Ooooh, new photo... I miss the iPad with the Woot! logo, though.

For when your analog wireless pen just won't get the job done.

How do these work? Does it save the drawing you make in like Paint or something?

I haven't used a pen to write something other than my signature since 1999. I wonder how much my handwriting has changed? (writes) Eh, not much, still sucks...

Can anyone tell me why I need this device? I can't think of many applications for this.

Artists and cartoonists would probably love it.

Signatures are harshing my mellow.

Does this require special paper like some other digital pens?

what if you make a mistake? is any part of the process editable? baffled a bit...

This pen doesn't require the special dotted paper and as far as I can tell creates an image file out of whatever you draw/write.

You could then run it through an OCR if you wanted an editable text file.

I guess if it's convenient to carry a pen and notepad but not a PC/tablet then this could make sense.

Digitizing class notes for college students so you don't have to lug a laptop to class and keep a ton of papers lying around would be my application for it...

Just use White-Out.

I would imagine it has an way to erase.

Very few reviews online for this but those that exist are not exactly complimentary.

Sounds like it's pretty hit&miss and/or the software doesn't have a "finished" feel to it.

One person mentioned that it doesn't work on Android tablets and it doesn't support A4 sized (standard) paper....which seems like pretty fatal flaws in my opinion.

I'm too cool for a signature.

Looks like this pen is rated pretty low all across several site you should pass and pick up a bamboo instead they are great. Located here http://www.amazon.com/Wacom-CTL460-Bamboo-Pen-Tablet/dp/B002OOWC3I

I want one, I just can't justify paying this much for it. Would it just end up on my desk as a paper weight?

While 2 reviews on Amazon is hardly indicative of this device...the 1st review says it all:

I bet you could trace over someone else's signature with this to digitize it so you could forge their checks.

You just flip it around and use the wireless eraser.

A4 is only standard if you are in Europe...

No. It uses regular paper and a standard ink cartridge. However, if it is defective and you have to return it for a replacement, they want you to pay to return it. Apen sucks like that.

I never finish anythi...

I have an Adesso Cyberpad. It's not wireless per se. With the Cyberpad you basically have a clipboard that you can put a legal pad or whatever you want to write on, on top of and it records what you write or draw. you can tell it when to go to next page, etc...
All that to say that there is a purpose in this stuff. When I meet with clients at lunch or such, it's a lot less intimidating and easier for both to see the less technology you use. So I'm sketching out an idea or writing notes as we go. Once the meeting is done, I take the pad back to my laptop and zap it into Evernote. Then it's filed, tagged, and searchable. There is still a use for analog. Even the guys that made Evernote say they use it most to just take pictures of their handwritten notes from that day.

my big concern with this product is that I lose pens...like all the time.

if you have enough, they're basically interchangeable--some are better then others, if you get desperate, there's always a promotional pen of some sort that can be snagged (or a bic)...but losing this would be bad.

very very bad. and even if I had more then one, they have different data on them so, not interchangeable.

the nice thing about this comes from the same place. I like writing stuff out (even if it gets retyped, I think better writing), but I lose my notes or they get written over.

this way, I could take the pen I wrote them with and beam the stuff to my computer and see what was worthwhile in there and sort it out.

seems like a good idea.

or I could stop losing things, but I've worked at that for years and gotten nowhere....

The "THEN" keyword ruins it for me. Draw on paper THEN transfer to PC. While that may have some limited usage (read: if you're too lazy to take your drawing to a scanner) the lack of live drawing in a PC program or app makes this completely unworthy.
Add a feature where (when the receiver is plugged in via USB) you can us it like a wacom or bamboo replacement, then I'll reconsider
