step you can take is to really put CM9(Android) on the device, as then you will have dedicated developers working day and night to fix/patch as many of the current problems and add a whole lot more to the device. For instance, if you went to CM9 obviously the touchscreen doesnt respond like you know it should, Fixed - http://rootzwiki.com/topic/16547-touchpad-android-touchscreen-driver-development-updated-2012-02-16/
Grab latest v12 huge difference
Wifi the biggest problem of them all, now there still exists the problem where basically the device goes to sleep and upon wakeing you have to turn it off forget it log back on. Thats just one thing you can do and honestly there are ways around it happening but it gets technical involving increasing voltages etc.. but no more wifi up for 15min cant connect reboot 10x still cant connect spend next 4hrs changing router configs etc.. Now there are 2 methods of temp fixes for wifi with CM9 and very soon with the new drivers and the source from HP the camera will be working again etc..
Wifi fix I personally used this build at first but now I just build a nightly and throw the patch in. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1488561
Get the latest build or the first the dev isnt too experienced but it will be stable and fast for now. Everyone is going to have random problems but there are solutions just get on these forums and ask for help, but wifi obviously has been asked about 1000 times. Btw my setup I have a dual band linksys 3200 didnt even bother to change the channel from 11 cause my neighbors like to hog up the lower channels and it works perfectly fine.
After you apply these 2 fixes/workarounds your device will be stable and fast. Only noticeable to most features that obviously does not work right now in CM9 is Camera and video hardware acceleration hardware, the video part just use MX video player and go to settings choose software decoding and you can play movies all day but no streaming right now. Everything is moving a long very quickly and progressing in so many ways, once they get a stable version out it really transforms your touchpad into so much more. ICS seriously does so well on devices I cant for it on my sgh-i777. Anyway unfortunately the majority of things I have discussed are to average consumer too technical but I'm going to link the easiest video in the world to get you at least to CM9. BTW. in the video link I will link the gallery as the guides will be very good for anyone new to flashing roms etc... also has the changes you need to make in order to get some of the higher end games to work. Ok I almost forgot, please if you are not familiar with flashing and editing build.props etc.. just keep your lcd density at 160 or 120 and there are reverts for both, if your not new to this then personally I think 132 is awesome but your gonna want to change launchers and your market will need to be fixed. Ok here's the guides/links to follow and remember wifi/charging/rebooting fixable problems.
Im just going to post the most important default sequence for the best chance at a stable CM9 because your going to need to start there before you can apply the Wifi fix which the dev baked into his rom and another deals with inserting modules in linux so if your familiar do it if not dont!.
Disclaimer
You will see disclaimers everywhere as this is all alpha stuff and obviously there is no recourse if you render your device unusable. However remember you always have WebOS Doctor and adb to get you out of a brick in even the worst of circumstances these devices were made for open source such as the preware stuff. Have fun!

One of the patches the linux module based way

Go through those links and beyond on their respective forums, something cool im about to try is cornerstone for the touchpad, easiest way to explain is it adds true multi-tasking to CM9 as in having up to 3 apps open simultaneously on your home screen minimized or what not.

Thanks,
I'll check back and see how everyone is doing.

I will give an A+ rating to WOOT, I received a non-working unit, called them, they sent me a return label, but told me they had a few units left, I opted to get the second unit instead of a refund, which they shipped before they received mine back. How did you call them? They dont have a phone # and as far as I know, can only be contacted via email.

Thought I got a great unit, but a myriad of issues arose and HP was of no help at all. Contacted woot last week (via email) explained what was going on and asked what my options were and asked if they had a replacement they could send me. They replied back and said they had none and could only RMA and issue me a refund.

So, how did you call them ? (number please) and how did you manage to get a replacement since I could not get one and I contacted them about this early enough to where if they did have any more, i'd get one, but again, they just emailed me back and said they have no more, wont be getting any and my only option was getting a refund?

Can you please post whatever number you called as im planning to send it back and get a refund but if they do have a replacement, i'd rather go that route. Thanks

Isn't your unit a refurbished one with a 90 day warranty? I know when I chatted with HP about my bad power supply they confirmed that my unit was still in warranty. I would try calling HP, tell them that the unit is defective and that is under warranty.

Oh, believe me, I did spend a lot of time on the phone with HP, which was quite frustrating.

First, it took me 3 tries to get somebody that I could understand (not prejudiced in any matter way or form...I just cant understand the 'thick foreign accents')

Finally got somebody I could understand and we spent an enormous amount of time trouble shooting, trying different fixes and etc, all to no avail. The HP rep said that since my unit had so many issues they could not guarantee they could fix it and recommended I contact the seller and see if they had a replacement or if not, could issue a refund.

I contacted woot who said they had no replacements but would gladly issue a refund upon return of the defective unit.

So, a HUGE THUMBS UP FOR WOOT CUSTOMER SERVICE and I'll definitely be wooting again and will feel confident in doing so since they obviously stand behind the products they sell.

A+++++ rating for WOOT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!

Hmm, Knives are todays woot....May have to grab a few for my collection.....Dont have any of those brand...never heard of em but they look nice.....hmmm...

I like buying through Woot, because it saves me on taxes and shipping. However, this recent purchase of the HP Touchpad made me wonder if by saving a few dollars - is it worth the risk? My touchpad came "refurbished" as it was stated, but after using up the 7% or so battery charge it came with, the device died. The cable that it came with would not charge the device, and I use another cable to try to charge it as well. I came to a conclusion that the problem is not the cable itself, but the port on the device is defective. Who else can correct this? The factory. Now, I have all of my information on the device active, is there a way to wipe it clean before shipping it back to the factory for service or replacement? Sigh!!

I was wondering about that "wiping" issue briefly, when I thought my touchpad was a dud (it just needed a charge). It's a conundrum, maybe HP CS can tell you, if they tell you to send back the item for exchange or repair?

BTW, though most of the people who reported charging problems found it was the usb cable to blame, in a couple of cases it turned out to be the charger itself. Are you sure it's not that, rather than the port? (How did you troubleshoot it?)

A company has developed software that allows WebOS devices to run all android apps in cards at 90 to 95% of their normal speed, without having to dual boot, or load android. They were in talks with HP about releasing the software before HP pulled the plug. There is a petition going to have this software released. It can be found here: http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/android-apps-on-webos/

I got my HP Touchpad back from HP today after RMA work... they either did nothing or turned down the sensitivity of the touchpad a tiny bit, so the problem I was having with the screen self activating is less, but now I can't type reliably. Don't know if I can return it to Woot now, but this is my worst experience with merch purchased through Woot. Guess I'll try HP again tomorrow. I envy those who got a working unit out of this.

I got my touchpad, and it appears in good condition, but I'm not sure if it's the 16gb or 32gb version.

Under device information, the memory is listed as 16gb. But the product number is FB359UAR#ABA, which seems to be the 32gb model. Which one do I have?
