This just may be the first time I actually LIKE a website layout change. Sure glad Woot didn't use the Web developers Ebay uses.

Vizio 32” 720p LCD HDTV (2 of them), Seagate 750GB SATA/300 7200RPM Hard Drive, SiliconDust HDHomeRun Dual Digital HDTV Tuner, Kodak Theater HD Player, Acer Aspire One 10.1” Netbook, Philips Prestigo 8-Device Universal Remote, Asus Eee PC 900 Netbook with 1.6GHz Atom Processor, Philips Upconverting DVD Player with DivX and HDMI, Ashley Rock Axe Full Size Rockband and Guitar Hero Controller for PS2 and PS3, Philips Icon 5 Device Universal Remote, and a bunch of other carp.

Upon entering the "New" Woot, I'm reminiscent of early childhood days of starting a new school. A feeling of nervousness, yet excitement at the same time. Will I like it? Can I get used to all the changes? Will I fit in somehow? Will the teachers hate me? Will the "I'm on the rag" excuse help keep me from running that mile in gym class?! Will the lunchroom lady have a hairy mole on her chin?!?
Oh. Uhh...yeah...sorry about that. I forgot I was talking about the NEW Woot.
Anyway, I guess there will be things I don't like so much, and things that I'll appreciate. Some things I'll hate immediately, but may grow to love. Either way, it's the same community...and that's a huge part of Woot being Woot. As long as the regulars don't scramble at the sight of new the site, I think I'll be OK. We can get through this together. Change is good...right? Hello?

Makes it look like you are getting a "really great deal!" instead of just getting a really good deal. Kind of like those going out of business furnature stores where you can save 137.43% of the suggested retail price. I say let the woots stand on their own like they always did.

Totally agree. Also after figuring out how to find out the actual model/condition of the item and then looking it up...disappointingly so it is now just the same item every other site is selling for the exact same price. Oh well...I guess the REAL Woot is dead. R.I.P. Woot...it was a good run while it lasted.

New navigation and options are great. Will have to buy something to see the process through.

Not a huge fan of woot!plus on top. I'll probably use it as often as the advertisements at the bottom.

On a side note.... Was anyone else completely and utterly lost yesterday without their daily injection of woot? Esp wandering around deals woot.

Change for the sake of change and $ bills? Time will tell. But, I don't think I'll tell people about WOOT anymore. It'll just confirm their suspicions that I'm crazy as hell since it's not very special now. I can't see the scale under the map. I swear, why did ya have to eff with the map? No respect...

Worked on one of these Toshiba Laptops at work. The Problem with these is that they're full size laptops with Netbook class processors. The one I used had a E-450 processor, and it was ok, but it was slow for anything other than web. I could only imagine what a E-300 would be like. Battery life was great but it should be for a netbook with a laptop battery.

Regarding the site. Looks good but now my Chumby Woot app doesn't work anymore. Considering that Chumby is out of business and there's no chance that the app will be fixed there goes one of my most convenient ways of checking Woot.

I no longer fear Hell, Because I know Satan will just put me in my office and unleash an unending barrage of stupidity towards me.

Pros:

The tabs are a nice touch.

Cons:

I have to click-through to see the writeup and specs? Boo!
Woot!plus on the front page? Nope.

Overall:

I see what you're going for, but the design violates pretty much everything I loved about Woot! in the first place. IT was simple, creative, direct and to the point. Now it just looks like a giant TV infomercial, full of visual spam. The only thing missing is a loud audio track yelling "...BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!!!" In my opinion, you guys have really missed the mark here.

Oops. Just realized there were other areas to post my opinions of the new site. Must have missed them in the messy chaos that Woot has become. Feel free to move my previous post to the correct forum, moderators. Thanks!

Just curious as to what apps ran slow, and how many apps did you have open?

Maybe it's just because I do mostly writing and use simple image editing programs (as opposed to Photoshop), but I get good performance out of even my cheap little Wooted netbook I got here a couple of years ago.

download a program called f.lux

It uses your local time to dim the laptop automatically when the sun goes down.

It's free, too.

Great for when you are looking at the screen late at night- won't hurt your eyes.

Sure. But could you include some of the product reviews in the top comments? So far all that's been called out are comments about woot's new look. And while I'm moderately interested in that, I'm much more interested in the typical fare of finding out if I'm going to plunk down my $$$ for this product. Without access to that information, the answer is no.

So my question is this: what do you care more about? Making sales or finding out how people like your new website? If it's the former, can you help those of us find the information we need to decide?

Thanks.

Whoa. Hold on a minute!

I am hoping those of you who keep proclaiming woot! is dead and are leaving the site because of this change are just blowing steam out your arses because the redesign is so different and you are overwhelmed at the moment. If you hate the new site- provide constructive feedback! Woot has always done a great job of listening and responding to what their customers (family) have suggested. After all, we are their lifeblood, and I'm certain they don't want to alienate us! Those who have been here a long time are not just here for the stuff- it's the whole community atmosphere that makes woot unique. If you hate it- don't leave- give it some time- tell them what is great and what sucks.

I know I hate change, but I'll adapt and I'll give them my two cents if I see issues.

I've already noted it's too bright. I do love the white, but I don't want to tone my whole screen down just for this site. Bring it back closer to eggshell white.

I love the tabs.
I like the text.
I hate the screen size (now I shrunk my screen to fit it all and I think I need a magnifying glass to see everything).
I don't like the description on another page.
I hate the ginormous wootplus boxes. Not interested in the extra stuff that much. They need to be smaller or less prominent in the center. I want to focus squarely on the daily deal- I'll hover the tabs, then I'll zip around if I feel up to it.
But enough for now.

As for laptop- Refurb? meh. You always take a chance when you buy one. Can cost lots of time and extra money to exchange if you get a lemon. (I know because it happened to me before).

not whining, just opinions.
