Nice... I can finally return the boyfriend's 802.11 G adapter.

This is actually a really good deal for a plug-n-play wireless adapter. Most go for at least $30. D-Link is an excellent brand, too. Anyone with a Bluray player without Wifi, get one of these.

Good adapter. I own one. Everyone else should buy 3.

This plugs into a USB ports and provides a wireless internet connection. Useful for network enabled bluray players, desktop computers, etc.

Will it work with a Samsung BD-D5300 Blu-ray Player even though they say you have to buy theirs?

Helps you steel your neighbor's WiFi signal*

It makes your otherwise non-WiFi computer have WiFi capabilities. Wireless N, no less. Say, for instance, you want to put your old desktop in the basement for your granny to use. No need to run network cable; just use this to connect to your existing WiFi network!

So it replaces a wired connection to, say, my Blu-Ray player, which is not wifi?

Hmm, the amazon reviews for this are super sketchy. Not sure why that should be the case though.

That should work. They just release an accessory that brands with their name that they can make extra money on. Any adapter should work.

Days later and exhausted on the floor from error messages, tech guys with foreign accents saying that rebooting will fix everything after a 2 hour wait on a telephone cue before your call gets cut off mysteriously. So I usually take a week off, put on a sweat band and have sedatives in reach. I did due diligence and found this product to have relatively good reviews so picked it up. (Sorry Amazon, this one time Best Buy actually had a better price!) My home network connects a Tivo, SlingBox, Vista Laptop, voip telephone, all-in-one printer via an Apple Airport Extreme hub. This D-Link was to try to cut the wires on my XP desktop to distance the spaghetti of wires from external hard drives etc. and a tethered printer. OK, those details aside, I installed the drivers via the supplied CD, chose the "manual" installation choice, typed in the name of my network and security password....."great Scott, Marty"....it was on line in an instant! OK, this should be the norm in installing things. But we all know when it does happen, shock and awe wash over us like the "08" Beijing Olympics opening ceremony. My chin is back off the floor and life is returning to normal. What to do with all the time I cleared to do this? Maybe go to the beach. Oh wait, hurricane Ike will be here tomorrow. Well, I'll savor the moment and hope my house doesn't blow away and take my network with it. Highly recommended.

For $10, it's worth a shot.

Thanks, fellow Wooters!

Interesting - per the description it seems to only support 802.11 a/g/n, but not the standard 802.11b.

Thanks, that's what I guessed. I'll take the $15.93 chance.

Wireless over USB adapters are plagued by fragile and buggy drivers and lack of support from the vendor. Even wired over USB doesn't get a lot of love. This will probably work mostly, but you'll have to fiddle with it regularly to keep it working. I generally don't think these are worth the hassle.

Add on top of that the fact that this is a D-Link and I just cannot recommend.

I saw someone say something about printers, can this be used to make a printer wireless? I.e. can I put it in the USB and then connect to my network and send things to my printer from a laptop wirelessly?

I bought two. One for my bluray player and a 2nd just in case I want to hook anything else up sometime in the future(yes, I'm planning ahead for unknown wireless means).

Right. I work in testing wireless and if it's A/G/N it's won't have B... no one uses that anymore anyway, it's ancient and slow anyway...

And if anyone is wondering, this should actually work pretty well, D-link is a pretty solid brand. I got a cheap Cisco one for $10 and it works fine, i can' imagine this D-link being too terrible.

I'm an IT professional and I've always preferred DLink to even NetGear. I've used their products for years and never had an issue.

Okay, so let's say I have an Airport Extreme, a wireless enabled laptop, one TV with a wireless enabled Blu-Ray, and another wireless-enabled TV. No desktop, and when we replace the desktop, it will be right next to the airport, so I don't need to distance those from each other. Will this do anything for me?

I am so not well-versed in wireless do-hickey technology....

Or, you know, you could just check out the blog and decide for yourself if its been a good woot-off ... sure, it may not show the prices on there, but you can assume the prices are good(ish) ... the real questions are:
1) Do you like the products they've been pawning off
2) Did you already miss the Barrel Of Chopsticks

Not necesarily. You can't just assume that the chipset in this adapter is compatible with any BD player or tv set.
