I am the buyer at Woot for these hammocks. They are Pawley's Island Hammocks.

Eight websites, new beta deals, and no hammock stands? I'm surprised and a bit disappointed.

I have two posts under the house that are 10'4" apart would that work? I found aside that said minimum was 13 but I know many times you can vary from what's printed.

It actually dates back to July 31, 1995! Sadly, there's just not a lot of hammock-related humor out there.

I agree. I don't think these are actual Pawley's hammocks. I've been seriously shopping for one for a while, became excited when I saw this on woot, but alas I'm not going to buy it because Pawley's weather resistance material is called DuraCord, not 'WeatherSmart'. Plus, Pawley's colors have different names than what is listed for these. Sorry woot, but not only am I not buying this one but I think that I have lost a little respect for you until you can prove to me that these are genuine pawley's hammocks. Oh, and the real stuff IS made 100% in the USA.

A search for weathersmart hammock will bring you to a hammock on Amazon made by Castaway, are they a subsidiary of Pawley? A less expensive line?

I believe these are the "Castaway" by Pawley's Island hammocks. Sold through Sears, etc. I have perfect confidence that Woot! would not throw the Pawley name out there if they were not and since I need a new hammock and have the perfect tree spacing, I'm in for one. Just can't decide on the color.

I seriously doubt W00tazon would fake a brand name. They're too big to get away with that. I imagine it's the Pawley's Island off-brand. That being said, the off-brand may not be the same quality. Just sayin'

As long as your going with the pseudo-Pawley's Island hammock, why not save a few bucks and go for the stand to match?

Eeeks! Complaining about a 350 lb weight limit?!?!? Kinda scary....these are probably the same people that are afraid of the weight limits in elevators. I have one of these and no probs with it.

Their site is promoting DuraCord not WeatherSmart. Unless Pawleys Island is discontinuing this line, these are knock offs from China.

I agree; solid nylon-based hammocks (such as the popular ENO Single Nest and Double Nest) are far more comfortable when hung right. Plus far more durable.

Correct. It is Pawleys Island, with an 's', without an apostrophe.

I can't believe that it isn't sold out given how many wooters have a home on a lake with two trees that just happen to be the perfect distance apart overlooking the water to install one of these!

Aldi is currently selling identical (but off brand) hammocks INCLUDING METAL STAND for $79. They are top quality, two-person sized and rated for 450 pounds. I highly recommend going to Aldi if you have one nearby.

These do appear to be Pawley's Island. They are on their website . . . if you search for 'WeatherSmart" on the site, you will find them in all the same colors and for $129 - just as woot lists.

I don't see them on the official Pawleys Island site, but they do appear to be the "Castaway by Pawleys Island" hammocks that are sold through big retailers.

Don't have any details on what the difference is with the sub-brand, though.

And yes, it's "Pawleys Island" with no apostrophe. Looks like the text on the product page has been corrected, but this thread title and the first post have not.

In the Mexican style hammock, I'm able to lay completely flat and be most comfortable by laying in horizontally. Mexican hammocks are best for napping...the only reason I don't sleep all night long in it is my toe gets caught in the holes.

Nylon is probably best for outside. 100% cotton is most comfortable for me. People say that the most comfortable and highest quality hammocks in the mayan style for under $100 are from http://www.hammocksrada.com/
Handmade in the Yucatan by fat native women, so shipping is high.
