Probably, but I swear to god it sounds better under ICS. I was, um, less than impressed with the sound on WebOS. To the point where I will not EVER be purchasing something that tries to tell me it has Beats and is therefore awesome.

[quote postid="5002185" user="glabifrons"]Dual-booting mine with ClassicNerd and loving it! Best of both worlds (excellent multitasking and incredibly easy to use UI in WebOS, and infinite numbers of apps in Android).
You can find older versions of CN on classicnerd.net, but if you dig through the last 10 pages on the Classicnerd ICS thread on XDA Developers, you'll find the current one (based on ICS 4.0.4) with many fixes over what's on the website (not sure why they haven't uploaded it yet).

Nice info. i have ic7 on mine, because ic9 was still scetchy when i did it... but looks like your info killed classicnerd.net, @ least for now

denzelzhao wrote:I find TouchPad comments to be so amusing.

A year ago, no one bought the TouchPads because they were uninspiring, middling tablets. Now that they are discontinued, they are suddenly the most awesome tablets in the world. I don't understand how this whole craze made people forget that the design sucks, there's no camera, and there's virtually no apps with no new ones on the way.

Why not just buy a first gen Xoom for $50-$100 more and actually get a working ICS system with access to Google Market? Or if you actually want a tablet for the kids or just to play on, why not just get a Kindle Fire?

u must not own one. they have a cam on the front that works just fine for a well integrated skype app.

what is your mental malfunction?

Welcome to Woot. As a general rule, each Woot site sells only one item a day, and this one expired at midnight CST. You can read about it in their FAQ. Just click that link above & to the right, "What is Woot?" They may sell it again sometime, so you can always keep checking.

Various other vendors have been selling refurbished Touchpads at slightly higher prices. People often list such deals on Woot's deals site. I did a search there, here's the link to the results. Looks like Newegg has them for $210, including shipping. (and a free leather sleeve).

Ordered an HP touchpad for 200 two days ago and they have a xoom on sale at sellout woot today. I would definitely cancel this order from woot and order the xoom but I would have to order the xoom before I heard back from them on the cancellation. Does anyone know how they handle these things?

$250 Xoom on Sellout Woot today. See ya.

I see the Xoom deal today for $50 more. It looks like the touchpad has better hardware and seems like a better deal if you can handle the ICS piece. Not sure which I would get if I was given a choice. Still excited about the Touchpad, and not looking back!

An uneducated question I probably should've asked before putting my order in:

Looks like the TouchPad has no GPS...what does that do for apps like 'Around Me', 'Yelp', etc? Will they work? If not, is there a work-around?

Touchpad ordered Friday, arrive the next day. Nice.

I've been experimenting with it (my first tablet) and recharged once after the initial full charge. Now, on attempt to do third charge, nothing. Anyone else have this problem. It will be totally dead within a couple of hours.

Update: Get cat-proof cable! Yea, I had it one day and the fuzzy little bastard chewed right through... in several places. Bought replacement at Fry's and it's charging fine.

I've used both and ICS runs better on the touchpad than the 1st generation Xoom. Apps load quicker and it's more responsive. That's probably the case with a lot of first generation android tablets that were upgraded to ICS. It's surprising how well the CM9 alpha2 port works. I was expecting it to be buggy and clunky. The camera and mic don't work, but it's easy enough to boot to webos for skype.

It will work like that. It can also be used with a bluetooth gps receiver. The mini keychain ones sell for about $25 on ebay.

Mine hasn't shipped either; this is my first woot and I'm more than slightly nervous.

Do they send out emails with tracking information?

Yes, you'll get an email with tracking info. My last woot was Jan 13 and the email arrived Jan 19 (as did the item I purchased).

I haven't received an email about the TP I picked up in this woot either.

Be aware there was another woot for the TP before this one and those people may be getting theirs.

Thank you and 'shockerengr' for your answers. Cheers.

Pretty excited about this purchase. Just got an e-mail from woot that says it's shipped and should arrive 5/28 which is...Memorial Day. I'm guessing it'll be more like 05/29 but that won't stop me from hoping it'll be here by the weekend.

MIne came today and I am none too happy. It was rattling around inside a smaller box inside a huge box... there was foam in the smaller box but the touch pad wasnt "in the foam" and it was just loose being shaken to death. It appears to work, but what total crap packaging i've seen bags of crap with better packing woot!

Same here. Not quite sure what Fedex means, because Monday is a federal holiday, and it seems that the Touchpad will delivered by USPS. I'm hoping that it gets here ahead of schedule!

Mine should get here today.... very eager to get home.

Does anyone have suggestions for cases, protectors, slip cases? Or, in general, protection?

Thanks,
Mike

The official case is available on Amazon. I have one on order myself, so I'll see how it is real soon. Make sure to check the additional sellers; there's one there selling them for $9 shipped, though they take extra time to ship.

http://www.shopping.hp.com/en_US/home-office/-/search-SimpleOfferSearch?PageSize=15&search=&SearchTerm=touchpad

I picked up the first three items (a slipcase, another charger, and the official case) from HP and they combined, with shipping, to be a shade less than 20 bucks.

If I like the the TP the next purchases I'll make will be the Touchstone charger and wireless keyboard from Amazon. Their prices seem comparable and they offer free shipping on both.

My TP arrived yesterday and out of the box when I tried to charge it, the cable does not fit securely into the charging port. I have to move the cable around until it shows that its charging and then hope the cable doesn't move and lose connection. Common problem with TP? I have requested a RMA. I am in the WOOT area ... can I return it myself?

Added: Found a co-worker who ordered one as well ... same exact charging issue.

How long does WOOT take to respond. He email'd a couple of days ago with no response.

Not to complain but why'd my tablet get sent up to New Berlin WI when I live in Fort Wayne IN? Is that really the closest distribution center? Grrrr I want my Tablet before the weekend so I can play and it looks like that won't be happening :/
