I have Comcast and they seem to block 80 so I switched to 88. And used 9001 for the media port as 9000 was also blocked, it may also be blocked on yours since it is used by some malware.. If you are using http://canyouseeme.org/ to test your ports it may be wrong. It kept saying every port I checked was blocked and after trying multiple combinations I finally just tried it and it worked.

bulajim wrote:I have Frontier as my ISP and a westell router/modem (combo box from Frontier). I can see the dvr and cameras from my network but can't seem to get remote access (via phone/ipad) working.

I'm port forwarding 80 and 9000 on my router/modem. It seems pretty straightforward but no luck. I've tried to change this ports #'s on the dvr and then change the forwarding on the router, but no luck.

Any suggestions?

Mine arrived 3 days after it was ordered but without the half of the package which contained the DVR. Still waiting for the DVR over a week later. Not much I can do with just the cameras. Kinda ruined the fun of purchasing it. More than kinda not so excited about Woot anymore because they don't have a phone number and handed the problem off to the Zmodo distributor instead of making things right. I guess I got Woot's version of a Box of Chocolates for $105. Burn me once and I'M GONE... THANK YOU WOOT!!!

ok -- so I used canyouseeme.org - 80 is blocked -- 9000 is good. so I changed 80 to 2000 in the dvr setup (web port) and port forwarded 2000 on westell router...still no luck when I enter Ipaddress:2000 in to kmeye or asee+ on my ipad? Help! Thanks for the help so far....(I read somewhere the only two ports the dvr can use is 80 and 9000 -- is that correct and if so, what do I need to do?)

I wish the Zmodo rep hadn't abandoned this thread as soon as the auction was over. Woot, are you guys listening? There are some questions here that Zmodo could answer.

Bulajim,
Check out Webhop over at dyndns.org it will do what you are asking as far as the port 80 redirect. Only problem is you will not be able to set up with the free ( after you try Pro ) service if you do need this. Or google " port 80 redirect" there are several other ddns services that offer similar service, some may be free. I already had service at dyndns so I just set up a webhop.

kelkins,
Not to defend Woot but they did state no
hard drive was included.

"but with the addition of a hard drive (sold separately,
Supports up to 2TB 3.5” SATA hard drive (hard drive not Included
HDD Interface: SATA, Support up to 2TB (not included)
1) DVR-H9124V DVR System (hard drive not included"

OK -- HAS ANYONE WHO BOUGHT THIS THING BEEN SUCCESSFUL SETTING IT UP SO YOU CAN SEE VIDEO ON A MOBILE DEVICE? I'm beginning to suspect this doesn't work with mobile viewing -- no problem with browser viewing from your internal network/within the fire wall.

if you've had success on a ipad or android device...speak up and tell me how...thanks.

ZMODO 9124 DVR - Problems with Mobile viewing --

Having spent 4-6 hours trying to get mobile phone-IPAD viewing to work on this thing -- I'm declaring it unworkable -- looks like the only ports you can forward is 80 and 9000 on it -- curious how you could ever get the mobile port (default 15961-even though the manual has screencaps of it being 15960???) forwarded thru a firewall -- the manual is written in complete broken english -- "it is just ok ...", a screen message says "sucess" (sic), etc.

The manuals (9124) that were downloadable from zmodo's website are no longer there. There's no apparent support for 9124 on their website. I've tried about 6 cam viewers on IPAD and android, including ASEE+ recommended by the Zmodo rep that was on here.

The dvr appears to work locally (I haven't installed the HDD yet) but buyer beware on mobile viewing.

I would love to be proven wrong on all this -- but I can't waste anymore time on this. I'm only out $100 and there's probably $100 worth of utility with the DVR but disappointed with it overall.

How to get Ip Cam Viewer free to work with Android. I tried that one and it does work.
Set up the DVR network settings static so you do not have to figure out what it has changed to if it does. Page 10 in the manual is actually not to bad. Just follow it and leave all the other settings alone from subnet mask down. Setup port forwarding on the ports you do want to use. For IP Cam Viewer free you only need the media port as you are going to setup as Zmodo DVR with Media Port. Make sure you have this port forwarded on your router to the local static 192.168 address you set up previously for the DVR.. I had to move up one number to 9001 as port 9000 was blocked for me.Now set up the mobile phone settings on the DVR. All that really matters for IP Cam Viewer is the name and password, the server port is not used the way this is being setup.

Press the + symbol on the bottom in IP Cam Viewer , select the second setting for IP camera DVR NVR.
use Make -= Zmodo , Model = Zmodo DVR with Media Port , host/IP is the WAN address of your router, just the address do not add anything else for example 172.11.31.172 ( fake address ) Media port is the 9000 number and channel 1 to 4. User is the mobile username you set up on the DVR and the password is the password from the same place. Test and it should show a picture, if so save the setting and you can then press the + again to setup camera 2 to 4. This worked fine when I tried it on mine, I then set it up on the wife's phone so she can see the 2 cameras in front of the house if she wants.

I really appreciate the suggestions and help and can't believe I can't get it to work if others can. A couple questions: I'm using "ip cam viewer basic" is that what you used? I have confirmed with a couple of sites that I have port 9000 and 80 open/forwarded from dvr 192.168.1.223 thru my router. I have a no-ip static name set up on my ip address 44.50.x.x. On page 10, I have dns1 AND dns2. Both are my router address 192.168.1.1. My subnet mask is 255.255.255.0 is that ok? Do you have upnp on or off? And I assume the ip of the dvr should be static? What version of android are you on - I'm froyo.uckb1 2.6.32.9?

Again, I appreciate all the help -- I know you don't have to do this! Thanks.

kwetz, a couple more questions to help me track it down -- should I/do you have access to the video if you enter your "external" IP (in my case 50.44.x.x) in the "netdvr" software on a windows workstation? I don't if I select internet and that external ip...however when I select the "internal ip"(192.168.1.223 for example) of the dvr I can see it. I wonder if something is still screwed up with portforwarding or my isp? I have frontier dsl that provides a all-in-one router/modem westell device.

Thought I give a lending hand to those having difficulties. First off, for android devices, I suggest downloading KMeye. For Mac's, there should be cd that came with your unit. On that cd is the software you would use to connect to your dvr to get your feed.

Another thing, once you setup a static IP on the unit, it will need to be rebooted. I have been running mines for several days and it works great on all platform (except Linux >=( ). Since I'm even more paranoid, I go through a vpn system instead of opening my ports for the world to see what I'm monitoring.

For those in the hacking community, anybody tried to root the darn thing? I would like to get access to either telnet or ssh to do even more of my bidding.

this may have been answered but I cannot remember what page is was talked about. Can I remotely(either from the LAN or WAN) download the movie files say for a day at a time?

I've noticed that through the NetDVR application it looks like I can convert each hour's file to an AVI file, but I'm looking to download a lot of these files at a time so I can look at the last week or so from a remote location(another city).

Ideas?

ALRIGHT!!! Remote viewer works. I don't know how many are watching these posts but since so many helped me, I thought I would post how I was finally able to get this to work on both an IPAD and an android device using a Westell DSL Modem/Router combo box....

Important: Make sure that if you are using wifi, that you are using it outside of your wifi (logon to another router somewhere).

port forward 80 and 9000 to a static address of the dvr box. One other thing that may or may not be important -- on my router I set up port forwarding to a static ip address before I rebooted the dvr (pulled power). In other words, dvr at 192.168.1.99, changed it to 192.168.1.223, did port forward magic on westell modem and specified the 223 ipaddress on both 9000 and 80, and finally recycle power on dvr. I have no idea why this sequence mattered EXCEPT I don't think I did anything differently for the days before with portforwarding and it never worked until I did this sequence -- so go figure -- may have just been a conincidence but I'm not going to change a thing now.

I still can't get ASEE or KMEYE to work but IP Cam Viewer (IPAD-small fee), and IP Cam basic and lite (Android-free) appear to work -- see kwetz post above for specifics. If anyone can explain how you need to set up asee and kmeye, please post it.

bulajim,
I'm glad you got it going. I was able to get several of the Asee versions to work on the local 192 subnet but never got any to work on either the routers or the ddns settings. The market version of Naway seemed to work but I do not care for how it is layed out. I have not tried vMEye, it is supposed to be designed for the 9000 series DVRs.

anybody got a line on a video converter that will allow me to pull the video files into some other editing program?

I'd like to make some time lapse videos out of this setup, but every free program I've tried can't import these files,,,,,I'm about to go bananas over here.

Ok, so i saw that someone else used the vMEye instead of the MEye for iOS devices and I was able to get it to work. There are like 20 different apps for the MEye type on the app store.

"But you do need to buy a $9.99 app for the iPhone. I have tried all of the suggested apps: Asee, Asee+, MEye, APlayer, APlayer+ and they all say 'unsuported device' and to upgrade to the Pro version which is $9.99. I am afraid to pay that not knowing that it will actually work."

I would like to get this device working with ZoneMinder. I tried running the zonepipe, however I keep getting the following error:

"Ch 2: Receive 1 failed.
Login failed, bailing.
Did you select the right model?"

I tried -m 1 through -m 6. I'm able to use IPCamViewer (Light) to view the live feed without any issues.

Any suggestions on getting this DVR to work with ZoneMinder?

If someone wants to help me get this model working, I'm sure others would appreciate it.

I had various issues trying to view the cameras using the iphone 3g, but doing test and error trying all the apps that I saw available or recommended by many users finally got KMEYE4 to work ok. The only downside is that you can only view 3 cams as a free user. Worked ok for me, the workaround if you need to see more is to close an open a new one.
