Lurked in 2004, bought a gaming mouse 2 weeks after Xmas in 2005. Only 1 Bouts of Consternation from all this time. I really miss the goofy cheap stuff they had in the beginning.

Joined during The Purple Period. My first purchase was a Bagg Of Crapp and i havent been able to buy another since 2005. I still visit it daily.

I wish the site would go back to the The Purple Period this new design hurts my eyes.

Barrel of Cropsless since 2005

kimberly4woot wrote:This poll is useless if you want to accurately determine when customers joined. Considering Woot rakes in tons of money, they can afford to have at least Oracle 10g - Enterprise Edition as their back-end database, if not DB2.

Here is a query to help you determine when active customers really joined. An active customer is any customer to sign-in anytime in 2012...

You must really be fun at parties. You know, these polls really aren't for science. They're for fun.

On a related topic. Your new design sucks. Period. The page is too damn busy.

That's on purpose, actually. Just a little way of telling new customers (we do still get a few here and there) that Deals is a different animal than the rest of Woot. "Community sourced" was the best term we could come up with to make that point, but we'd love to hear any better ideas.

I joined March 2010, back when the site was actually Woot and seemed to care more about being funny and creating community. This new design is too commercial, and with the addition of ads for all the sites everywhere and the Woot Plus adds, it just seems like Woot's soul was sold off somewhere in the shuffle. I liked the streamlined way the old site was set up, it was part of the charm of this site.

I'll also agree that the "Community Sourced" bit on deals! doesn't seem necessary. Once you get to deals.woot it's pretty obvious it's deals that people are posting, it's not only cumbersome but redundant to have it labeled thus in the header. But there seems to be a lot of redundancy in the new site, like the links to other Woot sites not only at the top (which is awesome, actually), but on the side *and* bottom of the page.

***Edited to add that I'm a bit baffled by the fact that posting apparently takes me to the main page rather than the thread I just posted on. Is this just broken or is it supposed to do that?

***Edited again to note that when I edit the post it takes me back to the thread, but it didn't do that the first time I posted. Odd.

Over the past 2-3 years, WOOT has just lost the fun and camaraderie that drew me here in the first place. Sure WOOT's main purpose here has always been to make a buck, but at least it didn't seem so blatant back in its salad days. Any of the old timers still around will immediately roll their eyes and moan: "Here he goes with the Photoshop Contest rant again." Yes, here I go again. A sweet deal on some cool audio equipment may have been what originally drew my attention to WOOT, but the Photoshop Contest and guffawing it up with fellow participants is what kept myself and many others coming back on a regular basis. And yes, I continued to make purchases. Last I remember, after an extended break between contests, it was said the contest would go on haitus and be reworked. Still waiting on contest 2.0 or the official R.I.P.

I joined Sept. 2004. The site is no longer easy to navigate like it used to be. I still love Woot though and all the free ebook posts under community deals is awesome.

Thank you, d'wanna. Sorry, don't mean to be cranky...I though all that ended when I lost my period a few years ago.

I started following/lurking woot! in 2010... actively started purchasing in September of 2011, I am a slow learner ;).

Now I have a full blow woot! addiction.
