I absolutely love BuckyBalls! I would recommend if you are just getting into them to get yourself a copy of the Big Book of Bucky: Volume 1. It has the "basics" to start your new obsession in the world of Bucky.

A super way to change a few idle moments into great fun! Also makes a wonderful gift for the guy or gal who have everything.

Mythbusters experimented with these and animal intestines to test the efficacy of the rumored dangers.

They found these to be quite dangerous once they entered the intestines and for the most part were pretty surprised at how easily these magnets bound and even ripped through the intestinal walls on their way to each other.

I forgot to mention. In case you had the same idea that I did (magnetic dartboard), you can buy some Replacement Balls in all colors in case you happen to lose some.

Beware! If you happen to leave the box of these on your table when people are over eating smoked salmon, your buckyballs will undoubtedly become highly stinky quite quickly!

Of course, if the people play with the balls, then put them back in the box without letting you know, you are in for quite a surprise when you open it.

If you, like I, have this problem (thanks so much, mom), then be aware that using dish detergent and lukewarm water will get those balls smelling good as new.

Can these shatter if they hit each other with any force? My super strength magnets from old disk drives first crack, then turn to powder after smacking into each other.

Hey, do we know if the plating or whatever on these is conductive?

I have been waiting for Woot to offer Zen Magnets...is it worth getting these Buckyballs or waiting for Zen Magnets?

Expect to buy extras if you bring them to work - they will get stolen from your desk and returned with missing balls...often.

In all honesty, if you are one not to share (like I am) don't even bring them to work. They're almost too popular.

I got a two silver sets in a previous woot and I actually find them more useful than fun to stick things up, if you have an office with metal frames. It's also a great creative outlet, especially if you use a magnetic or iron surface like a refrigerator door to help support more complex structures.

Can anyone comment on whether Buckyballs has improved the toughness of the coatings? Or are these orange ones eventually going to turn into silver ones, as I've heard about the other colored Buckyballs?

Magnets are fun, but these are definitely FOR ADULTS ONLY! Do not buy for, or let little kids play with these. My neighbor's 8y/o just had to have 2 of these surgically removed after accidentally swallowing two while playing with her brother. The two separated, and became lodged in 2 segments of her small intestine, causing a perforation and bleeding. Serious concern. Google the topic for numerous cases, including a 3y/o that swallowed 27.

I have too many of these. They are great fun for people that won't eat them.

I got buckyballs on here a year ago and they came in a cube container. It just makes more sense to sell buckyballs in a buckyball-like shape. I guess this must have been a rather recent change.

I remember buying two silver sets way back when these first came out for $35 for EACH set. And they didn't have a case nor optional color choices. This is a great deal! And yes, these are probably more useful than fun. But can be fun as well. :P

Yeah, same here. That's why I'm curious if this is exclusive to woot. I looked at the buckyballs page and didn't see any of these.

I have never seen Zen Magnets offered by Woot yet.

Been very happy with my set of buckyballs, though you may run into the video showing the higher quality of Zen Magnets. Also, the colored plating will wear off, just plan on it. It never bothered me but if you want them to stay brightly colored, don't play with them.

I'm curious how sturdy these round boxes are? The corner of my square case chipped off rather soon after purchase.

I've got two sets of these and they are the ultimate desktop/coffee table toy...Guaranteed to entertain anyone who happens to see them.

In for two more...after all, the more you have, the more amazing things you can make with them.

Bored after five minutes with them. They arent very strong, either in attraction to iron nor each other...too small to really handle very well. I keep finding them all over the place.

I hate these, wish I'd never wasted the money.

You can buy these as magnetic bearings for about 5% of the price and in any size you want.

Well... perhaps you'd be a happier person if you played with your balls a little more often?

Very entertaining, I've picked up half a dozen or so sets in the past. The only problem is they aren't all that durable.

After a few weeks of goofing around and playing with them at my desk, I noticed lots of shiny metal flakes and some dark black magnet chunks floating around my office.

Still loads of fun, but you need to be gentle with them.

Buckyballs can kill. Its bogus to say "Adults only" since kids will find them and some will pop them in their mouth. So sick of WOOT selling this crap.

I was thinking about getting a set, but I'm rather appalled by Buckyballs's anti-competitive business tactics(legal threats and DMCA takedown request for a quality comparison video), so I'll pass.
