Awfully expensive for a ladder...

Guess it is cool though.

Dear Woot,

You normally do a pretty good job of reading my mind and selling items that are useful to me. But, I don't have a use for an A frame ladder that "converts" to a little larger A frame ladder. Now, if it actually converts to an extension ladder...I'd gladly pay $150 for it. Well, maybe.

I received one these for Father's Day last year and really like it. Really simple to adjust and lug around. Very sturdy and great quality. I'd buy another if I had to.

I have one of those $30 ladders and the aluminum support is bent after very little household use. Now I'm uncomfortable using it. Very seriously considering buying one of these. Also, my shipping will be free if I buy that bacon stuff over on wine woot. Hmmm....

I own a different model Little Giant and have this to say. You will NEVER need to replace this. Little Giant is the best ladder you will EVER own. I have had other "folding/articulating" ladders and always felt unsafe as if they would collapse at any time. NOT SO with the LG.

I will say that it is a bit heavier than some, but you can feel the quality and durability on every step. Seriously, once you own one a Little Giant, you won't need to buy another... This is a solid lifetime one time purchase...

And On WOOT with this DEAL? It's a no-brainer...

Seriously, stop talking. You're embarassing yourself. Your "$30" ladder is not in the same category.

Your's will get bent or twisted over time (sooner than you think...) It WILL become unsafe.

The Little Giant will always - let me repeat ALWAYS be safer, more stable, more rugged and MUCH more reliable as a ladder than a $30 ladder.

Seriously, how much design or material can go into a $30 ladder to make it safe and rugged?

And as for the Ladder "getting you there quicker", how are you using your ladder? What are you doing with it?

This is not a major cash investment for something you will never need to replace.

Good luck with yours though...

I don't know about the logic but they definitely are good. We abuse the hell out of those ladders and I've never seen one break in any fashion that required replacement. If anything breaks its the little plastic covers, but you can pop those back on.

Because I use them so often on the jet I've been back and forth on getting one for years. I really should jump at this but I can't afford it right now .

I have a larger Little Giant purchased on this very Woot! web site and I can't say enough about it. The only negative is that they are much heavier than a conventional ladder. This one looks like it solves that problem with the wheels. So if the weight is an issue for you, this one is probably for you. Otherwise, I would recommend the larger model - can be used as both a step ladder and extension ladder. I believe mine is the 21' model which allows me to clean the gutters and hang Christmas lights.

I have the 15-foot Little Giant extension ladder and love it, but I almost wish I had this one instead, since it turns out I mostly use it for a stepladder. I also have a lightweight aluminum ladder, and I'm trying to think just where it is at the moment, since I never bother to get it out now that I have the LG.

For the record, I have arthritis and back issues, and I have no trouble moving it around.

Well yes you could, that is IF you could get your ladder under an overhang shorter than 8', oh wait I know just saw the legs off yours, problem solved until you need 8' again lol.

This is more than 'just' an A frame ladder. I don't think people are realizing that you can use it on steps (or sloped ground) as well and adjust the entire height of it. I have a similar one (Gorilla ladder) that I paid $80 for used at a garage sale. Worth every penny ! I use it for getting on my roof as well as trimming the hedges where the ground is actually sloped. Great ladder, a bit heavy, but very strong/stable (not as easy to carry as the cheaper $30 non-adjustable ladders). You will never need another ladder!

Got one of these for Christmas (I was really excited-- pathetic, I know, but I'm a tiny short person and like to do my own home repairs, but have thus far been too cheap to spring for anything taller than a stepladder, which has led to some... interesting balancing acts.) This is a great ladder-- I've used it to change a tall light bulb in our bedroom and we used it to paint the walls a few months ago.

My only recommendation is to REALLY make sure the locks are engaged. The directions in mine were only a few pages, and I don't know whether it was a communication error or my failure to understand, but the locks MUST be pushed into place-- they won't (at least on mine) engage by themselves after you unfold, and sometimes take a little brute force. Found this out the hard way when I tried to climb the ladder and it collapsed in on itself and me. Only injury was a blood blister and some wounded pride, but it could have been a lot worse if I were working over stairs or using it as a scaffolding or something.

But I highly recommend this as an addition to every short (and not so short) do it yourselfer's arsenal!

EDITED TO ADD: Sorry, didn't realize that what I have was the larger model that can also be used as an extension ladder/scaffolding. Great impression to make on my first post. :/ However, I would imagine that the warning still stands, though. Better safe than sorry?

It depends on how you look at it. These are really sturdy, dependable and I dare to say "more safe" than the 30 dollar ladder you'll find at a cheapo store.

You can pay the money by buying a ladder, or you can pay the hospital bill! Your choice!

These things are great. Not only do I use one personally, but my fire department (and the other two in my township) all have one of these on almost every truck.

We don't use these in a firefighting capacity necessarily, however they are extremely useful for inspections, changing smoke alarm batteries, and some "public assistance" calls like cat in tree (it happens) and lockouts.

I bought the 15-foot version in July 2009 for $135. Like any great tool, I don't use it a lot, but when I do, it's the greatest.
I'm sure this smaller-size version will also be of the same high quality.

P.S.: Woot, what were you guys thinking when you re-designed your Website?

If you have to spend any length of time on these types of ladders, wear sturdy shoes because the narrow rungs on these ladders are a (dis)comfort factor.. Experienced in all ladders. Thanks for listening.

And then, 20 years later, on the TV show Tosh.O, Harold McCoo explains why this happened and recreates the ladder climb.

Perhaps it's something everyone else knows, or I'm just using ladders wrong. But, one of the biggest cons for ladders of this type has to be the size of each rung on the ladder. Specifically, the rungs are generally "thin" enough that stepping on them with bare feet would be painful, so you need to wear shoes to use these.

Of course, the ads sort of address this by stating that this version has a "50% wider" rung, but it's probably still pretty narrow compared to conventional ladders.
