Well, how do you fare compared to the Zeitgeist? Chat up your fellow wooters and let us know how lame this poll was or what obvious choices we missed. For example: Was this poll a) STUPID, b) DUMB, c) POINTLESS or d) ALL OF THE ABOVE?

I wouldn't exactly call it camping, but we do spend 3 weekends a month from April thru Thanksgiving at one of our great Washington State Parks in our 35ft Class A RV.

Smores, campfires, using the Sharper Image grilling thermometer, the 3W LED headlamp and my ASUS laptop (which were all purchased on WOOT) really makes it great!

Sorry, but my idea of roughing it is a Motel 6.

I've been a few times in my life...all before I turned 18...and I didn't like it. But my 10-year old has expressed interest so there's probably some camping in my future. Oh, and I've been threatening to put my sons out of the house and make them sleep in the backyard in a tent. Can I do that?

*I* have FIVE Quality Posts! no, seriously...how did that happen?!

Hoping to see a Camping! page on Woot soon so I can guide my scouts to get camping equipment cheap. I have bought sleeping bags and other equipment here, wish it was more reliable that there was this equipment was here.

We will find a way or we will make one. Hannibal ~ 200 B.C.

Started camping as a kid in CA, but I haven't been camping since I was in my early 30's and I loved it...but now body needs a very comfortable bed or I'm a grumpy camper. And the South has too many bugs and snakes to enjoy any outdoor activity.

But give me a hotel right on the beach where I can walk across the sand from my beach chair to the pool bar and get a pina colada and I am a happy camper.

I did most of my camping when I was in the army. From that I got a hatred of tents, sleeping bags, and foraging. They called it survival training, I called it torture. The only part I enjoyed was the cook-outs and beer.

I'm down to about once a year but I do plan to pick it up again and go at least 2-3 per year. I love camping and fishing, no electronics just kick back and enjoy nature. I'm one of those "crazy" people that stay in the primitive spots.

sorry, but the idea of paying to live outside for a few days isn't exactly enticing to me

Me too! It really bugs me that I haven't been able to go camping yet this year because every time I have a couple days off I have other commitments.

The thought alone exhausts me. I am not lazy, I LOVE being outdoors (this is sounding a tad like a reply to a personals ad, sorry) Love to hike, etc., but really now people, SOOO much work involved, so many mosquitos, waking the following morning with a hang-over from OFF bug spray still wafting from the early morning application. NO WAY. Not to mention the multiple new kinks in my lower back and neck inadvertently sleeping atop of a tree's root. I think not. I love to fish, have no problem getting dirty and no fear of hard work. I even love the campfire late at night. That is when I prefer to return to a camper/trailer/hotel and get a good nights sleep.

If you haven't already, try Scenic Beach State Park. It's one of my favorites (although, I'm a tent camper not an RVer).

My friends and I try to go camping as much as we can. We go 'backpacking' in the Ozark National Forest in NW Arkansas. We actually just got back from a trip this past weekend. Although there were tons of bugs and poison ivy, we still had a blast.

We've been before in January when it got down to about 15 degrees Fahrenheit.

Bouts of Consternation:
8/17/11; 9/14/11; 10/12/11; 11/09/11, 12/06/11; 4/26/12

And right now.

Family of 5, 2 boys ages 9 and 6, toddler girl. tent campers because we cannot afford an RV yet. camping as often as possible in the great state of PA. i dont understand why some people have such an aversion, i mean for less than 200$ the 5 of us dissappear for 4 day weekends. the boys love fishing and hiking collecting bugs and firewood, the girls love fishing and hiking and collecting bugs, not so much firewood... roasting marshmellows and running around all day, kids are asleep barely after sunset and mommy and i get to enjoy quiet.. by a fire... in the woods.. did you hear that? its pretty scary, i heard that there are mountain lions up here. LOL. always a good time.

Half asleep me bought a tent off here at 3 am around 6 months ago, so I hope I go again soon. My wife is tired of me randomly stating "I bought a tent...!"

That is why we use to camp.

Pre kids we had 4 weeks of vacation.
Couldn't afford hotels that anyone would want to stay in. (I swear there was urine stains on the ceiling of the first hotel we stayed in on the road. I was a one floor place.)
We bought a two man tent. A sleeping bag, a close cell pad and a one burner stove for coffee in the morning.

We weren't camping because we were eating all our meals out.

Our tent, and campground bathrooms were way cleaner than anything we could afford!

Only flaw was the Florida Keys. Too hot. No see ums.
Stayed in a hotel. With ac!

WE LURV YOU TOO! Dork!!!
