[quote postid="5012585" user="teenracer6"]Be careful when buying a VIZIO.

I bought a Vizio about 6 months ago at Sam's Club. As a matter of fact, it is the exact same model as the one on sale here. I paid $320 PLUS tax for it! It has proved to be a great television, as we have never had a problem with it. (wish I bought it here...we would have saved a lot of money)

It sounds like Vizio is kind of hit or miss.

So keep that in mind, you're either going to get a great product for a great price or it's going to break on you.

On the plus side, it's a refurb, so the hit rate is probably a tad higher than the miss rate since they test and identify defects prior to certifying them as refurbs.

I bought this same model for $250 at Target about 6 months ago. It has been great so far. I also have a 42" LED Vizio in the living room that is about two years old, and has had no problems. They are repairable, though. A friend had a 47" Vizio that had a problem, and they repaired it. I don't remember if he was under the factory warranty, or the store brand extended warranty, though.

Don't worry. At the rate these are selling, the next item (bags of crap maybe?) won't be up until afternoon tea time.

We bought this TV about 9 months ago from Secondipity, where it was listed as in "excellent condition" through a deals.woot sale.

The TV is GREAT. Maybe we just lucked out, but seriously, this thing is remarkable. We haven't done any gaming on it, but for sports, movies (streamed or DVD) all of our Roku stuff, regular digital broadcasts ... it's been great.

Are Vizio's "hit or miss" - yeah, probably. Like most or maybe ALL TV's. For that reason, we would not dream of spending, say, $1800 on a mere TV. If the TV has a one-year warranty, that comes to $150 a month just to own a TV that is very likely to simply die.

Buy it at, say, Costco and get an extended warranty, or get one via American Express and it gets a little better.

But we'd much rather buy a TV for $200 - 500 and then consider every day after the warranty is up to be gravy than be grinding our teeth over the death of a television.

Best Buy deal of the day: Dynex™ - 32" Class - LCD - 720p - 60Hz - HDTV

Not sure about the quality of Dynex brand, but it seems similar and can be picked up in store for about the same price give or take a few dollars due to sales tax.

If I recall correctly Dynex is Bestbuy's electronics brand. They are made by Sharp and LG.

If I won the lottery I would buy all of it and send it to everyone who have commented on this woot. However I never bought a lottery ticket before, but if it did happen that is what I would do. Lots of love.

I have an older model of this, it's built like a tank, but you get what you pay for.

Even if it was $50 cheaper, It would be a tough buy. Last time I ordered a flat screen Fedex broke the dang thing and left it on my doorstep. Had to wait like 6 weeks for a claim to be processed.

I'm going to play the protagonist here and say that there would probably be much better things you could do than buy everyone on these forums a Vizio Television.

Sceptre 32" 720p Widescreen LCD HDTV for $180 + pickup at Walmart
Walmart offers the Sceptre 32" 720p Widescreen LCD HD Television, model no. X322BV-HD, for $179.98. Choose free Site-to-Store pickup to dodge the $19.97 shipping fee. That's $20 under our April mention and the lowest price we've seen. (It's a current price low by $101.) Sales tax is added where applicable. It features a 1366x768 (720p) native resolution, 3,000:1 native contrast ratio, 420 cd/m² brightness, 6.5ms response time, three HDMI inputs, and VGA and other video inputs.

Spectre in my experience (2 of them) is junk. No problems with any of the Vizios we have. Would readily buy another, but going for SIZE next time around. Have a big blank wall crying out for something outlandishly enormous.

i'll add my comment to the fwiw pile:

i bought one of this model new about a year ago and have had no problems with it *except* it seems to have some funny volume issues here and there. for instance: at one point, at "20" the volume is fine, and then 10 minutes later, on the same station, the same show, it's almost inaudible. it's happened a few times, on a few stations, but i've no clue what's causing it, and it isn't consist, or even frequent enough for me to really care... ymmv, of course.

I originally thought they put this up so they could go to lunch, but it doesn't look like it's going to make it though lunch hour anymore.

And then also I remembered they're in a different time zone.

They are HQ'd in Texas I believe, so it's only 11:30. Just in time for another big slow item to go up. Another computer maybe.

Is anyone having a problem with their tv not powering on? It worked fine the first day it arrived, I didn't use it for 2 days, now today it will not turn on or do anything. Very frustrated and disappointed. I don't want to have to pay for return shipping for a 32" tv!!

Received mine today. The unit is scratched up, smells like used tech, and they didn't include the base to stand the friggin thing up. It is difficult to watch TV with it laying flat on the floor. This was a terrible woot.

At least yours works. Mine failed after 10 minutes. The Vizio logo lights up red, but it won't power up (i.e., Vizio logo turning white). The tech at Vizio said it's probably a failed main board.

I received my tv yesterday, it looked like crap. It came on for a few minutes then went out. We unplugged it for a few minutes then plugged it back up and received the V logo.
I couldn't get it to turn back off without unplugging. I see i'm not the only that received a box of crap.

Purchased one of these via Woot for my Mom and just received it yesterday and set it up for her. It is her first HD TV and she was plenty excited.

Let me correct that....she WAS excited until this morning when I get a call from her at 6:45AM saying that the TV will not turn on. Went over to her place and the set is receiving power but will not turn on no matter what troubleshooting I try.

As I was setting it up for her I noticed that it did this once but unplugging it from the surge protector then plugging it back in worked. This morning, nothing worked.

My first Woot dud. Going to check the packaging to see if I should contact the manufacturer for a replacement or send it back to Woot.

Anyone ever had an experience like this? The FAQ said that contacing the manufacturer typically gets you a replacement that's a better model. I fully realize this was a refurb but as I was unpacking the TV I noticed where dust had collected in spots as if it had sat on a shelf for a while. I've purchased plenty of refurb electronics and never saw dust buildup.

Fingers crossed on contacting Sony (or whoever the packaging directs me to contact).

I bought the same one on May 4th off of moofi. I received it May 12th and it died on May 27th with the same symptoms as described above. The feedback from customer service was the same as well. I had to pay to ship it back to Purrfectrefurbs.com for repairs.

At what point does this deal become raw? When the TV goes out or when they run your credit card at the post office?

Looks like the company that sold these through Woot, Purrfect Refurbs, just registered their domain name in March (http://reports.internic.net/cgi/whois?whois_nic=purrfectrefurbs.com&type=domain/) That might explain why I've never been able to reach a live person when I call their offices. Even more interestingly, their domain name registration expires in one year. What kind of a company registers their domain name for just one year??
