It should be noted that the Neato XV-12 Robotic Vacuum System will not work on walls and doors.

If you have pets that sometimes have "accidents" in your home. DO NOT get this. You will have a small accident smeared all over the place.

Have pets seems like neato is better. Have rugs roomba is better. Both are ok for upkeep but not for a deep clean.

idbug wrote:I ordered one from Woot last week, after much agonizing and researching and reading reviews. According to all of that, the Neato seems to be superior to the Roomba. I can't wait to get mine. Hurry up and ship it, Woot!

PS I'm very glad they aren't suddenly cheaper on this Woot-Off. That would have cured me of my Woot habit, I think.

I am in the exact same place, ditto!

All I can say about the Neato XV-12 All Floor Robotic Vacuum System is that it really "sucks"....Cleanest carpets and floors on the block...

I bought this during the last woot off ( also the " worst woot off ever"...). It does an awesome job on my tile floor and the big rug in the middle of the living room. It has gotten stuck a few times but that's what the magnetic barriers are for. If you're short on time, have pets or are looking to replace a roomba then this is for you! My daughter even gave it a nickname -"Rowbee" and got a lot of excitement out of a real robot in the house.

I don't think they rate vacuums on how pretty they are, but they did have TONS of nicely colored dysons earlier that took forever to sell out.

Are these things really worth the investment? We have two small dogs and a cat. They shed hair and also track dust and leaves in from when they go outside. Would this be a good thing to get to keep the tile floors and area / throw rugs looking ok between major cleaning? Woots return policy is iffy, so would it be better to pay full price some where to be able to return it if we are not satisfied?

Bought this on woot on Feb 22 2012 and love it more than I loved my roomba that died last year. Neato is easier to maintain than roomba - easier to clear dust bin, less hair tangles, smarter navigation. I've been using it on a carpeted floor (800 sq ft) 3 days/week and it's reduced the amount of cat fur significantly. Cat is slowly warming up to it.

We've been happy with ours so far. We also like that it looks like an NES (the spouse insists SNES).

It's pretty good and efficient (takes about 45 mins to clean 800 sf apartment). It sometimes gets caught on cords. We have one fan with a conical base that really confuses it, but otherwise is very capable. Not awesome on thick carpet, but does a decent job, very good on wood floors. The sound is much, much quieter than a normal vacuum. I don't know how it compares to roomba.

Too Much Stuff

We purchased ours from woot a couple months ago, and it's made a major difference.

We use it to help keep up with our 10 month old who is really good at getting her food everywhere and also at finding and trying to eat anything we don't find. Our new pet Neato gives us the piece of mind to know that the floor is getting it's daily vacuuming despite our busy schedule. I'm really amazed at how much it picks up.

Once a week it is important to just go through with the hose attachment of a regular vacuum to get along the walls and in crevices that Neato can't get to, just like a regular vacuum needs the same hose attachments.

Edit: I'll add that it actually helps with our daughters nap time as the sound is loud enough without being to loud to be a great source for consistent white noise. Our real vacuum couldn't work because it would wake her from her nap since it was louder, AND it freaked her out while she was awake so we simply couldn't vacuum...

Nah. Woot's the same it's always been. Small electronics, vacuum cleaners, the occasional really weird thing, and posts about how Woot used to be cool. I think if you go back to the very first historical Woot-off, you'd probably find some guy posting how this is the "worst. wootoff. ever."

Great Vacuum. We use it a couple of times a week to do our entire downstairs. One of the cool features is that when its battery gets low, it goes back to its base, recharges, then navigates to where it was and finishes the job.

We own a rental property that we have to clean after guests. We take the Neato with us and let it do the floors while we work on bathrooms, kitchen, etc. A real time saver.
