Part of the reason for retiring in Tennessee was for the easy access to "corn squezzins" as they call it here. A bit harsh when fresh but so smooth after sitting in charred wine barrels for a couple of years. Closest I have been able to get to great great grandpas recipe he brought with him escaping the english from the highlands back in the 1870's. Yes it still qualifies as whiskey per the description above. But for me there's a difference from whiskey to highland ambrosia.

Good tequila has a savory, rich taste that's enhanced by citrus and salt, thus the "lick salt, drink a sip, bite lemon" ritual.

The mistake most people make is drinking it to excess just to get drunk, then they can't stand even the smell after they get sick on it once. It's a shame, really. It's a good-tasting liquor that's been given a bad name by those who didn't drink it right the first time.

Jameson whiskey and I always drink it on the "rocks", now it will be true.

I feel that this poll is biased. There should be an option to acknowledge whiskey as our choice instead of tossing us out into the cold.

I'm a bit confused as to why wine (which is not a liquor) is on the list but brandy (which is, and is one of the six main spirits - whiskey, brandy, rum, tequilla, vodka, gin) is not.

I voted gin because I love a good martini, and deplore the growth of the vodka market at the expense of the gin market, but if I'm looking for something that can match the best whiskeys for depth of taste and complexity, a good brandy is the first place I'm turning.
