Very close. Had you been more general instead of a brand, you might have been dead on! Good job either way!

It's sad that this media player has a higher version of android than my phone. Curse you Android fragmentation!

Can you play app games like angry birds on there with no problem??? Also, does it have an external speaker and a sd card slot???

Does anyone know-Can this record HD video???? Or does it just have video playback?

If not-does anyone know of a MP3 player that can also record HD video?

This deal is cold comparing to the droid cell phone deal I got for $105. It can do everything this does and more. Except it only include 4gig microSD.

Root ONLY: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1396085

Root Roms: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=20717532#post20717532

Developer has abandoned the project as he sold his MP3 player. Drivers are x86 only (not 64 bit) and may require finding a 32 bit OS to install (Windows 7.) Root is not required for the rooted roms.

All this said, you've got basic android out of the box with enhancements that allow .avi watching, virtually every audio format, etc. The -bloat version of the rom is probably what I'd recommend, and then just install DropBox (beta in forums) and transfer any backed up apps you want to the device.

...and, your deal is WAY colder since you GET to pay the $100.00/month or MORE cell phone bill (for a WHOLE TWO years) whereas this 'cold' deal pays nada.

oh, i got a skype account, so my phone bill is 2.95/mo, i forgot.

“rileyper” et al,

Since you (and others) own one, could you post whether the device can also play the older MPEG2 video format in an AVI container?

Thank you all very much in advance.

Just one question.
Why?
Doesn't every thing have an mp3 player now?
I think my cat has one built in.

Oh, hey, a DAP that plays Ogg Vorbis out of the box.

For a dedicated music player, though, I think I'll still stick with my good ol' Rockboxed Sansa Fuze with fully tactile controls.

(and for the other things, I'll stick with my Nokia n900 or upgrade to a 7" tablet)

My colored box^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H qube has turned dark red^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H brown. I don't really need to show off a list of everything I've wooted anymore, do I?

This is very tempting, does anyone know if the C25K apps work for this? If they this becomes a must buy.

I'm tempted to get a couple just to use as remotes for my receiver and Squeezeboxes, since both have Android apps.

Feels like an Android version of an early-gen iPod Touch, right down to the absence of GPS and a micro-SD slot. With both those, I'd woot it, but I guess it's too much to ask for only $90.

Better than the Sansa. Since it's Android, it can do Android apps. It's basically the Android version of the iPod Touch. I'm just not sure how useful Android can be with only 8mb ...

If all you use it for is media (well, music) you ought to be ok. But ... even for media, you don't have a slot for a microsd so the 8mb is not just your app room, it's your media room as well.

So ... it's a weird combination of advanced and limited.

Try loading the VIBER App.. similar to Skype but might allow free calls and texting to other VIBER users. Worth a try.

I find it very hard to find a media player with 32gb or more at not a crazy price. I know it sounds silly but i miss my old zune, when they updated the firmware it bricked it and i have been annoyed ever since. Why not put a micro sd card slot onto this thing. I would but it right now.. maybe 2.

It's a prepaid cell phone so pay as I use and like you said skype and other stuff helps. But I'm waiting for an app that can call phones too.

Oh, that $105 also include $30 refill. ;) Sadly the GPS need data plan to work on the road.

Oh, they already sent me the unlock code too. But I'm a happy camper.

Samsung has a non-phone version of its Galaxy line, which is closer (in terms of price and feature set) to the iPod Touch.

Android and proxies aren't inherently compatible. You can install Opera and use the many guides online to connect Opera to a proxy, but if you want the device itself to send all traffic through the proxy, you'll need to root the phone and use one of the proxy apps out there.
