I got a chuckle out of this one.
Spirits within was not based on a video game. Clearly whoever made this poll didn't know what they were doing.
Still single, can't imagine why.

At the time, there was nothing that compared to this in terms of quality, cinematography, soundtrack, or bad-ass-ness that was based on a video game. It was the first of these movies to treat the genre seriously. This is still a great movie.
I agree. There was some slight cheese to it and I felt the special effects looked pretty bad at certain times, but overall it is definitely my favorite video game turned live-action movie out of the batch.
I loved stuff like FF: The Spirits Within and Advent Children (and am a huge anime fan), but it feels like we're definitely talking live action here, not animation/anime. I think it's a lot harder to create a live action movie or TV series from a game than to create one through animation where you can pull off whatever you want with a fraction of the budget.

I am actually surprised at how many people liked Silent Hill (the movie). I am one of the biggest SH fans you will meet. It is my absolute favorite series. I love listening every soundtrack, and LOVE Akira and Mary Elizabeth Mcglynn. Somehow, however, I didn't *love* the movie. It wasn't "bad", but I felt like it could have been better. They could have done so much more. Plus the female lead, though a talented actress, ruined it a little.
