In the FEATURES (although listed in SPECS) it is left out that this will handle a FULL size USB drive...GREAT feature that few tablets have. (Toshiba Thrive, also)

I politely beg to differ--you are comparing the new price to this refurb price. Using your link--Refurb on AMZN starts at $219.99.

EDIT: But my heart's just not in it today...post whatever you want.

REFURBISHED start at $219 so don't compare compare apples to oranges.

I have an Iconia A500, and I love it. The full size USB port comes in handy more often than you'd think (especially for a retrogamer like me), and with a custom rom running on it it'll run just fine. Excellent tablet for the price, no question.... Kindle what?

Still a deal at 10% off that already low price. Tegra 2 with Ice Cream Sandwich from Acer without rooting is good.

My question...is the battery user replaceable?.

A review from Engadget:

http://www.engadget.com/2012/03/15/acer-iconia-tab-a200-review/

My friend has one with ICS... apps crash occasionally and it hesitates often.

LCD is not usable outside and is overall "dull".

But... for $200 it's a good buy if you have kids that need to be entertained!

My $.02

So this does NOT have GPS of any type right? My A500 does, and I seem to see some conflicting specs out there

This tablet has been on onesaleaday almost every week. The lowest price so far has been $219. So this is the best price so far. But they had A500 for that price also. Not realy sure if A500 is better tablet since it has front camera and better quality built. A200 is newer model though.

For those seeing the A200 & A500 frequently, I spent a while trying to figure out the difference, and from what I was able to tell, the A200 doesn't have a back camera, where the A500 DOES.

Apart from that, I can't find a spec. difference. The cases are a different color of course.

So with this $5 all you can ship from woot offer, when I buy another item it still charges the $5 and deducts it from my paypal account. Does this get credited back later?

Thanks TT, I've already emailed them. Its the first I've bought since the offer so I wasn't sure of standard procedure on how they handle that.

P.S. I've been gone a few days, did you loose a leg?

So, I just bought an Amazon Kindle Fire for the kids to use for apps, but this thing is looking a lot better because the system doesn't looked to be so locked down (that is, I can put on any app I please).

Anyone have experience with both? Should I return the Fire in favor of this?

How does this tablet compare to the Archos A101 10.1" Turbo Tablet from last week?

I purchased it, received a brick and sent it back waiting for a confirmation email for the replacement woot is sending, if this one is better, i may ask them to just send this one instead!

If it's like the A500, you will have to use the app Flash Video Browser for many sites (hulu, ustream), but can use regular browser for others (such as YouTube).

To further explain about hulu - Hulu does have an app that works for the A500 but to trick it into playing the vids that are for puter display only you have to use the Flash Video Browser.

The Big question... Does it have the Google play/Android market on it. If not, PASS. Yeah you can load Amazon and get the second rate apps, but I have gone down that route with other Android tablets. I even rooted two of them trying to get it on there. Not worth all the trouble. If someone can tell me that it is on there, I am in. If not I am passing on this and sticking with the laptop.

I have one of these and like it.

Some pro/con:

Pro
-Nice clean look and "grippy" back
-Full size USB port. I've used an un-powered USB hub and connected a keyboard, mouse and a flash drive.
-Has Google Play Android Market
-Screen looks great to me
-Good battery life

Con
-No HDMI out port or back camera (note: the A500 has these). If you want to connect to a TV, the lack of HDMI is a show stopper.
-Non-removable battery (you'd need a Toshiba Thrive for that)
-Can't charge using USB, must use AC adapter

I bought mine for browsing the web on the couch, so my expectations are pretty basic. I don't need the HDMI, so it's been great for my needs.

I have had the A500 for a long time (rooted/custom ROM). Nothing but joy as long as your expectations are in line - it ain't sexy and the battery ain't great with Acer in general...but the bang for the buck is unbeatable. My A500 was referb from Woot last year and zero issues. Great buy for a great price

Does not imply a GPS chip. Google's handy little street view cars took a note of the physical location of your wifi network, and it uses that (along with geo-location of your IP address) to provide your location.

I bought this the last time it was offered here. Just a few gripes: the battery life is pretty mediocre, I only get 4-5 hours of use with WiFi on and the screen set to 50% brightness, so significantly less than Acer states. It makes me wonder whether the battery wasn't replaced as part of the refurb. The screen is too glossy for outdoor use, but that's true of pretty much any tablet. Buying a matte screen protector helps. My biggest issue was probably that the plug of my Woot refurb broke off in my plug socket within a month of receiving it. Now that socket is unusable, and probably a fire hazard, and I had to pay for a new plug less than a month after having shelled out over $200 for this tablet. I realize this may be an isolated issue, but I assume the plugs provided aren't OEM, and are probably cheaper quality, so buyer beware.

Other than those issues, though, the tablet is probably as good as any other Android tablet, especially in this price range.

Yes it does do Google Play (market).
One thing that has not been discussed are the speakers. Very much below par if you want to listen to music. Otherwise it is a great tablet

A national chain of pawn shops (American Pawn)is selling a "Supersonic" SC-75MID (new) for $99.95. It has HDMI, A4.0, full sized USB, CAN be charged via USB but only 4 GB memory, no Bluetooth and no front camera. However, it does come with the Google Play market. Just mentioning this for comparison.

acpress.com Not cute, but useful.

I have experience solely with the Kindle... I love it, but it is a bit limited (no expansion, no camera, etc), so if I had my "druthers" (and an extra $200 to blow), I'd get this one.

Eh. Totally subjective, of course, although after upgrading my G-Tab to ICS I somewhat agree, at least from a home screen standpoint.

I will never own an iPhone, because I could not use it the way I use my ICS Android phone with it's widgets and notification bar and quick settings and easier multitasking and system wide share functionality etc etc ad nauseum.

As for tablets, though, a lot of those widgets don't matter. It would be nice, yes, to have an Evernote widget on my iPad, but since I typically use the widget to quick capture a picture or audio note, it's not a deal breaker. Multitasking on Android is usually better, of course, but iOS 5 and the iPad's new multitasking gestures narrow the gap considerably.
Oh, and there are no handwriting apps on Android that are even a fraction as useful as those on the iPad. Banging rocks together vs Dyson Sphere design and management is what we're talking about here.
Also the iPad supports MIDI.
But hey, the Youtube app on ICS tablets bowls over the iPad version and then stomps it into an icky smear.

See? Completely subjective.

This tablet has aging hardware but I'd bet it runs well enough with ICS. Hit up the XDA forums and see if the V6 Supercharger script works on the A200; if so it will completely eliminate any "micro lag" and other hiccups that somehow plague all of this amazing hardware.

Had one for a little under a month before I returned it. Decent, but occasionally became sluggish. The Acer "ring launcher" is useless. Full-size USB is a nice perk, but opening the door on the side to access it is a pain--it's very resistant to being opened. And unlike many others of this size, no HDMI (not even mini-HDMI). Good battery life, though. For this price, definitely not a bad purchase, especially for a 10-incher, but with other tablets with more functionality (the Thrive springs to mind) hovering in the area of this price range I'd wait for one of those go on sale again.

Does anyone know if Acer fixes the mic issues with the tablets? I picked up the A500 a couple of weeks ago primarily to Skype with. What a piece of garbage. Google a500 and mic. Someone even posted a YouTube video of how horrible the microphone sounds. How Acer releases products this with that problem is beyond me. Shows their QA process. Don't know if this model has same issues and also the a500 speakers are rear facing. How dumb is that? Beware if you plan to to use this for chatting unless you do your homework. Needless to say I returned it. There seems to be a rash of these discounted suddenly so there is probably a god reason.

I'm new to tablets and have never owned one. I just need one for browsing the web while on the couch and entertaining my son with YouTube videos or loaded videos while traveling or out to dinner. Will this meet these basic needs? I was considering an iPad but the price difference and my basic needs have me leaning to this. Thanks!
