Ah, geez, there's a lot of haters out today. Some with legit gripes (lousy customer service when Archos first entered the US market), and others just pure trolling (referring to a top-5/major vendor as "non-brand"). I've gone out of my way before to defend the brand based on my own positive experience, but YMMV.
In a nutshell, the whole Archos tablet line has moved from a lower-middle to upper-middle quality+experience in recent years. This Archos 101 isn't some no-name junk, and it's not an ep121 either. Just decent, solid hardware from some French dudes who've been rocking out on portable devices since they decided to plunk in a little color screen and let you do other stuff on your Archos jukebox in 2002. Iirc, they were the first ones to do that. How far we've come.
Anyway, I have several of the smaller Archos tablets in this line, and they've each survived years of abuse at the hands of kids, upgraded firmware just fine over multiple iterations, run tons of apps just fine, solved most of the early lib problems people complain about etc etc. Solid stuff -- in a world between Waffle House scrapple and dinner the The Herb Farm, this is the daily special from Ruth's Chris or Red Lobster. You're not going to impress a connoisseur, but it's solidly good.
So if you're looking for a great price on a very _good_ device, this is your deal.
[Edit: aw heck... in for 1.]
