This mention took entirely too long. Would've made my decision much more difficult. And after reading the comments, I too am surprised at the glaring absences of SG (franchise) and Firefly. Firefly wouldn've further complicated my voting. Possibly to the point that I wouldn't have.

Firefly! Duh. Who leaves out Firefly in a survey like this? Shameful. I'm sure who ever it was will go to the "Special" Hell.

Oh! I completely forgotten about that series. No candle to Firefly, but I have fond memories of watching that show now that you bring it up.

I think of Futurama more as a comedy, but it is my favorite show of all time.

I love TNG lots, but for a show I can watch over and over again, Farscape wins it. BSG is right behind it, though. I don't worry too much about how the "mystery" plot is ham-fisted; I just like the interpersonal drama.

I have seen Firefly. It is okay. I do not understand the love, but that's just one of many things i don't "get".

Firefly! How do you not list firefly? This site is going downhill when it doesn't put Firefly even in the options for best Sci-Fi show. Now I have to go give them more of my money.

Twilight Zone is the Beatles of Sci-Fi TV shows. Everything that follows owes it a massive debt.
Oh, and then Firefly, duh.

I can't believe there is no love for X-Files here. Is it just that all of you are too young to have seen the one of most influential shows ever?

Unanswerable poll.

The Outer Limits
Space 1999
The Invaders
Twilight Zone
(early) X-Files
Star Trek (tos)
The Avengers
Fringe
Dollhouse
Firefly
Heroes
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
Quark

To choose a single series from these contenders would be unfair to the rest. I shall remain unaffiliated.

Firefly!

I would never have even thought to look at something by Joss Whedon because those other shows by him were just not my thing.

Let me just say that if it wasn't for my curiosity to see how Ron Glass performed in a Sci-Fi drama I would have missed the best science fiction show ever.

What killed Firefly people? The fact that it was on opposite Farscape and by the time there was a week that Firefly was on and Farcape was not it was too late for Firefly.

Where is the love for BSG?

The second Battlestar Galactica has to be my number two.

What's with the piddly number of votes for Farscape? Awesome awesome show.

Actually watching through Firefly for the first time; as someone above said, it was on about the same timeslot as Farscape. I never saw any ads for the show, and only recently (as in the movie) knew of its existence.

I had said Eureka, but I guess for shows that have longevity and that I can watch again and again, I would have to agree with the Twilight Zone people.

Ok you all are wrong.... Does anyone remember a show called "Dark Skies". I came out around 3rd season of X-Files. Dark Skies was the best alien based sci-fi show, they cancelled it because ratings (the ratings were smashing my X-Files). I think they actually got close to the truth so they terminated the show. There is still some episode on the net check it out...

Your list is SEVERELY LACKING guys...
1. Firefly
2. BSG 2004
3. Enterprise (Be specific - best written)
4. Star Trek TOS (Ground breaking)
5. Dr Who (10th Dr)

Could go on for ever, as I am a true geek.
