I am so jealous. My roku doesn't have the instant replay button. Once you have it you never want to go back to a regular roku.

Rewinds 8 seconds (or so) without having to re-buffer your movie/show

Have my third Woot Roku, one in every TV room. Absolutely great! Using them mostly for Amazon Prime and Netflix but lots of other stuff available. :-)

This is the WORST streaming device EVER! I have bought 4 of them in the past year and only one works. Buyer beware.

What, you're not on the Roku bandwagon? What are you waiting for?

A little FYI I just discovered after hooking up the Roku XDS I got from the last Wootoff; What Woot's description of the product doesn't mention is that, outside of whatever services you need to sign up for to use the Roku with (e.g. Netflix, Amazon, etc), you also need to sign up for a Roku account and give them a credit card number to keep on file before you can use the unit.

Love my Roku 2XD. Watched the NASA channel today to get a better view of Venus passing the sun than on a computer screen. Only wish I had the gaming remote.

The one I bought last month didn't have a functional wifi. Yes, I was too lazy to send it back.. but just saying...

I've bought three of these off the roku site. Use one at home, one at our vacation home and gave one to my mom. Add an $8 netflix account.

The best part is I can check to see if my mom is still alive by reviewing the history on my netflix account. If there are a bunch of Jerry Lewis movies and Murder She Wrote episodes, she's still around for another day.

Lots of channels to get free or pay for. Heck of a lot cheaper than cable.

bought one during the last woot off
it's pretty cool but would be 372863478623 times better if it worked with my slingbox

Anyone know if you can use component cables with this, or is that output on the back strictly for composite video?
And if I'm actually considering this should I just buy one of the newer models?

I had a great experience. I got mine from Amazon at Christmastime.

I use it at my house back in Ohio that has no TV access..I use it for hotels who don't offer free channels.

I am tapped into my netflix account and amazon prime as well as others.

I suggest plugging it in at home and getting it all set up and updated before using it in hotels.

This way you are familiar with it and "good to go" when you reach your destination.

It's good for the traveller.. or the lazy who only have cable in the living room and don't want to get out of bed..

Its really way too easy to activate and get started..

Happy wooting, eh?

Assuming the logistics of shipping and voltage are not concerns, will this work overseas?

I'm not really certain what these, or slingboxes, or home-run-something-or-others actually do, but if it means better TV access than the five local Mandarin channels I get right now, I'm willing to learn, even if it's limited to Chinese channels in China.

If you have an older TV, this is the model you want. Anything newer has only composite and HDMI.

Dammit! Why didn't I think of that? I've had my Roku since before xmas, and I still think of it as my "Netflix machine," forgetting I have other channels.

Wish they'd hurry up with the YouTube deal.

First the tv, then the roku, what next? A blu-ray player? Some other tv related item I must have because it's a bargain?

Well played, Woot, well played.

I love my Roku and I have this same exact refurbished model. I was just looking at getting one for my parents, but I saw this offer from Roku: http://www.roku.com/huludeal

Heck of a deal if you plan to get Hulu. Decisions, decisions.

That is one of the few things I don't like about Netflix, no ability to erase any history.

I have this Roku, the UI is totally so-so compared to the PS3 and Apple TV. It does the job but I would have expected the UI to be a bit more elegant, the UI is kinda 1995.

I know the PS3 is way more expensive, but I imagined it to be along the same lines as the Apple TV, but far from it.

I'm not an Apple fan boy at all, this is just my experience in owning the 3 devices listed.

1 free month of Hulu Plus deal over on deals.woot:

http://deals.woot.com/deals/details/e2a1ce77-c965-431d-a8a1-a089495ed5ac/1-month-free-hulu-plus

combine that with a 1 month free deal of Netflix (found elsewhere) and feel like you're winning for an entire month

ONLY if you're an HBO subscriber already. You can't get Roku+HBO Go without paying for cable, and paying for HBO.

I have this version as well as the newer Roku 2 model. I recommend spending more to get the Roku 2 model for better compatibility to newer features.

According to the support website, this model DOES NOT have component ports (just like newer models). Only, HDMI and Composite.

Got some good news for you. Your ROKU ius about to work " 372863478623 times better " ROKU will work on Slingboxes (at least my PRO HD) Been using for a year easily. The Slingplayer Appl loads a Generic Remote that gives you the 4 Directional Buttons and the Center ones you need. Just Google it on up and have fun!!!

Voltage should not be a concern, they wok with 110-220v/50-60Hz. This site has a list of channels that are in the Roku Channel Store - http://www.roku.com/roku-channel-store This list includes games that will only work with the newer Roku 2.
You will not be able to legally get US only channels like Netflix, Hulu, etc. Private channels (channels not offered through the channel store) are also available to expand your viewing options, just google for "Roku private channels" to get an idea of what's available.

Interesting point, but I gotta say, compared to my samsung 250g blu-ray with streaming video, the Roku UI is far better. It's all relative. The UI of the samsung bites and I'm actually considering replacing it with another Roku. Besides Netflix, I get Crackle with Roku too.

I also was weary of the requirement to open a Roku account with a credit card but it never bit me and I set it up so that I am always warned if I am doing something that will invoke a purchase. So... I'm a fan.
