70 dollars and Two lonely 5 star reviews at amazon

This would be great for any first time homeowner without any tools. If you're all set on tools this would be a great travel set.

Anybody know the original price this usually goes for? This would definitely putting ikea furniture together much easier..

For those who aren't very tool savvy: an 18V drill will do just about anything you want to do...PLENTY powerful and if all you have is an old corded drill, this will make you much more handy all by itself.

This is a good deal...two nice power tools, a good set of bits, and two sets of pliers that you'll use all the time. All you may want is an extra battery if you plan to do larger projects.

Probably not the best tools to take down Zombies. They'd have to be much too close. Now, if this set contained a nail gun...

Nah, can't risk it. ;)

The drill alone goes between 40 and 45 from marketplace sellers on the mothership. If you need the other pieces and don't mind a NiCD battery, you could definitely do worse.

The specs don't mention what type of battery this uses (lithium-ion, lithium-polymer, etc.) Does anyone have one of these and can speak to the longevity of the battery? Thanks.

I had a nice makita drill that got stolen, anyone know if this will be a decent albeit cheaper replacement ?

I've never been impressed with any of the all-in-one tool sets that I have seen, that were similar to this.

They always look like they are filled with inferior tools.

NiCD, according to all the other links I've (quickly) checked.

Warranty: 2 Years Limited Black & Decker

Isn't black and decker supposed to have a lifetime warranty? Who am I thinking of?

How are the batteries on sets like this? I need a tool set but always avoided cordless drills because I've found that the batteries either don't last or can't provide enough power/torque for the job.

I like this deal so I'm really tempted..

I have the cordless screwdriver. It's not the best, but it works if you don't want to turn your wrist to use a regular screwdriver. Can't speak to the battery life because I never need more than a couple screws at a time on small tasks, but that's all it's meant for

It's ok the woot off made me fail my calc test.

That's craftsman, and that's only on hand tools, not power tools

Hitachi has a lifetime warranty on their Lithium Ion based tools, with a couple exceptions and not including the batteries.

I dont like how the product does not say new refurb or anything of that nature on this new format for Woot. Am I missing this info or is it no longer there?

It's not listed on the front page, you have to hit Read More in the blurb on the right, then it's above the Stupidly Large Gold Button as normal.

$54 at Walmart, although their site shows it as currently not available. The battery is NiMH incidentally.

I feel the same way, my Makita wasn't cordless but the price on this is almost too good to pass up. I also had the B&D cordless screw driver before, but it died, I think from non-use. I didn't keep it charged so whenever I needed it, it was dead so I used a regular screw driver. .

Uggh... Black & Decker battery powered products.

I made the mistake of buying two B&D battery powered products; one drill and one trimmer. Never again.

Both use simple chargers that kill the battery after 1-2 years by continually overcharging and pushing voltage.

The only way to avoid this is to plan ahead and charge the battery 8-10 hours before you're going to use the drill, etc.

The alternative is to follow B&D's plan and buy a new battery every year or two, but they're nearly as expensive as the tool.

The batteries themselves aren't bad, while they last.

Even as a starter B&D was a bad choice.

That's the first I've heard of that. Did Woot really start offering free shipping on Fridays?

NiCad means the power drop off happens out of the gate, also means the battery will not last long and will start losing it's life as soon as you unplug it... Might work for someone that doesn't use it much, but not something you can depend on.

You shouldn't let the batteries come between you and buying this set because the batteries are fine! You should get about 1,000 recharges before battery pack needs replacement. Just remember to recharge when batteries are nearly run down and never put tool away in a rundown state.

A word about Black and Decker...

This is a wonderful company who knows how to treat the customer. You will NEVER be dissatisfied with the customer service department.

I hear ya, and I see from the other Wooters, that's it's not L-Ion batteries, it's NiMH, but the price is right.. and it's not a refurb!

In for one! We'll see what happens come summer. We're moving next door so I'm going to have to disassemble/reassemble all the furniture.

Come on, Woot, pretty classless to not come right out and say what kind of battery it is. Though by not saying directly, we immediately know it's NiCd, i.e. sucky.

I own 2 B & D cordless drills. I'm not a pro, but the drills I have work great for me.
The one thing I don't like about this kit is that there is just 1 battery. If it runs down, you'll have to stop what your doing and wait for it to recharge.
I bought 2 drills (different from this one) at a B & D outlet just to have 4 batteries and 2 chargers.

Ive never had much luck with Black and Decker but this seems like an ok deal if you wont be using the tools daily. I have found that the 18 volt B&D batteries dont hold a good charge and dont pack enough power. I would save my money on this and buy something that will last(Dewalt,Mikita or a Portercable) But than again thats 4 times the price.

Just so everyone's clear... the drill is a GC1800, which takes a HPB18 NiCad battery.
