Don't expect netflix to work, since it doesn't use hardware acceleration, even though they could. To put it into perspective, The Binding of Isaac (which is just a executable Flash game) stutters when being played, but XBMC playing 1080p videos encoded with h264 from my file server is smooth as glass.

I have an E-350 in my HTPC (1.6 vs 1.3), which handles 1080p no problem.

Of course Netflix will work. *GEESH*

I think I like it, but I do miss the product description dominating the front page. I like the Woot.Plus or whatever it is but I'd like to wait and see what other kinds of long-term deals there are in the future. They really need to be worth it (personally) for me to feel like they're justified in taking up additional front page space.

The top navigation is great!

Oh looky -- it's Amazon.com on eight separate colorful snazzy websites instead of on just one bland website.

Er... Wait, make that two sites -- counting Local.Amazon (which actually covers my major metropolitan area of residence and area's around my area unlike Local.Woot which is still limited to only 4 cities across the entire continental United States none of which are closer than 1,300 miles.)

Any word on whether or not Woot will ever again offer "outstanding" deals? Because there hasn't been an "outstanding" deal on anything most everyone wants/needs outside of Deals.Woot for ages.

While most people associate 17" laptops with near desktop-level performance, this laptop is anything but. I have worked with the AMD E-300 CPU and it runs like a mid-range CPU from 2008. The RAM, HD, and Graphics are all fine for running Windows 7, but the processor bottlenecks everything you run, and unfortunately it's the one part most people can't or won't upgrade.

Yes, it's 300 bucks. Just understand that it will be slow the day you unbox it, and painfully slow a year from now.

Is this an HP or a Toshiba? You can't have both!

I just re-read the description:
"Toshiba C675D/S7101B, 17.3” TruBrite LED, Dual-Core 1.3GHz, 4GB, 500GB, Radeon 6310, 802.11n, Windows 7 HP Notebook"

Look at the second to last word.

The new format LOOKS nice, but I don't see all the side deals.

bauhaus1919 wrote:Why not? I already had trouble explaining to people what woot is...watching their interest in a one-product-a-day concept dwindle as I explain that it's actually eleven deals per day plus the community posts...now it's more like:

"You've never heard of it? Oh, it's different because it's just one product per day and when it sells out it's sold out until the next day and $5 flat shipping for up to three items...except it's 20-some-odd deals that are up and good for varying lengths of time and shipping varies. Well, it used to be different anyway."

Yeah, unless they fix woot, so you know.... we're back to the original concept. I think I'm done coming here.

The thing that makes me curious is that they use the example of $5 to ship your new woot purchase PLUS a shirt from shirt.woot. The only thing is, shirt.woot doesn't charge shipping for standard orders (you can pay to expedite). Did marketing just use a bad example, or is this a sign of things to come at shirt.woot?

....and another thing, I really don't like that you guys hid the description. I see what you did there with the start of things but then you have to go to another page to read the rest. I really think a lot of quality jokes will be missed. But then I'm sure you'll hide Bunch of Change in there sometime soon.

And suddenly everyone's a web designer...

Apparently there are a lot of folks living in their parents' dark basements (it's too bright!!!) on 15 year old computers (it doesn't fit on my screen!!!) with ADD (it's too cluttered!!!) and a general attitude of laziness (I don't WANT to have to click to see that!!!).

There are a few things I'd do differently, but overall I think it's an improvement. I really like the combined purchase history, and the tabs on the top. I would consider using what is currently the offer page in place of the top "teaser" section of each woot home page (yes, I'm lazy and don't want to have to click for that info, either), or use a "hide/show" feature for some things, so that the page is less cluttered on loading, but all the info can be displayed without changing pages.

I'd also make more of a separation between the lower sections of the page (Woot!Plus, Woot!Community, ads, etc.). Give them some breathing room.

I also miss having the "top posts" prominently featured in the top corner of the page. That's one of the more entertaining features of Woot!

Oh, and thanks for keeping the outside ads low on the page.

I'm sure I'll find more that I don't like (and DO like) over the next week or two, and during the first woot-off on the new site. But overall, i'm ok with the redesign (although why you had to be down an entire day to switch over is a bit of a mystery...you were all at a company BBQ all day, weren't you?).

I like the design. I like the white background. It loads so much faster than before. I love that you can see all of your old orders in one place. One suggestion... could we please have a direct link back to the comment page from when we bought the item. Oftentimes comments continue after the sale, especially if things go wrong. I tried to re-address a comment made a few weeks ago, but the link was back to the Woot-off not the day that we bought it.

Or there are people who browse from work and may not have a state of the art computer there. Also, laziness in not wanting to work extra hard to give Woot! our money? It's not so much having to click something, as the reasons behind making us click on that thing (to generate extra ad revenue).

thumperchick wrote:About the product:
I love my Toshiba. It's a core i3, but in the same family as this one and it works great. With one flaw, the touchpad is heat sensitive and if you rest your hands near it to type or while navigating with the other hand, it can affect the direction of your cursor.

About the new site:
I like a lot of the new functionality, but having to click through to go to the full write up is irritating. Once you jump to the ???.woot.com page you're looking for, you shouldn't have to click again to get the spec's of the product on that page.

The top nav bar is perfect. With the new pic thumbnails, I probably won't even use a wootalyzer anymore, for the most part.

The "stuff you bought" page is awesome as an aggregate, but I wonder if there should still be an option to break it down by site? (I haven't seen one)

With the top bar there, do you really need the block of thumbnails on the right?

So... woot+ is woot, plus a bunch of what would/should be moofi/sponsored deals? I like that they're available. Just not sure about the "busy" of the page now.

I'll stop for now =)
