Well, how do you fare compared to the Zeitgeist? Chat up your fellow wooters and let us know how lame this poll was or what obvious choices we missed. For example: Was this poll a) STUPID, b) DUMB, c) POINTLESS or d) ALL OF THE ABOVE?

I know I'll get hell for this, but Silent Hill was pretty good comparatively. And it used the same amazing soundtrack.

I actually liked the Max Payne movie. Was it great? Of course not, but better then the pieces of crap they listed above...

But I fancy video games based on movies such as The Warriors or The Godfather etc.

No hell from me. It was a good movie based on a video game.

Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within is an amazing movie, but I've never really considered it as really having to do with the video games. It just seems too different.

I concur! They even used some of the same camera angles! The story even went in the direction of something that was only vaguely mentioned in the game. I just wish they would have kept Harry.

On another note, I cannot BELIEVE so many people are voting for Resident Evil! It was CRAP! I bet they only like it because of the actress that's in it. >.<

Doom! The First-Person shooter scene was so reminiscent of the long hours we spent playing it!

Oh man, I almost forgot about Doom! I wouldn't say it's the best, but it was pretty good. Would have been better if they would have kept the demons from hell storyline, instead of people turning into monsters.

Out of everything listed, I didn't hate Prince of Persia. Unfortunately, I find most video games have a chicken-or-egg game with the movie genre... most of the time the movie is in pre-production and BAM! Video game is released the week/month before the movie finally does.

We know the movie of "Home on the Range" came first, but how can we ignore that the video game is right there, with the same month as its release date?

I think people are mostly voting on the boob quotient of the respective movies. That's my theory, and it probably holds.

I think FF: Spirits Within holds up completely on its own, and doesn't really rely too hard on its game for complete understanding, but will still drag you bodily into the FF franchise if you weren't already familiar with it. Also? Absolutely friggin' beautiful.

I have never seen Silent Hill or played it because those games scare the bejeebus out of me and no one will sit with me to play them. ;__;

How is it that nobody has mentioned Double Dragon?!?

But seriously, Hitman was a good one (or at least decent).

There was a japanese anime Street Fighter movie I saw a long time ago (can't remember the name of it) that was actually pretty decent. Most movies based on video games have been pretty sub-par though.

Silent Hill without a doubt. Christophe Gans is a fantastic director.

My faith in humanity is partially restored because the highest percentage voted that there is no such thing as a good movie based on a video game. My gosh, films like Casablanca should not even share the same medium as such trash!

Naw son, Silent Hill was a really good movie. It captured the gritty horror of the game, and it had an all-star cast. Silent Hill is getting my vote as well. The only complaint I had was that they went with the crowd-pleasing role switch and made the lead character female. But I still can't really complain, because c'mon... It's Radha Mitchell.

Anybody ever seen Wing Commander? I was huge into those games back in the day but somehow I never saw the movie. Looked like it had potential, although I just checked reviews online and Rotten Tomatoes gave it 11%. Not a good sign.

To be honest I felt the RE movie held better than alot of the other translations. It wasn't a direct port of the game so there wasn't a lot of confusion or arguments on validity.

Silent Hill (movie) held a lot more of the mystique of the game. However, it was a Movie that could have held its own as a close port from the small screen to the big.

Doesn't count, the Goldeneye film isn't based on the game.

On another note, any chance the Uncharted movie will be a good film?

Tempted to pick the last choice... but Resident Evil series was some good zombie-killing madness. Tomb Raider second for the cheesecake.

I too played the games when they were new (feeling real old right now) but the movie pretty much sucked. I was disappointed. But I agree with the others on here, Silent Hill was good and I did like Hitman too. Just waiting for the DigDug movie to finally make it to production!!

Sands of Time was a legitimate good movie. Plenty of people that never heard of the game enjoyed it and loved the plot. Unfortunately it seemed to fly under the radar. The second time I watched it I was more impressed

My vote is for Silent Hill, too! My husband bought all the old school games for me to play on PS2, but they're too creepy for me to get very far.

Final Fantasy: Advent Children was a good-looking, confusing movie based off of Final Fantasy 7 and RUSHED to theater because of the amazingly expensive debacle that was Spirits Within. And it made great money in Japan.

Then they finished it and re-released it. In Blu-Ray. With even better fight scenes, and a real, finished *plot*, even, and and....

No, it's not Casablanca. But it's a well-made, well-plotted sequel that made me want to play a fifteen-year-old game again. Can't beat that with a (joy)stick!

My vote is for Final Fantasy: Advent Children Complete.

I think Tron was a bad movie based on the videogame based on the good movie based on the bouncing dots of light.

I think. O_o;;

Admittedly it (the videogame) was one of the best movie-to-game conversions I've seen, especially the EDOT (Environmental Discs of Tron, for us old arcade geeks).

Dam good pick!! movie was amazing, sountrack scares me, and the game is awesome. Even the later silent hill games were very good.

But my vote has to go with Willow!

The arcade game was one of the best ever made, and the movie is a classic!
