Ha, check this out. I got an email from woot saying they saw my post and deleted my account and If I wanted to come back I'd have to sign up again. I replied back saying I want more then just my account deleted. I needed all personal info removed from their archives/cache.

No response back on that and im not holding my breath cause why am I even able to post and everything is exactly as it was before, if they say they deleted my account? I could click and buy something right now. LOL....If they couldnt get that right I doubt they have a clue how to remove my personal info in the manner I want it done as I simply do not feel safe with the 'new woot' having my personal info archived/cached.

But I'll bet they manage to delete this post in record time!

Came back this morning to see if I had gotten used to the new design yet. I hadn't. Didn't even make it past the first (of two) pages to look at the main item, and didn't bother to spend time clicking through to look at anything else. Bummer, but then I guess the One Day One Deal thing died a long time ago.

This response somehow made me lulzy. The only thing constant online is change.

That being said, the woot!Plus stuff is OK if it's of relevant interest to you. But it's still too darn big right this second. The above "futuredated" comment dramatized by SolidStiles still stands if the icons/linkpix are smaller.

Woot has jumped the shark. I'll still check in for the t-shirts, but don't have interest in the other "deals", or the once-a-week woot offs.

Doesn't matter. I feel like I'm browsing Woot-Mart now. I liked the simplicity of a deal a day with awesome write-up right in front of you. It's what made Woot my first stop every morning. I'm not going to tirade about, "bring it back or I'm outta here", but I also won't be making Woot my first stop with my morning coffee anymore. I don't like being blasted in the face with, "BUY THIS, OR THIS, OR THESE!".

I do love some things about it too, here are a few...

- The top bar/tab menu that scrolls with you is clean and slick and unobtrusive.
- The font seems crisper and the light borders here and there help keep things organized gracefully.
- The gradients on the buttons and tool bars are subtle yet give depth that breaks up the 'flatness' of the monitor (if that makes sense to anyone else, as a web developer, it does to me).
- The Ajax-like ability to expand the text box I'm typing in is not just cool but helpful at times like this when I need to see more of what I'm typing.

You dont think I tried that? Not only that, but all my info is still stored here which is really my main concern. As I posted yesterday and as I emailed woot after they said my acct was deleted....I was more concerned that ALL MY PERSONAL INFO be deleted and it needed to be done manually by somebody in IT. Simply deleting my acct Does not accomplish this and my personal info IS archived/cached on your site and they replied back saying they deleted all my personal info.....Just clueless. My personal info was not deleted and its doubtful they know how to properly delete it.....Im looking at the email right now with woot swearing all my personal info was deleted from their site. When woot decided to change, in my opinion they did more then just 'change the layout'...It's a totally new website/business, not just a new layout. I'll dig thru the fine print but this is akin to belonging to one site....yet that site changes, is sold or whatever, creating a completely different website/business you want no part of but your info is purged to the new company without your permission. Im not happy about this. As I said, I can get over a new 'layout', but this is far more..this is an entirely different business now tied in with links to tons and tons of outside, sites, many of which are not trusted sites. Had I known this was what was happening...creating a new business, not just a new layout, I never would have given my permission to purge my info to the new biz without me 1st checking it out to see if I want to be part of this new business.....Only a fool blindly signs up to websites without fully checking them out.....As far as I know, nobody was asked for permission to move all their stuff to this new business and maybe they didnt have to if its buried in the fine print somewhere, but in my opinion, that is quite dubious. Woot now relying on number of members to figure out how much to charge advertisers. Obviously they didnt want to 'wipe the slate clean' and have no members and then wait to see how many re-sign up on the new site, but that would have been the 'morally correct' thing to do. But woot didnt give folks that option and instead just moved us all over here and now after my acct was deleted and all my personal info deleted from your site, I find it DUBIOUS that my acct is still active and im staring at ALL my personal info that was supposedly deleted. I actually thought about doing just that...Buy something and ask how it was possible to do so if they've told me repeatedly acct was deleted, all personal info is gone and bla bla bla.....But, im not going to buy anything.....nothing I want, nor am I clicking on any links.

Again, at this point woot could tell me anything they want, as they already have, but it simply is not true and the fact im here, with all my personal info staring me in the face on this site when I was GUARANTEED it was removed and the ability to buy if I want, is all I need to know they have no clue how to delete my personal info..they claim they can, they claim they did, but OBVIOUSLY, they dont know what they are talking about, and I'll again stress what my IT guy told me and I'd bet any amount of money that what he says is correct, which again, I think is as obvious as can be to anybody except woot.

Hate the new layout. I used to be able to find deal after deal. I used to love looking at the different tee-shirts and now I can only find one shirt everyday. It was so much better when you could click on the different woot links at the lower right and each one would take you to a new set of deals. I could spend hours pooking around, now 3 mins and I pretty much covered it all. Go back to the old layout!!!!!

Not a fan of the new layout. Too clustered. Too clunky. Too full of... EVERYTHING. I agree with cnflrpngrkn's analogy: too Yahoo when you should have been thinking Google.

The witty & humorous product descriptions were one of the best selling points. Even if I wasn't interested in the actual product, I'd come to read the description. Now, that's been--in effect--hidden.

I appreciate the hard work and effort put into such a modification, but I feel that you didn't keep your core audience in mind.

While there are a few (very few...) things I like about the "new layout," it appears, overall, that Woot has sold itself as a B of C ... Sad-face.

By the way, What the heck is up with B..o..C (without the ..) being automagically changed to "Bouts of Consternation." and W...T...H = What's the Features???!?!?!?! Geesh.

I've bought a few woots... and for the most part I check all the sites once a day and follow the wootoffs...

That's pretty much over with this layout. If someone mentions a decent woot I'll pop in but I definitely won't be checking the site daily in it's current layout.

The Stuff you Bought layout is horrible as well. It was nice having links to the blog and discussions. I just want a list of stuff I bought, not 51 pages of big images and less information.

Not a fan of the new design. Like others, I find it way too busy. I do like the top banner area though. It looks good.

Don't like it. Takes too long to open. Not as fun looking. Odd navigation.

I don't like the new layout at all. To cluttered, to busy, too many scripts. The old layout was clean and easy to navigate around. The new layout really has a late '90s/GeoCities feel (I'm surprised they didn't include a "marquee" tag.

My first woot was in June of 2006. I've purchased a bunch of stuff since then. I'll probably be back, but I don't think Woot will be on my daily browse list anymore.

You do know that woot has no obligation to remove your information right? You agreed to give it to them and agreed to their usage of it per their TOS. Regardless what you want, they will maintain your information in their system because they legally have to for financial reasons (sales tax, income, etc...) Get over it and move on, or get a court order. Until then, just stop coming here and take your illogical rants to some other site.

Yep, SLAMMED with Spam now. Never had a problem with spam maybe got 3-5 per day)before but since 'clicking on links on the new woot', not only did my virus protection go nuts picking out all sorts of nasty crud embedded in the links and the dubious sites, nut now im getting 20+ spams a day.

Apparently my laptop screen resolution isn't good enough and I wasn't at home much yesterday and tried to view it on my cell phone. FORGET IT! This is an Android phone and while it could render the page, trying to pinch (or whatever you call it) to expand the screen was horrible. While trying to log in I got a popup that took over my whole screen!

Today I noticed that the ads at the bottom of the screen are the same! I don't have a stereoscopic screen, why do we need duplicate ads at the bottom. My wife tried to buy something on Friday (not sure what) and apparently her account has been banned and writing to service didn't even warrant a response.

I too am afraid that if this is the future of woot. I'm done.

RIP, spirit of Woot. I don't care for the new format. What is to be gained? What needed to be improved over the old model? Way to go, Amazon.

So - are any woot-staff reading any of these - I have browsed 15 pages of comments - and I have failed to find ANY that way they love everything.....in fact - it looks like everyone hates pretty much everything except the tabs at the top, but I have yet to find any shift back to the old style.

OK, that makes perfect sense. No problem at all. Quite obviously, if my acct was canceled then quite obviously, YES, I would need to re-sign back up.

However, what all of you who are ragging on me fail to comprehend is that if my acct was indeed canceled and all personal info removed and the only way to post comments, buy anything and etc would be to sign back up, then how and why is my supposed canceled acct still active, with all my info, my cc info and etc? I can post, I can buy and etc, ON THE ACCT THAT WAS SUPPOSEDLY CANCELLED, USING the INFO THAT WAS SUPPOSEDLY DELETED.

Furthermore, IF my acct was indeed deleted as woot told me twice, in writing, that it was, how did they manage to put me on probation (due to my reply's to a poster who was insulting me non stop)?? Great Post and exactly why im upset that woot claimed to have deleted my acct and all personal info, when obviously they didnt and now I think it could be quite dangerous using the site or allowing them to have your personal info.

This is what I mean by the 'new woot being potentially harmful.

I received the following, ON WOOT VIA A PRIVATE MAIL/MESSAGE. 1st, DO NOT CLICK THE LINK (not sure if it will show the link in this copy & paste, but it was an ACTIVE link in my private WOOT MAIL, that my Virus Protection found was 'harmul').

This 'message' came PRIVATE and from a user who just signed up yesterday, with zero purchases, zero posts.

How many received the same via private woot mail?? How many received something similar from a different 'new person on woot'?

How many were naive enough to click the link?

Well, those that did clicked a 'harmful link' which puts both your computer, you, and your personal info in serious peril.

I could ask how I even got this private woot mail if woot claims my acct was deleted but i've been over that too many times already.

So, this simply brings us back to the 'new woot' and why it is not and never will be the old woot. Its now just a site, of which there are thousands of similar ones, that are very dubious at best while not caring about us, the customer and only cares about making money while allowing many 'dubious' activities to occur that can and will be harmful to many.

Why would the 'new woot' allow this? Why is the 'new woot' embedding Cr*p on your comp to track your every movement outside of woot? Why will the 'new woot' claim your acct and all personal info was deleted, when it was not? Why would 'the new woot' allow so many dubious companies to have ad's and links on their site that when clicked on, Scr*w the person who clicked the link? And why so many 'hook ups' with these nefarious sites? I could go on (as most of you know ;>)...) but the answer to all questions is 'this is THE NEW WOOT (which cannot be trusted and is not safe), NOT THE OLD WOOT (which was pretty safe and trusted)

The 'new woot' has 'sold out' for the most part and now are no longer the same fun, safe and trusted site it was and instead joins the minions of tons and tons of dubious sites that are here for 2 reasons...to make money on you and to scr*w you in many different ways.

Now, lets see if woot deletes this post (which I will archive in case they do) in an effort to hide the facts from its customer base. If this post is deleted, then that tells us everything we need to know, but even if not deleted, it means nothing....They have a HUGE C-Base with a very small % reading this so allowing this post to stay, doesnt effect woot in any way. They will still have tons and tons and tons of people unaware and still hasppily 'stepping in to their house of horrors'.
