Really? I have to click a link to see the entire daily Woot? Your daily flagship item has been reclassified as a second-class citizen!

Landing page seems extremely cluttered.

Pro: I like the tabbed links at the top of the page for the other incarnations of Woot. This "pro" does little to offset the many "cons" of the new design.

Let's try again...

Woody1 wrote:Where in hades was Amazon in the planning of this change? Their site is clean, advert free, simple to navigate.

Amazon probably provided the template. I just pulled up Amazon.com and I see:
-So, so bright. The Amazon logo is the darkest thing on the entire page.
-Two third-party ads and two "sponsored by X" partner ads.
-Four internal features, one of which is for a credit card with bad terms.
-Six (!!) targeted product-placement lists and one list of Father's Day suggestions.
-Two bestseller lists, which despite being probably the most interesting thing listed only get a small column on the right side of this stupefyingly-cluttered main page.

Most of this is irrelevant because the search bar is front and center where it should be, and that's what people come to Amazon for--not all the crap below it. Amazon could put donkey @wootlive on the front page and it wouldn't have any impact on sales because everyone just ignores eveyrthing but that search bar. But people come to Woot for the one deal and funny write up, there is no inventory to do a search on. While the main page is irrelevant for Amazon, it is Woot's stock in trade. And monkeying around with that is Serious Business, especially when it involves moving the stuff that makes Woot what it is--the product info--deeper into the site while plastering unanted partner deals in its place.

I hate it.

I think what I hate more is that I specifically wrote everything I hated about the new format, the latest woot offs, and choices of items offered. I posted when there were only 2 pages of comments. I read my message to see if I screwed it up. 20+ hours later it seems to be gone.

Hmmm.

Too, too busy. I preferred the old one, where the daily woot was front and centre, not surrounded by this that and the other thing.

Agreed with everyone... too busy and I don't like that the information on the item is a separate page. Maybe I'll get used to it, but it's lost a bit of it's charm.

Well, with the polls going last week in regards to "what you'd like to see changed" -- I figured something new would be coming.
I'm very happy to see that my vote won and that everything's been combined (as far as order history) -- that was a much needed addition.

I liked it simple. That was the whole draw of the site. "we have one thing for sale. Here it is."

I don't like it.

quality posts: 5 Private Messages markmc27

It takes to much time. So I tend to think I will start to equate Woot.com to waste of my time.

Just show what is for sale quickly. I guess the idea is to sell ad space ass well. Which is shocking, unbelivable... different even.

It could have been a lot worse.

Its not like Star Wars in the 1990's or anything.

The first few posts really hit the nail on the head. It's too advertisement based, lost personality.

Personality and catchy stories made it not just another site that sells stuff. THAT is why I told people about it. The tabs at the top are nice, but in general it's just no fun.

It's the product descriptions that would draw you into the page, like a blog almost. If I gotta click, you lost me.

It's too busy and too many advertisements/ thigns being sold on one page. Woot was that quirky place that you told people about because it was so different. Where is the funny product description? This is feels to commercial and overwhelming.

I also HATE the % off the list price. Who on woot ever even looks at or cares about list price. We care about deals... and what the next lowest price is compared to woot.

Don't like it.

You have to click a link from woot.com to see the whole daily woot? Wasn't the daily woot what woot was founded on?? Whoever thought that was a good idea should be fired for destroying the entire wooting experience.

The only good thing is the tabs at the top, everything else is horrible. The colors suck, the enjoyment is gone. It's just advertisement now, it's not a unique wooting experience. This is so generic its sad. It's like a page in a magazine where they shamelessly bombard you with advertisements you don't care about. Shirt.woot is nasty now too. Hmmm do I want to pay $2 more per shirt for this layout? No... No I do not.

I will no longer tell people with excitement and enthusiasm that "I got it at woot.com!" for fear of them actually going to woot and seeing this crap. No sir, I will keep my mouth shut about this site until it is restored.

Blech. Not really a fan of the new layout. The whitespace above the top tab bar is odd and annoying. (Is my ad blocker hiding something? It's flush to the top on deeper pages, as I'd expect it to be.) I do appreciate the unification of woot sub-sites via tabs, but this is thus far the only positive change.

Product page has too much emphasis on social sharing, loses easy-to-scan top posts, images of other sub-woots, and full description.

In all, the page seems designed to enhance click-through to other products, but drastically loses the focus on the day's product.

Wheeling

quality posts: 0 Private Messages Wheeling

What a loss.

The best thing about Woot! was that I didn't feel like I was shopping. With the addition of Woot! Plus and the multi-page, multi-tab, multi-menu setup, it's not a "one deal one day" exclusive page anymore. Now it just looks like an Amazon Gold Box Satellite store.

Really lost the spirit of Woot! and I hope they reconsider the change. I miss all the descriptions being on the page with nothing else, and seeing the community chatter about the product without having to click some silly scrollbar thing.

Clearly the design heads have never met the original woot! team that made the site so successful because they truly missed the mark on this and designed something that was not in line with the product concept.

It would be like going in to a electronics store to buy a gadget and finding all these gadgets in ziplock baggies with no instructions or specs on them. Just a note in the bag that says, "go look it up if you want the details."

Bleh.

I hate that the new design did not take mobile devices as a viable platform on which to view woot.

I used to open my daily digest email and open the browser to "read more" while I took care of my morning constitutional. The new site sucks so bad on a mobile device - and the "read more" link - takes me all the way to the main page of the item being sold - not the main woot page where I could easily look at ALL the items up on all the child sites (kids, home, sellout, wine...).

Today - I clicked the link - went to the product page - waited forever for it to load......then had to click on the main tab......wait for it to load......then "find" the other sites (oh yeah - had to zoom in to read it).....JUST to figure out if I wanted to bother reading it later on my PC when I get to work.

Needless to say - wooting took longer than I allot for my morning "duties", so I stopped and likely wont again until something changes in the current format

How do I delete my account? Voiced my displeasure yesterday. Figured I'd come here today just to see if anything had changed and what people were saying. Initially greeted with pop up telling me to sign in. Awful!! Then tried finding this discussion and couldnt and had to go back to my 'history' just to find my way back to this page. AWFUL! Then like an foolish fool I saw a product which looked 'cool' but no info was there so this foolish fool clicked it where it immediately tried to re-direct me to another totally different website and my VIRUS protection alerted me to the fact I was trying to access a website with 'a non verifiable certificate' and said 'xxxx cannot verify the validity of certificate. you can proceed to the destination by clicking here but by doing so may cause harm to your computer and/or PUT MY PERSONAL INFORMATION AT RISK'!!!!!

HOW DO I DELETE MY ACCOUNT?? No friggin way am I keeping my personal info, credit card info and etc on the 'new woot'. Its just not safe to do so and scoring a deal on woot (not that they are really 'deals' anymore....just the same junky stuff so many other sites sell, with no actual discount off of price) is not worth having my computer at risk or having my personal info compromised.

Keeping my woot account open is = to me turning off my virus protection and visiting scam sites overseas which specialize in all sorts of nasty stuff and is = to me taking my personal info and plastering it on an 'internet billboard' for billions to see.

So, how do I delete my Acct????? Buying a 'widget' (ficticious product) on woot for the same $25 I can buy it on hundreds of other SAFE sites is not worth compromising my computer and personal info....in fact, I want to DELETE ASAP...The thought of having my personal info on this new woot is SCARY. I want it deleted ASAP before some guy in malaysia is accessing my personal info. I think people are nuts if they leave their personal info on the 'new woot'.

Lastly, I did peruse the comments since yesterday and yes, I know woot doesnt care as they are now making more money thru ad's but the number of people leaving woot is very high. I've never seen any company care so little when a large % of their customer base wants to leave. I see ALOT of woot power users with so many woots their thingy says they are better then everybody.....saying they are leaving as well.

I think this is going to end up biting woot in the butt. Businesses have a hard time succeeding if they alienate their customers and drive them away, especially long time big spending customers that will take their biz to the competition and I dont think advertisers will stick around when either the customer base dwindles, they dont get enough 'clicks' or they dont sell much thru the ad's....Folks will pull their ad's in this instance meaning woot just lost a large % of their 2 sources of revenue.

My prediction = Down the road, Woot will be gone or will be a struggling ghost of its former self or bought out by one of the thousands of similar sites 'hanging on by a string', looking for anyway to 'stay afloat' and when amzn decides woot is killing its image or not making the $ they expect or is pissing people off so much they wont even go to amzn or are calling/emailing amzn to complain....., AMZN will have no problem selling woot for pennies on the dollar. AMZN is not woot and woot is not amzn, but amzn has far bigger fish to fry and they arent going to let woot effect their business in a negative manner when they are trying to keep up with the googles, apples and etc.....AMZN has HUGE plans for its future and that future does not include allowing woot to effect its business or image in any negative manner or form. Yet that is exactly what the new woot is doing to amzn now and woot is a pimple on an elephants butt to amzn in the grand scheme and amzn is not going to allow this pimple to effect it negatively, which it already has judging by comments/discussions occuring on amzn and lots of other sites/blogs etc....

Now that im done venting, I want out..How do I delete my full account and ALL INFO? ALL INFO..I WANT NONE OF MY PERSONAL INFO ARCHIVED/CACHED on the 'new woot'.

Tried that already. Only got the usual automated response with nothing since. And honestly, Im sure they can delete my acct but I dont have much faith that my info will be completely wiped even if they say it will..it still will likely be archived/cached so looks like i'll be pushing higher up the 'totem pole' then service@woot

This is just bad. Way too bright, too cluttered. Yet again, corporate America sticks their head where it doesn't belong. Woot should seperate from Amazon ASAP; ever since the "partnership", it's been downhill. As I gave in my beta feedback(which took 3 attempts to actually be submitted).. Too busy trying to change things, to look around and see how good it already is. If people are so lazy they can't make a few extra clicks to see particular information, then they should stop using the internet until it becomes embedded in their brains.

Looks too much like 1saleaday, which I only check about once a month. I like the combined order history, but other than that, the site looks generic and low rent.
