This will sound like heresy to musicians, but I think what separates iconic guitarists from merely great guitarists has as much to do with look as with sound. You gotta give the youngsters a stance to emulate, a style to imitate, and most of all, a distinctive guitar to worship. Go ahead: try to identify the eight guitarists in this week's Trivial Eye by their guitars and the way they hold them. I bet you'll know more than you think, without hearing a note...

Also amusing is that Toon and I were talking just a few weeks ago about how he's seen Guitar #3 in person.

Also #2 and #8 - or whatever variations those guys were touring with when I saw them.
