Bah, the best Uwe Boll film was House of the Dead, though the boss fights in Bloodrayne were pretty incredible. Also, In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale for the best ever performance of Ray Liotta.

First: Final Fantasy: Spirits Within was never a video game. Final Fantasy: Advent Children was based on the world that was created in Final Fantasy VII and was pretty awesome; with the caveat that people who enjoy anime are more likely to enjoy this move, as it employs the anime style of story-telling. 2nd in line, if Advent Children is unacceptable, would be Resident Evil. Mario Bros. was very badly done, and so was Double Dragon and Mortal Kombat and the rest... but, with that said, I still like some of those movies in the same way that I like other 'B' movies. Advent Children was 'A' list in my opinion, though!

I enjoyed the game but it wasn't as good as Rainbow Six or Ghost Recon games. However, the movie followed the pretty well.

Doom! The First-Person shooter scene was so reminiscent of the long hours we spent playing it!

You picked the wrong Final Fantasy! Spirits Within actually disappointed me pretty hard. Advent Children is the best video game movie in my opinion. Although I never watched PoP, I don't think it would have beaten Advent Children. The biggest joke is Mario. I shudder at the thought of that... THING.

My vote was for Mortal Kombat =)

Game based on a movie...

Mortal Kombat is by far the best as long as you disregard Annihilation. The original had great actors and actresses playing roles true to their characters and playing them well. The story was pretty well written considering the lack of any real Mortal Kombat story at the time and the fight scenes were really well choreographed.

I assume Resident Evil is in the lead simply because it jumped on the zombie movie comeback bandwagon, had a thousand terrible sequels, and had Milla Jovavich whom everyone loves.

If I had to pick one, vs none I'd say Tomb Raider.

Other wise it's 0. Nothing is ever as good as the book/game.

War Games

I have yet to find a good movie based on a video game, but the closest definitely has to be Street Fighter with JCVD.

Why has nobody mentioned Tekkon ? I thought it was a good movie and I don't normally like dramatized fighting movies. It had a pretty good story line with a dark dystopian vibe to it kinda like Running Man and Death Race.

I signed up to say the same thing. I thought tho a bit derivitive it had great moood, great look, genuine creep, and wasn't totally "silly".

The only one that did it right in my opinion was Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. I do not know of anyone that is a fan of one and not the other. the only bad thing is it spawned Final Fantasy VII:Dirge of Cerberus which was the worst video game based on a movie based on a video game ever.
