I've had my Dyson since Jan '06 (it's super cute pink!) and I wish it'd break so I could buy a Ball Dyson! It works so well though, it's definitely worth the investment to buy one. You only have to clean the roller bar underneath and the filter you rinse out once every 6 months. You can clean the canister too if you suck up something gross.

I bought a Dyson from Woot a couple years ago. I did like how it cleaned. It did require attention often though. But it just died from a bad clutch mechanism. According to Dyson, only a vac repair shop should fix this problem. It appears this would have cost well over $100 to get fixed. So, instead I went to a local Wal-Mart and replaced the Dyson with a good $80 vacuum. This one works just as well as the Dyson. I repeat, JUST AS GOOD AS THE DYSON. And, if it lasts 2 years also I believe I've saved a ton of money in the long run. Dyson is good, but not that good. Dyson is just way way too over priced.

I got one through another website, and it was same model and refurbished by Dyson.

It works great and the price is unbeatable! It isn't the biggest vacuum in the world, but does the job for sure!! Very light weight and easy to use for sure.

If you want an 'upscale' vaccuum, get a Miele. Seriously. I got mine 4 years ago when my husband got his Mercedes. I could not be happier.

Even worse; it's taxi cab yellow.
I'm tempted to get one, but I'm thinking if I use the 30% off coupon at Kohls it'll be just under $400 (not even factoring in FatWallet/Ebates rebates and Kohls cash) with a 5 year warranty, as opposed to $255 with a 6 month warranty. Some refurbs I've had great luck with, others not so much. Hard to decide with a high ticket item...

we've had a dyson for like 10 years now. we've never had a problem with it over that time. it cleans very well today as it did when we first bought it. we take it with us in our rv and our vacation home in florida. never will buy anything else to vacuum but a dyson.

From my experience, I will never buy anything but a Dyson again.

Though the refurb makes me nervous....

bought our daughter in law a refurb dyson from woot a few years back. she too went through cheaper vacs like potato chips. the dyson is still working fine with no issues for her. she loves her dyson.

Worst vacuum I've ever owned. I bought a Dyson ball several years ago and it has never had good suction. My 20 yr. old Kenmore canister vacuum had twice the suction power this thing does. Very disappointed. Not impressed.

When I said earlier that Dyson was the Bose of vacuum cleaners, it was not a compliment. Dyson is successful because of marketing. Their products are not superior, just more Rube Goldberg-ish.

It does take a lot of imagination and belief in your product's moneymaking ability for yourself to put your name on a product. Hardly anyone does that these days.

If Jim Dyson didn't believe in he product he would have called it a "Winkleman Vacuum"

Bought one of these as a Christmas gift for my wife, she loves it! We have a yellow lab that sheds a ton, plus three small children that make plenty of messes; this vacuum cleaner has what it takes to keep our home clean and comfortable.

Great vacuum, and I have a very very hairy dog, with constant "tumble weeds" along my floor boards. Wish I would have gotten it on Woot - much better price than I paid and I could have gotten a PINK one!

Having owned two Dysons (DC07 and DC25), here's my input.

What you'll love:
-Powerful suction
-Lightweight and maneuverable
-Low-profile head fits under cabinets/furniture
-Holds a lot of debris
-All attachments stored on-board
-Easily switches between carpet, bare floors, and the hose/wand.

What you'll be disappointed in:
-Cord is just a bit too short (DC07 had 30' cord)
-Plastic = static
-Not good for drywall dust
-Does not have a good crevice tool
-Plastic parts are sturdy, but still plastic

Overall: pretty flippin' awesome

The best thing about it is how light it is. I can run up and down my steps with it no problem. and that's even before i start vacuuming.

I dared to commit what some consider the ultimate faux pas on the occasion of my wife's birthday several years ago. I bought her a vacuum cleaner. I was so "sold" on the merits of the Dyson "supervac" line that I actually gave her the machine as her primary birthday gift. Needless to say, she was non-plussed. She acted as if I'd ignored her special day. A few months later, in desperation, she finally broke down and used the Dyson to vacuum our carpet and tile floor. She melted. "I'm so ashamed!" she gushed. Ever since that day, I've been acknowledged at Patriot Place, our humble abode on Lake Travis, as the clairvoyant (or however you spell that) when it comes to vacuums. I rewarded her praises with a Dyson ball (or is it Ball?) at Christmas when the first Dyson had about five years on its odometer. Now we gleefully vacuum the place spotless from two unique points - simultaneously!!!

Never has one company so blantantly over-hyped a table radio.

I sold the Bose line back in the early days when the Bose 901 speakers were only in high-end audiophile shops. Even then they were little more (in my opinion) than a gimmick.

A friend gushed about their "Wave" radio and I was all set for a revelation. I acted amazed and never had the heart to tell them it was mediocre for a table radio and over priced by a factor of 10.

The Dyson pitch rings much the same to me, though I will not judge until I've owned one...which ain't gonna be today.

I wish Panasonic still made vacuums. We have had one for 15 years with cats, dogs, and lots of carpet. It was over $200 at the time but very light, very quiet, and does a super job.
Time for a new one, but I can't see spending this much on a refurb. Plus, aren't they the ugliest thing?

No kidding. We bought one off of here and the beater brush dies in 8 months. Dyson's response after walking through the reset procedure: It's out of warranty and wanted an additional $145 for a replacement part. This is the first vacuum I've ever had break down and the repair costs as much as a less expensive brand that actually works. My grandmother had an Electrolux for something like 40 years and willed it to a family member b/c everyone wanted it. It still works. I'm done with Dyson.

Dyson is NOT worth the money, according to Consumer Reports. This model is far down in the ratings and Not Recommended. A brand new Hoover WindTunnel T-Series Rewind Bagless is top-rated among bagless vacuums and sells for about $130. Dyson is all marketing, no substance.

This does not work well on bare floors at all. It does work pretty well on carpets but it is very loud and needs to be emptied frequently in order to get good suction. I also have a problem with my long hair getting stuck in the roller....but I have not met a vacuum yet that can tackle long hair.

Please folks, Dyson is all about hype. Pretty design, pretty colors and seeing your filth in the canister does not mean it does a better job. Consumer Reports rates them almost lowest. They are relatively expensive. I have one. It is heavier and more tiring to use then any canister vac with a powerhead. It does not pick up well within an inch or two of the edge. Overall the suction again is much less than most canisters. The attachments are awkward to use. Much fiddling involved. To clean corners, stairs, lampshades, fans or almost anything that is not open carpet or floor is a pain in the you know where. Spend the same money on a new high rated Kenmore canister. I got at least twenty years out of my last one and the new ones are better. After 6 months that's what I'm replacing the Dyson with.

Has anyone had problems with it making a grinding noise? I returned a Dyson DC33 because it made a wretched sound randomly. I had an animal years ago and loved it but have since gotten new (higher pile) carpet and wonder if this Dyson will make the noise as well.

I have a Dyson Ball with the attachment for animal hair. It is amazing! I have had it for about 3 years and I still think it is amazing. The animal attachment is great for furniture. My only complaint is the ball doesnt fit under the bed and the handle makes it hard to use to get behind things. I would still buy this product again.

I have one (in purple) and I love it. I wish I could justify buying a second one. My only real complaint is that the bin is small so you empty it a lot. It sucks up everything, and when it doesn't, you empty the bin and it starts sucking up stuff again. I have dust mite allergies and this thing has allowed me to live in a carpeted condo. The attachments snap in to the vacuum so you don't lose them. The ball DEFINITELY makes a difference. You can make easy right angles and get into places I couldn't with my previous vacuums. It also does a pretty decent job of the laminate in the kitchen when I turn off the beater brush. If you were considering the Dyson ball vac, get it.

But seriously, folks: 220 watts (REAL watts, that is) would be a ridiculously underpowered motor for a vacuum cleaner. That'd be something like 1/20 hp.

We've had our DC25 Blueprint for a couple of years now. A plastic piece on the hose broke and the customer service had us a new hose within three days. It was awesome customer service.

We have a hoover bagless and the Dyson runs circles around it. The Hoover has been relegated to kitty litter clean up.

We also have one of the Dyson bladeless fans. We enjoy it quite a bit.
