Just in case you're having trouble with the colour names, they are listed in the same order as the pictures.

Burgundy is the dark red.
London is the Yellow.
Rust is the copper.
Spruce is the teal.

But now folks have a ladder and tools to help put up this hammock.

Sometimes things really do work out!

Hammock good. This style, with spreader bars and wide spaced ropes, not so good. Those nylon ones woot had a few months ago were good.

Please do not increment my Quality Posts count. 69 is a good place to be. ;-)

Wonders about the 350 weight limit...that means each adult cannot weigh more than 175 each...or if one person weighs 200, the other only 150. Sadly, this seems unrealistic for two people who would be 5'10 or taller, athletic, carpenters, etc. I would love to say yes to this if only the weight limit were increased. Have to feel safe before swinging in tango on the hammock.

How many hammock styles are there? Why isn't this one good?

Would this work on an outdoor patio....a few floors up? Or is that a bad idea?

My parents found this type of hammock back in the early 1990s and I grew up with one. I can attest to their awesomeness; they don't grab you and hold you in, they're stable, and you can put several people on em. Super easy to store/set up, too.

This is a spreader bar hammock. It'll flip over. Get something without a spreader bar.. I've got a Mexican hammock in the guest room to nap in..and sleep in the Brazilian. You can find a stud in the wall to hang it, or buy a stand. These spreader bar hammocks give hammocks a bad name though..

Shoot, I forgot for a minute that I promised myself I'd stop being helpful to woot because of how they treat their customers. Sorry for this post that previously held links to other places this item is for sale and how much the item was selling for at those sites!

I've had one of the original cotton Pawley's Island hammocks for over 25 years & still love it - it's comfortable & inviting. But because it's cotton, I bring it in the house so it doesn't get rained on & moldy. This would be a great improvement because you can leave it outside. I'm almost tempted.... is

I am from Garden City Beach, SC, right down the road from Pawley's Island and I can attest that the hammocks are made of the best quality. If you're looking for a nice rope hammock, don't hesitate to snatch this up, especially at the Woot! price!

Yep, spreader bar ones flip over with terrifying ease. Don't fall asleep in one or you may wake up on your way to the ground. Been there, done that...

I don't see these listed on the site: http://pawleysislandhammocks.com/rope-hammocks.php

Which makes me think it's not a true Pawley's Island hammock. There is a huge difference... Most hammocks don't compare in quality and definitely don't last as long.

But it is a pick your poison situation. Those without the bar roll around you. I always feel like I'm the dead body being disguised in a rolled up rug. That sense of being ensnared in a fishing net is worse than a potential tumble for me. I'll take the Pawley tumbler any day.

I am not sure why people think it odd to find a hammock here or blame in on the "new woot". I bought a hammock on woot (trek light gear) a year ago & LOVE it. It is a 2 person as well - no spreader bar & holds 400lbs. So far we can fit me, Dh & our 5 & 2 yr old all in it. LOL Since we are slim people I *think* we'll still all fit for a few more years (it is over 6 foot wide & 10 ft long) - anyway - I will say I love the LOOK of this one & if spreader bar ones would safer for 5 & 2 yr olds I'd be all over picking up another hammock. I personally find the rope spreader bar style more comfortable for myself (I am petite & thin & not sure if that makes any difference as to what is more comfortable) & this IS a great price. We can all fit in the one we've got but sometimes it'd be nice to get in ALONE, which rarely happens. LOL I did buy a portable folding hammock to TRY to get the kids to love it - but frankly the kind we have has 4 chains (one at each corner) and although fine for a rest, is more akin to one of those old camp cots then a hammock & they aren't buying it as a replacement for swinging in the REAL hammock. Even my 2 yr old isn't fooled :P

Yes, I was wondering that too. We had a real Pawley's Island hammock (cotton) for at least 25 years. Are these made in the US?

I prefer the spreader bar type, as you can sprawl out. As long as it's good quality and you've got the appropriate hang distance, it will never flip over on you unless you're trying to make it do so. (Oh, and 8 teenage girls on a hammock can pull the eyebolt out of the tree, but the hammock will come out fine.)

Just get a good canvas pillow to go along with it.

I totally understand - that is also why I do like the trek light one we bought. It has no net or mesh (hence no red fish net lines on the back of my legs when I get out - LOVE that) & it's 6 1/2 foot WIDE - so I can easily lay it sideways too so no rolling. I find the rolling annoying as well. It also is made from super thin parachute type fabric & folds down to a ridiculously small size if you want to take it with you.

I would love better color representation in the photos. The four examples are just poorly shopped. Loden is quite green, not yellow.

I have a couple of trees about 11-12 feet apart. I know the over all length is lists as 13 feet for this hammock. I assume that length is flat.
Anyone know is 11-12 feet apart is enough for this model?

There wasn't one started, but the products that are featured below the "today's woot" I guess are now being discussed under the "world of Woot" tab...so I started a topic for you on the mats. That is all I could do though as I don't know anything about the mats. Hopefully someone else does. Here is the link: http://www.woot.com/forums/viewpost.aspx?postid=5028447#post5028447

Such a shame. I'd be in for one if it came in "manly" colors. "Manly" colors don't need further definition or translation. Even the translation if confusing. . .We've always known that London is yellar, but What's the Features? is teal?
