I agree with you on that. I also find LED backlighted LCD TVs to be irritating especially at night and prefer CFL backlighted TVs. Plasma still offers the nicest and most naturally saturated color.

The lightning bolts on the screen of the main picture is probably all you will see with this tv. Having had a number of Emerson products, never again. Woot should give these away in the Bouts of Consternation#39;s.

Might want to be careful about refurbs on woot. I dont know if it is a common experience, but the last time I bought a refurb mp3 player, it had REFURBISHED in bright silver letter pasted on the back which couldn't be removed.

And woot just claimed that was normal so refused to let me return it.

It's probably somewhere between 5 & 8ms. It's a cheap TV, not a gaming computer monitor.

I'd love to take a chance on this, but after getting shafted and ignored on a broken out of box projector (yes I used the correct email) I won't be buying anything electronic from WOOT and I suggest you don't either.

1080p isn't noticed until you hit the 32" mark... then it becomes very clear... or blurry for that matter...

That is normal. Most manufacturers mark refurbished units so people can't take them back to stores or service centers and claim it's a new unit that they lost the paperwork for.

You can look at the signature below for the "refurbished" definition at woot. I bought a refurbed phone set at woot, got a bad battery which was promptly replaced, one of the phones has gone bad, but worth what I bought. I imagine I could get a bad experience too, with Woot, but so far I haven't (and I think I could get a bad experience with any business if I buy enough things from them--just the odds). I don't have qualms with refurbs on cheaper things, but I tend to get gun-shy on more expensive things, especially if the brand wasn't great to begin with. The Samsung computer this week, for example, I would have more likely taken a chance on than the TV, because of quality rep. Small and relatively new things I also tend to try to avoid (hence, why I'm avoiding tablets). My $0.02.

Can this TV be used as a large digital photo frame? i would plug a flash drive into the USB port - will it play a slide show in that manner?

Seriously? First time I have heard that. Also, which store do you know takes back items or fixes items without paperwork?
Regardless, it was not usable any more when you have crap on it defacing it... something that should be clearly indicated on the description.

All that makes sense. But nowhere does it say that the actual item being sold will be defaced with a permanent sign on it... :-)

I received mine last week. Still need to contact Emerson service (actually Funai Service Corp) to try to get return or replacement. The Component ports do not work on my unit, the HDMI does. Which sucks as its a cheap TV for a cheap DVD player and I need my component ports.
