I've been enjoying the heck out of mine with ICS loaded on it. If your the hacky type, it's a fun toy.

I'd be all over this if I didn't have one already. Put Ice Cream Sandwich and you can dual-boot it with WebOs.

As much as I wanted to love the touchpad, it was a total letdown. Froze up constantly, limited apps.. Luckily I could return it to hp, as we bought ours on the hp launch of it

I'd just be wary about the crack lines appearing on the sides, along with the speakers. They seem to be a factory defect as both our touchpads at home have these issues.

added: yes, I also superglued mine and was fine

I'm running Android 4 (ICS) on mine and it works great! It's a little hefty compared to current tablets, but it runs ICS very smoothly. I love it.

Wow, getting cheaper! Got mine for $149, but with tax, shipping, and CA e-waste fee, it came to $176, so this is pretty close to getting it at the original firesale price.

I'm browsing woot on my Touchpad right now!

I love webOS and look forward to open webOS, but also enjoy getting in on the Android goodness with CM9. You can't beat the features and quality for less than a (new) Kindle Fire!

Not bad actually. Most sites sell for more, and 200 was exactly what I paid to get mine only mine was new.

My TouchPad developed these cracks around both speakers. A little dab of superglue took care of it.

THIS IS A STEAL! I have 3 already and if I wasn't straped for cash I'd being order 2 of these.

Who needs a Police monitored IPAD when you can have a WEBOS multiple apps running at once Super Duper Device like the HP Touchpad. Soon to be replaced by just another run-of-the-mill SLATE running Windows 8 (Like there aren't enough Windows Tablets out there already)...

Help keep a dream alive, invest in a Touchpad.

Absolutely love my 32GB I got during the fire sale. Only thing that's ever left me wanting is the lack of a microSD slot.

Yeah, on mine, too. As soon as I noticed, though, I glued it and put a cheap TPU case on it, solving the problem.

This works great on my Pre 3 by the way Messages syncing and the Touch-to-Share feature rocks.

I still don't really understand the cracking "problem." I've never seen it on either of my TouchPads nor those of other family/friends. Of course one of mine has a clear skin case on it at all times and the other has been in a folio case all its life; both with screen protectors and used mostly by careful adults, but I think if I did see a crack I wouldn't be to heartbroken. It's not like I paid $600 for the things. I'd probably just glue and move on. Not worth the trouble of sending it in, etc.

I have one and I'm happy with it. For the most part. I was one of the unlucky few who had problems with the way that their charging port was designed. Mine was made too small for a charger. I've tried three with no success. The company tells me that there were some sent out that were made incorrectly and the only thing they could do was send me a gift card. I have a touchstone charger (and a spare), so I have that form of charging it. It is highly possible that some of these touchpads will have that same issue. HP told me there would be no recalls because they discontinued the product and there weren't enough poorly made ones to warrant a recall.

With that being said; I paid $250.00 for mine. This is an ok deal.

Dual-booting mine with ClassicNerd and loving it! Best of both worlds (excellent multitasking and incredibly easy to use UI in WebOS, and infinite numbers of apps in Android).
You can find older versions of CN on classicnerd.net, but if you dig through the last 10 pages on the Classicnerd ICS thread on XDA Developers, you'll find the current one (based on ICS 4.0.4) with many fixes over what's on the website (not sure why they haven't uploaded it yet).

As to all the haters' comments that I'm sure are being posted as I type and the many that will follow:
Yeah, it's not as cheap as the fire sale - that's because it was a fire sale (by definition it will never, ever happen again).
Yeah, it's a refub, that's because they don't make them anymore and haven't since last year.
Yeah, I'm sure you've found lots of tablet android devices cheaper - and not one comes close to the specs of this device.

Let the flame-fest begin!

Got my 16GB during the fire sale. WebOS was pretty cool, but just didn't have the ecosystem needed.

CM7 was better because of Android's app environment, but the interface was totally bolted on, and it showed badly.

Now with CM9, this thing has finally come into its own. Chrome for Android is a killer app, letting you sync you browser tabs from desktop to tablet. ICS is a serious tablet OS.

I am sincerely wondering about the statistics behind these occasional HP TouchPad sales. HP has stopped manufacturing this product. That means no new unit is available, and for a unit to be sold as refurbished, it has to be returned by an existing owner to HP or authorized refurbisher for examination and resale. Where might the stock keep coming from? Are there that many returns?

Personally, I'm a big fan of the Touchpad. Bought 3 16GB in last year's firesale (1 for me, 2 were Christmas gifts for the our teens), and couldn't be happier.

Yes, webOS is severely lacking in apps. But for basic use, surfing the web, email, Skype and the like, webOS is an excellent OS. Android will fill in all gaps webOS doesn't.

I'm dual booting webOS (with preware and patches) and Android CM9 (which took about 15 minutes per tablet to install) on all 3 , gives me the best of both worlds. webOS for basic tablet use, and Android for the massive amount of apps.

There's not a more versatile or hackable tablet around.

Do not listen to chardonay; the HP Touchpad does not freeze up. The only real problem I have with the hardware is that I often must touch the tablet multiple times to get it to do something, but it does get it eventually.

As for putting Ice Cream Sandwich (Android) on it, ignore that too unless you are technical and are happy with alpha versions. Alpha versions have more bugs than beta versions.

The HP Touchpad comes with webOS, which is a ler version of the Palm OS. The software in the device could be five or ten times more useful if the just did ten percent more. It is good to read PDF files except it is inconvenient to go to specific pages.

If you get the HP Touchpad and use it with the webOS then you should install something called Preware; it is called "pre" due to a previous model of phone that used the Palm OS.

*Note to those who are considering putting Android on this*

While the current roms offered by Cyanogenmod seem to run pretty nicely they still do not have a stable version of it. So you might be fine but it's not going to be as smooth as stable roms they have for various phones.

That being said it's a fun little gadget to tinker around with.

If your experience with WebOS was that it was slow, or if you're pointing to a review before WebOS 3.0.4 came out (it's now at 3.0.5), you aren't seeing what this tablet can do.
HP has done monstrous performance upgrades to WebOS, which was quite surprising since they came out well after the product was discontinued.

Also, with preware and the very active community, there is a huge amount of good software available for this thing (both paid and free, though I've only used free stuff so far).

Yes, Android has more apps, and it's extremely difficult to find apps of the same caliber (you have to wade through hundreds of rip-offs and clones and garbage to find the good ones in Android). If you're interested in running Android on it, see my post above.
